Nigerians Vent Frustrations Against President Buhari - CNN by teebillz: 9:17am On Sep 11, 2016 |
Lagos (CNN)It was supposed to be a rallying cry for unity in a nation deep in recession crisis. However the launch of President Buhari's 'Change Begins With Me' campaign quickly went south as Nigerians took to Twitter to vent their frustrations against his government. During a national address on Thursday, the president said: "The campaign principle is simple, each of us must live the change we want to see in our society." He added: "Before you ask, 'where is the change they promised us,' you must first ask, 'how far have I changed my ways." Angry Nigerians poured scorn on the initiative. Some felt the sentiment was tone deaf and failed to address the myriad problems Nigerians face on a daily basis. Top of that list is an economy in free fall and mass youth unemployment. Last month, Nigeria's second quarter GDP fell by more than two percent compared to last year, after slipping by 0.4% in the first quarter. Two consecutive quarters of decline mean Nigeria has now slid into recession. While he has been tough on corruption, Nigerians feel his authoritarian approach is out of touch when he needs to inspire hope for better times. Who is Muhammadu Buhari? Many used the #changebeginswithme hash tag to let the president know he has failed in his earlier promise to deliver change Buhari also recently launched a "War Against Indiscipline" -- one of his flagship schemes when he was first in power more than 30 years ago. Since coming to power in May 2015. Buhari has been fighting a war on many fronts, including the Boko Haram insurgency which has been blamed for a looming famine crisis in the north east of the country. Nigeria's senators are some of the highest paid lawmakers in the world and some of the tweets condemned Buhari's failure to cut down on the high cost of running government. How do you rate a successful student?? His test or exam reports Before you become so uncivilized to throw insults on anyone...... check the boxes on each measuring parameter I suggest PMB focus on the economy and stop trying to please people by going after criminal suspects....because it takes time to convict a suspect. Let him note these two analogies: 1. Will PMB run after a robber who steals $5 billion from his house and set his house on fire leaving his family in the house? I don't think so. I feel the best thing would be to save his family first before reporting to the police. Lessons: A. Don't run after robbers.... it's a distraction or time-waster as the case maybe. Allow the security agents to do their work B. PMB should save Nigerians from hunger and attend to corrupt suspects later 2. How would you consider a man who has not paid his children fees nor bought food & clothes for them but brag how much he's saved in the bank? Lesson: PMB talks about saving and recovering money while the country is hungry Na wahooooo... this is not the best. let him rather complain of lack of money as an excuse for the recession. 5 Likes |

You can blame those tweets, education should mean you have better grasp of the issues at hand but in the case of the lazy youths. .. only see through myopic understanding of things. |

Just like in a football match, when u notice that a particular formation is not working, u change it. Buhari, it is obvious that u don't have the right economic team to bring us out of this crisis, why not change them. no need to be ashamed about it after all it is for the good of all of us. Except u want to tell me that u are Arsenal wenger who would rather stick to his plans even when it is obvious that it is not working just because of pride. 1 Like |
