NB: the laptop is a HP 655, its OS is windows 8 and has an AMD processor...

pls dont attempt to copy ur files,os,app directly as someone earlier suggest....it wld never work...
the right way is called "CLONING" which would mirror ur system along with all the hardware id with lie like u never left the system

Sometimes it gives me the format option but I can't format it for my valuables contained in it. It shows on the computer some times and doesn't at other times. How can I fix it.

Please, I need assistance on this issue I started noticing in the early hours of today.

Whenever I try shutting down my PC, just before it shuts down, it brings out a notice that an application is currently running and preventing the PC from shutting down properly with an option to either cancel the shut down and go back to close the application normally or continue the shut down which forces the application to close on it own.

This should be normal if indeed I have an application running but the issue is, I don't have any programme open or running before attempting to shut down and neither does the notice tell me the name of the application that's running in background and the application icon is unknown.

I notice that my PC takes some time to boot and I guess the application might equally be responsible for this and my programmes take longer time to open when double-click on. Also, the speed of my cooling fan is running faster even when I'm not running any application or heavy application.

Also, my battery life has reduced. Normally, when fully charged, and if I move my mouse to the battery sign, I get 5 hours of usage even though it will last for 3 hours. But now, it shows 2 hours and last less even on 100% charge.

All these started when I did the following;

1. Defragment my hard drive.
2. Crack a version of Utorrent.
3. Install Google Chrome.

PC is HP Elitebook 8480p.

always seek advice before u before some operations...in your case,2 things are the suspect "defragment" and google chrome..
google chrome has multiple processes running on your system so if your ram is small then it becomes a problem
try this quick solution....do a system restore to an earleir date before u performed the first action if u have one earlier created

One of my folders in my external hard disk has become hidden, even after scanning it with my updated AVG antivirus & also doing some other fixing of errors with my MS-DOS on it. Please i need help to make that particular folder visible again. Thanks

Kindly quote the stop erro code you are getting along with the bluescreen, also does this occur only when playing pes?

Do a power cycle/discharge: remove the battery, unplug, hold down power button for 20-30 seconds, plug the laptop but don't put in the battery, then power on.

Please someome should help me. Not long ago, I bought an hp probook laptop and I have been enjoying it for quite a while until recently I started having some issues
1. I first install window 7 and when it suddenly show non system disk error, I format it and upgrade to window 10. That I enjoyed for a while also.
Later, I discovered that if I switched it on, it take more time to load the window and this degenerated to window unable to start and it will start repair and attimes it takes a whole day. This is quite frustrating.

I later switched back to window 7 and after a while maybe a week, the problem will start again

Go to your search menu and type defrag, navigate and click on defragment and optimize your drives, in the next menu , under scheduled optimization, click on " turn off" . The scheduled optimization which runs in the background maybe responsible.

if this isn't responsible, then you must have downloaded a program from one these dubious sites which tricks you into downloading their PUPs and adware by offering you a free application.
Check your installed programs and remove any app you didn't authorize.
