Nigeria Creates New Record Of Largest Number Of Delegates at TIFF 2016 by Orikinla(m): 7:03pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
Wow! Hon. Steve Ayorinde, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy was right! I did not know what I was talking about the Nollywood showcase in the City To City Programme of the 41st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada. I just found out that Nigeria has created a new record of having the largest number of delegates to an international film festival with more than 150 people! They are enough to flood the red carpet at TIFF. Congratulations Lagos State! But the government is finding it difficult to pay the salaries of BRT drivers. http://www.nan.ng/news/lamata-promises-to-settle-brt-drivers-strike There is no economic recession in Nigeria if the government can afford to send more than 150 delegates to the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival! Guinness World Records must be informed! "So, to say that of the over 150 delegates travelling to TIFF for the City-to-City programme, only Somkele and Ukeje are the rising stars accredited to attend as guests and to take part in a series of specialised programming, seminars and workshops organised by TIFF’s industry team, and you will be stating the obvious." http://m.guardian.ng/saturday-magazine/somkele-iyamah-idhalama-new-nollywood-rising-star-goes-to-toronto/

If this is true, then I sense trouble for the ministry/department of the govt that authorizes or sponsor this trip. |

kolaish:. The Guardian newspaper of Nigeria is an authiritative source. If Nigeria can send more than 150 delegates to an event in Canada when majority of Nigerian graduates are jobless, the masses are suffering from the econpmic recession and with naira to USdollar exchange rate at more than N330 to US$1, then the war against corruption is a joke. 150 delegates will occupy an entire hotel and the costs will run into millions of dollars. This must be more than those who went to Rio Olympics. The biggest Nigerian jamboree must be going on in Toronto. 1 Like |

Well, it is like the annual Lagos Carnival moved to Toronto. With 150 delegates from Nigeria in a cinema hall, other guests will have to look for seats.
