aliACCA:
i was denied few weeks back and CIC ticked this reasons on my refusal letter:

i have now decided to use my mom as my sponsor and went ahead to open a current account on her behalf just last week. its my plan to build up her account and use in march for my application. Will this raise an eyebrow since the business is totally informal and not registered.

i have request for my gcms file as well but want the gurus in the house to help regarding this next hurdle.

@michv @thesoj @team12 @lawmerchant @justwise @arcayo and all and sundry.

thanks
you are for Masters which implies as we postulated, you are deemed credible as a student cheesy. Meanwhile what type of business is that your mum has got?since the answer is still pending, lemme similarly point out that you have to initiate business transactions of hers as you build up the account.what i mean is, it would appear convincing that her business activities are seen as you build up the account since you have taken sole responsibility to that effect. I have read here about successful applicants who didn't have CAC and tax clearance but they provided business related documents like invoices, receipts e.t.c.so it all depends on how detailed and smartly transparent you are.if the business appears registered if being advised to do so now,it might seem fishy to the VO.my thought though..

Thanks Tarry, really appreciate but I did not notice any list of colleges that can offer MBA as u mentioned.

University of Canada West will admit almost any body for their MBA through the MBA foundation program and the admission letter will state MBA

You can try some other private university in Canada, their admission are generally easier but you need to ensure they are DLI

@ Gymme, good evening. Please what's the amount needed for proof of funds for the SOWP application?
Gymme:
1. They know you are a student and your '20 hours' weekly can not take care of you and your family so they don't expect you to have that much in your Canadian bank account (except you got some money transferred from your Nigerian account to your new Canadian account). The bolded could work (her bank statement will be required). If you got some money in your Nigerian account, you could include the statement too.

2. I'm not sure she needs to prove home ties because you are the foreign tie (lolz). She is coming to work full time so you can go to school full time (that is the logic behind the SOWP anyway). If you wanna apply for Visitor's Visa for your wife, then home tie (in fact, stronger home tie) is required. The truth is they 'hardly' issue Visitor's Visa to a spouse now so SOWP is the right way.

3. You can apply to extend his Visitor's Visa (that is if he is not given the same expiry date as your study permit). Or you could apply for study permit for your son when he gets here (if high school, the study permit is renewable yearly) as far as he is underage.

She cant wait.. she is very excited about it..

Thanks!!!

You are welcome, my regards to your wife. You can also look into Express Entry (for Permanent Residency) after some time if you have some Canadian work experience + Nigerian work experience, your wife can give you some good points (with her education and other things) and your adaptability to Canada, if you have a full time job offer (that's even better!). This can be an option apart from your wife trying to get hers after studies. Who knows you can get yours first. #that's if you and your family don't want to go back to Nigeria after everything..which I won't advice anyone to...lol

she is mainly into general trading, major wholesale and retail distributor of tail comb and other plastic combs to a local comb manufacturer in Ghana. Was thinking of re-registering the business since the business was registered in her sister's name but this will look fishy; hence not an immediate option. She pays the local manufacturer about 1.3 million naira (cedis equivalent) every week but in cash and one other supplier in cash as well. i was thinking of replacing the cash payment with cheque or standing order if possible (though the cheque issuing is more likely). How will this help my application and is there anything else i do to help improve my case.

NB: the manufacturer opted to sponsor me through the use of his company but i humbly rejected this since will not help my case and may not seem genuine.

i would advice you explicitly and concisely prepare her sponsorship letter, narrating the nature of her business and providing those relevant business docs like i stated earlier and more if available to evidentially prove that and stating how much will be made available from the account as you prepare your funds for ur duration at least a year.since she pays them in cash while not for the purpose of ur travel start making those transactions in bank or you help her do so, so that business transactions will be convincingly seen.

Bro ow much was the gcms thing when u requested for it?

mryoung16:

Exactly, I had third class in my bsc, at it stands now, I can't go for another bsc program bcus the vo might see it as if am desperate, or either msc because of my grade, have actually requested for my Gcms, once it arrives, I will try all my best to work on the problem and reapply for the last time, if that doesn't work, will seek for my tuition back and try other countries.

Actually even a medical doctor can do MBA, any profession can do MBA, that's why it is usually interdisciplinary, to help in setting up your own business in your profession. I know a man that made studying MBA compulsory for all his children which include lawyer and doctor but then those Canada VOs might not see it that way. You have to convince them in your SOP why you are going for the program
