[quote author=Pitykitten post=49232975]Good day everyone. If an applicant needs to correct an information on his DS-160 after submitting, paying fees and scheduling an interview, what's the process please? Not a mistake with names/birthday oo, big deal information- previous travel history to the US. LadyG, I know you've talked about how to go about this and I know it must be irritating to get similar questions all the time, but I can't seem to find it on the thread. Please, Biko, ejoo, help. [/quoteAlthough it's true that the State Department has not provided a way to go back and change an already-submitted DS-160, you can go back online to submit a new, corrected DS-160, print the new confirmation page, and bring that to your interview at the consulate or embassy. This may be less work than you think. First, check how many days have gone by since you submitted the original application. If it is less than 30 days, go back to the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website, www.ceac.state.gov. Click on DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. Click the tab for “Retrieve an Application.” Hopefully you took note of the application ID number from the DS-160 you submitted earlier, because you’ll need to enter that application ID number in the box. Then click the Retrieve Application button. Next, you’ll have to answer the security questions to get back into your form. Once you’re in, correct your mistake, then review everything, then electronically sign and submit the application You will be given a new confirmation and bar code to print and bring to your interview. If more than 30 days have gone by since you submitted the application with the mistake on it, you can upload that application back into CEAC – if you saved it on to your computer or other storage device. Go back to the CEAC website, click on DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, choose the consulate or embassy where you will be applying from the drop-down menu, and then click the "Upload an Application" tab. Then choose the location of your saved file, and click the Upload Data button. After making your changes, save and submit the new application. You will be given a new confirmation and bar code. If you never saved your original application, and it’s been more than 30 days since you submitted it, you’ll need to start over again. Go back on the CEAC website and fill in a new DS-160. Print the confirmation page for this new application. You might be wondering which application the visa officer at the consulate or embassy will be looking at when you go for your interview. If you used the first (incorrect) DS-160 submission to schedule your visa appointment or pay the MRV (visa application) fee already, you will need to bring to your interview the confirmation pages from both the new (corrected) and the original (incorrect) DS-160. If you haven’t scheduled your interview or payed your MRV fee yet, you’re probably OK just bringing the confirmation page from the newer, corrected DS-160. (You can bring the old one too just in case, but make sure you mark it as the old one.) It’s not a good idea to show up for your interview expecting the visa officer to make a correction to the DS-160 at that time. Usually the visa officer will end the interview and make you submit a new DS-160. Most of the time this will require you to reschedule the interview for another day. If the mistake you made on your DS-160 is small, you might be able to correct it during an interview. It has to be a mistake about something not very important, however. Your mistake about your birthday is not a small mistake, because it affects what will be printed on your visa. Other mistakes can affect the visa officer’s decision whether to give you a visa. But a visa officer at the interview may be willing to let you correct a mistake that won’t matter very much, such as a misspelling on an address of a company you worked for five years ago. If you have any doubt about the importance of the mistake, it’s best to submit a corrected DS-160 before you go to the interview. |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by LadyGuinivere: 11:46pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
jamil002:Yes you will. If you also need hot water along the way you can ask for. But won't carrying dry cereal and making when neccessary be better in the long run as opposed to pap? |

LadyGuinivere: Thanks @ Lady Guinivere...but my baby doesn't like cereal at all,iv tried different types, he just prefers pap,den any solid food..I'm confused |

seyewest: Thank you so much Seyewest. Just getting to this. Will they update the barcode too? Cos it's clearly stated that you won't be allowed into the hall with DS160/ appointment confirmation barcode irregularities. Can you share more insight please? Or who has experienced something like this? |

What visa are you planning to relocate on? As someone already said if it is visit visa then it would illegal to try to work in the US and tbh the life will be difficult. immigrant visa options include via marriage (but you are already married), or via work ie transferring to US office of your employer or getting a job with a US based firm who agree to sponsor you. adezie: |

LadyGuinivere:It's confusing... if there's something wrong with your DS160 form or data.. Do another one and email the embassy for update. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by seyewest(m): 10:40am On Sep 12, 2016 |
Pitykitten:Yes they will update the barcode and ds160 number that's the reason for contacting them in the first place and it must be before 48 hours to the interview. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by seyewest(m): 10:45am On Sep 12, 2016 |
shilam:My take on this is simple... the 5 cardinal points are; 1)Why are you traveling to U.S 2)Where are you traveling to in the US 3)When are you traveling to U.S 4)State your ties to Nigeria 5)What will bring you back to Nigeria Answer these questions truthful and I believe you have 50/50 chance although nothing is cast in stone and it's the beauty of American visa and this makes it unique to every other visa application. |

Flight prices are quite low at the moment and it's very cheap traveling from Lagos and also check out Egypt Airways they are super cheap compare with other airlines although they are not below N300,000 it's better than the crazy N500,000 we all see in July and August. Safe trip 1 Like |

ezeomoba: What was the exact rejection code given on your letter? Something like 214b? or something else. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by LadyGuinivere: 1:08pm On Sep 13, 2016 |
@Ezeomoba the reason for the refusal is 214b. The vo weighed everything and decided you didn't have enough ties. My opinion : Blogger. Not a job that can hold anyone down. You can blog from anywhere. I don't know why u asterixed your salary. No travel history . Dubai and ghana really aren't really High on the travel history weight. As for your chances, like it has been said here 1 million and one times and literally on every page, NOBODY KNOWS 1 Like |

I will like to bring to our notice that we are losing sight of what this thread is all about. This Thread is not only for U.S NON IMMIGRATION VISA interview but also for the experiences at the various POE in the U.S. In the last 4 months I think we have less than 3 POE experience which is kind of unimpressive when you see the number of issued visa. Also this is not a Question and Answer thread but a discussion forum where we share ideas, educate each other, correct where necessary and also await the opinion of the U.S Visa Officer in some cases. I know we can do better. NB: When they denied applicant tourist visa to visit U.S I wonder why they don't bother to try another country for the tourism purpose even if it was an African country and I believe this will show good intent when next you re-apply to visit the U.S 6 Likes 2 Shares |

ezeomoba: There is something about this question or similar (when can I reapply?) anytime I see it, that makes me think 'desperation'. Travel to the USA is not the be all and end all. There are other places to visit, with great sights and which require that you simply provide documentation (ticket, hotel accommodation, etc). If and when there is a significant change in circumstances, or something really important you need to do in the US, reapply and explain those circumstances clearly and confidently to the VO. It could be after a year, it could even be after one day! And for the record, weddings are important events for seeking visas. You just have to convince the VO that you have strong enough ties to bring you him. I was at a wedding recently in the US where the groom's family were denied visas. The wedding went on, but it wasn't quite the same. |
