To everyone, please people keep telling me I can't book a one way Airline ticket to Malaysia, that the don't allow it again, that I will encounter problem if I do as a 1st time traveller and when I check their website I see options for one way without any clause, please u guys should clear the air on this and is it true that Nigerian Atm are no more working in Malaysia? @Truth234 @youngbilly1

You can book a one way ticket to KL, the immigration in KL won't bother you if you book a one way or a round trip because your University representative will come to the airport to clear you at the immigration. But you will have issues in MMIA check-in they would want to extort/delay you. Personally i remember i booked a round trip to avoid delays/extortion.

Hello guys, please this one i'm seeing all these NDLEA certificate stuff now, please I am travelling to Malaysia for a social visit and intend to obtain a social visa. A total of 5 days with my return ticket. Would I be denied visa if i don't do the NDLEA thing? I am just hearing about it even and it's not on the visa requirement documentations as listed on the immigration site. Please someone kindly clarify. Do i need it for a 5 day visit? Thanks.

Thanks bro, but i see something about it being for first time travelers to countries outside west africa. can anyone kindly shed more light on this?
The immigration site put it this way:
9. Original and copy of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Certificate (for all first time traveller to countries outside West Africa);
Re: Ask Me Anything About Malaysia And I'll Give You A First Hand Information by youngbilly1: 5:31am On Sep 14, 2016
@ Areolae getting a social visa might be difficult with all the documents needed, but please and please for your safety don't give any travel agent your passport in Nigeria to process Malaysian social visa for you. Whatever the stress face it yourself in the Malaysian Embassy. Travel Agents in Nigeria are issuing FAKE visa stamp that even come with receipts.

Thanks @youngbilly1, i would endeavor not to use agents. But how does one explain this NDLEA cert for first time travelers outside West Africa. Can one that has recently travelled to Malaysia on a social Visa kindly really explain this as i have the other documentations needed.

I think this is very straightforward; meanwhile, by implication, if this is the first time you will be traveling to a non- west African country/nation, then you will need the NDLEA visa clearance certificate.

Gbangbalicious:
pls do you know the exchange rate of naira to ringgit using ATMs in Malay? Anyone?

Though, I haven't used a Nigerian card for ATM withdrawal for some time, but to the best of my knowledge, it is between N110/RM to N130/RM. The government of the day in Nigeria has really affected us with its ineffective and inconsiderate economic policies which is responsible for the weakened Naira to RM exchange rate.

I still remember vividly how we used to withdraw from the ATM @ N50/RM as far back as last year, months prior to the Nigerian election period and the eventual change of the ruling government. Unfortunately, there is no hope that this would get better anytime soon.

As a result, people have resorted to getting RM from the black market here in Malaysia, and others, by means of receiving outbound money transfer (i.e MoneyGram, Western union, etc) from their families and relatives back home. Nonetheless, the aforementioned means have their own upsides and downsides respectively.

All the best with your proposed trips.

So if one has previously travelled out of Africa, we don't need it then? Are you certain about this!?

Am I certain about it? Of course, not. I simply interpreted the lines you pasted to the best of my knowledge. Nonetheless, to be on the safe side and for you to be sure about things, why don't you call up the Malaysian embassy in Abuja for further explanation on this, to know where you actually stand. You can reach them via the phone line published on their website's homepage.

If You've traveled out of West Africa, you wont need the NDLEA clearance eg If you've traveled to South, Kenya, Tanzania, UAE , US, Europe, Uk etc.

@ifyalways, thanks for ur response. i v been to SA before only. But i'm just kinda scared that these ppl can still be funny with their requirements and still say it's required since SA is still Africa, even though it ain't West Africa. Do u have any personal experience on this?

Thanks.

And thanks to the other peeps that also answered my query.
