Started at QPR's youth system... Spent about 5-7yrs there right?... Hardly knew he was at QPR sef... Lol... continued at Liverpool where he spent 2yrs in Liverpool's youth system before starring for the senior side from 2012-2015 (at age 17+ till he was 20+)... Annnndd.... Now at Man City at 21 going on 22 in December.

So lemme see.... Hmmm...

QPR take the basic fundamental years of Sterling's youth devt while Liverpool take the Advanced fundamental years of his youth devt...
He's basically a product of both academies but Liverpool will take credit for his later stage devt before his move to City.

So I'll say he's a liverpool "youth" product. At QPR, he was still a "cadet"...

Calling him a cadet would be a little unfair to QPR because he was sold for a substancial amount. That shows he was at a good level at even that stage.

Talent wise, one of the best in the World. I believed that before he left Manchester United.

Paul Pogba is one player that I had interest in. Followed him from when he joined Manchester United in his young teens.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson felt he was not ready and brought Paul Scholes back from retirement. SAF wanted Pogba to know how to control the midfield with simple passes. Not the wild runs, the mazy dribbles or the breathtaking skills. Do it the simple way. Unfortunately, Pogba was not ready to learn and left. Sad Conte could not pass this knowledge because Pogba still does not know how to keep it simple.

When you watch Pirlo or Thiago Motta play, you feel their presence. Watch Fernandinho against Manchester United. He owned that midfield. It was his world. Drop Pirlo in that position and take out Pogba and Pirlo will take over.

That is what Pogba missed not sitting on the bench and watching Scholes. He felt he was ready. This is something that comes Natural to Mikel. The simple and beautiful way.

I saw the list of promoted players by Guardiola. Five which are Angus Gunn, Tosin Adarabioyo, Angelino, Maffeo, Aleix Garcia. I wondered what happened to Manu Garcia. I did not know he was at Deportivo Alaves.

I did not watch closely in the last game against Barcelona where they beat Barca 2-1. They play a similar style to Atletico Madrid and I see them staying up. He was on the bench.

Even without Pirlo he was still doing it for Juva last season. Bros, the lad is more of a box to box midfielder and not a deep or holden midfielder.

That is his style and I don't think he needs to be forced to play shot passes when he is good at long passes. Besides, he was assist master in the Serie A league. So, what does he need to learn again?

The transfer window was crazy for City with Sane, Gundogan, Nolito, Stones coming in and Bony, Mangala, Nasri, Hart, Denayer leaving on loans that I missed Garcia's transfer. I hope he makes it but I think Gundogan's capture made him change his mind to make a name for himself somewhere. I hope he makes it at City.

I think I will also consider Nacho a Man City Youth Product.

Why? Here's why...

Nacho joined Man City's Academy (The EDS) in 2014 at age 17 shortly before his 18th birthday.

Before that, he had his first preaseason with them at age 17 in the summer of 2014 training with and being tutored by City coaches.

He's been with the EDS since October 2014 before his breakthrough into the first(senior) team in September 2015.

His growth was rapid and his rise super meteoric becasue he was such a super special talent who didn't need to wait an extra year before featuring in senior games frequently.

Remember he was the most outstanding talent at UAE 2013 and possibly the finest talent ever seen in the history of the Fifa U-17 World cup based on his stats and performances.

It's true that Nacho honed his basic skills while in Nigeria and is also a natural super talent as most of his features as a player can't even be taught to all youngsters.

But he became even more monstrous at Man City's Academy/EDS... The Work the likes of Patrick Viera and co put into Nacho was amazing and he picked up quickly and inculcated what he learnt quickly and smartly into his game hence his super quick rise. And he's still only 19.

Bottomline: His Advanced Teen years (a player's critical key devt. time) were all spent at Man City.

why na? U guys are still avoiding the fact that he was going to Chan which is a senior tournament. He was already a youth product at that point. Without Nigeria(academy/u-17) Iheanacho could have never reached the level were he had his pick from any club in the world. I am sure there were at least 5 teams in the epl that would have put Iheanacho straight in their starting lineup upon arrival. Man City just happened to win the bid. As for coaching i wouldn't expect any team to buy a player and not coach him up. Every team has their own system and when a new player arrives he must be put up to speed.

Definitely, he can not learn now. It is late. He is now a box to box player. However, I feel he is not perfect for the box to box like Arturo Vidal. That was why Conte played him wide some times and had Vidal do the protecting.

I think Mourinho should reduce Pogba's defensive responsibility and give him more license to attack. The time to learn has passed with the heavy price tag on his shoulders.

I say he brings Rojo back into the defence and play Blind and Fellaini in defence/central midfield. Giving Pogba freedom to move from the midfield to attack. This will make him utilize his skills, pace and shot power.

I do get your points. And no, I am not avoiding any fact. All he achieved up to that point at age 17 was the basic fundamental which launched him no doubt.

But his Advanced teen years (a very key and critical devt stage for any young player) were spent under the world class academy youth coaches at Man City's Etihad Campus.

That added to his already "beastly-like" Super talents has made him even more super valuable today and hey! He's still only 19... Will be 20 next month and just imagine what kind of "Monster" he is going to become when he hits his peak...


So In conclusion, Credit Nigeria's U-17 System and Taye academy in owerri for his Early teens devt period.

But his advanced teens devt period which is so so critical is credited to Man City and their coaches.

So yep... He's as well a Man City Youth product.
