Simply ask your sister to confirm the statement since she is the owner and you guys believe it is genuine. A confirmation from the bank account manager would suffice for this.

Rproxy88:
Just got a mail from Accra informing me the statement I submitted is fake and have been given fifteen days for representation my sister is my sponsor please house I need your advise.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Gymme(m): 6:57pm On Sep 13, 2016
I don't think they have that luxury time to do so, considering the 16 weeks or so processing time. The documents submitted by the applicant are enough for them to make a decision.

toluene1234:
Please someone should confirm to me if VO or Embassy does call sponsors to confirm applicant authenticity or employer to confirm employee status. Gurus should please respond. Thanks

I'm not exactly sure what your disagreement is. In any case, I don't think there's anything about my advice that sounds outrageous.

You seem to want to hold firm to the idea that all is bad and horrible for foreign degree holders who plan to come to look for a job in Canada. I happen to not fully agree with you on this. (Of course I agree that it is a disadvantage, but not an insurmountable one, you seem to want to paint it as insurmountable which I will never agree with).

Also the fact that you live in Canada doesn't mean any different opinions by other people are automatically wrong. Nah. Your residence in Canada doesn't mean people with opinions different from yours are wrong. Sorry. Don't forget that you have your own blindspots included by the province you live in, your profession, etc. Before my sister moved to Canada, she had a friend in Canada who sounded just like you which discouraged her from moving to Canada. Now that she's in Canada she is glad she ultimately disregarded her friend's pessimistic opinion. I'm afraid to say that as a reader I don't see why you are harping on how things are bad for foreign degree holders (or people with degrees from other provinces) as though it were unsalvageable. While I am far from a blind optimist, I like to see problems from the perspective of how they can be solved. Your posts don't do this.

Most of your complaints about Canada also happen to apply to the US as well, but you offhand dismiss the usefulness of my post because you think you know so much about Canada for me to have an accurate opinion. Ok. Fair enough.

While the US economy is much larger than Canada's, don't forget that there are ten times more peole in the US competing for the best jobs. The fact that the US has a much bigger economy doesn't mean that it is wayy easier for an immigrant with foreign credentials to get a good job there than it is in Canada. Anyways, this is not my point. All of your examples about retaking regulatory exams (e.g. for doctors, pharmacists, etc) in Canada also apply in the same way in the US. US employers are very narcissistic and nationalistic, but you think only Canada has this issue hence I have no clue what I'm talking about. Lol. Anyways bro, do your thing.

Since you know so much about Canada and you have dismissed my views repeatedly, then it would be beneficial if you expended some effort regaling us all with all the unique info about Canada that posters like me are supposedly clueless about.
Read my last post again..but slowly this time, and kindly point out where I posted a gloomy picture..I even used myself as an example. I pointed out a trend, but that flew over your head. I overcame the challenges and several many Nigerians like me. We all have high level of education and experience from world class companies from different part of the world. I even mentioned that slydog's uncle (a former halliburton staff) working as a security guard today doesn't mean he won't eventually get into his profession just like his sister-in-law did. Note I came in when you even need at least a masters degree to qualify for residency, so Canada did not give PR's to dullards or people that don't know how to tailor resumes to Canadian standards.

Fact still remains that you have an idea of how things work in the US, but no so much about Canada. What you have are hearsays. You do not live here as an Immigrant neither are you a foreign born Canadian. Your sister(hearsay) living here does not qualify you as a subject expert in this case. I do not class myself as Mr know it all, but I have first hand experience. I have been on interview panels. I have mentored people. I have helped Nigerians from the US migrate here successfully (last was a doctor with MPH from Harvard Uni). I have helped people transit easily from world class co-operations like pwc and GE in Nigeria to good jobs in Canada. My advise is so that people may know the difficulty they may encounter in breaking into the job market; therefore, to come prepared. This would be my last post on here. I have got important stuffs to do than going back and forth with arguments. I still respect your opinion. Thanks and have a nice day! wink

*recent conversation last week with a colleague of mine from PG school in the UK who is now an HR manager with pwc in Nigeria. Dude won't even leave Nigeria without getting a job in Canada despite all our advise of breaking into the market. i am sure he know much more bout securing jobs. Lol.*

If i were a VO, i would ask my self 'Does this guy still work with the company since the last letter? What would cost him to get another updated letter? Or why is he this desperate to re-apply without a new employment letter?'

You could use the same letter but i'm not sure it's gonna cost much (money and stress) to get another one. Remember, you are giving this re-application your best shot (no more flimsy reason for denial from them). So why not play safer!

bro i don't understand you and i don't think you understood @Mikymiko's post you commented on,if he started working in April and his employment letter was dated April,i see no reason updating the employment letter again in his re-application.if it were introductory letter or payslips,i would say certainly that an update is needed or if he got a new employement,i would say while the old employment remains to cover the gaps, the new employment surfaces with the current date if he got one though.

You are good to go with the employment letter and do not complicate matters by getting another letter, u getting another one will make the VO thinking u that started work last month u wan flee ur employers probably maybe u committed a fraud, besides i av never seen a big company reissuing employment letter.

Haba nah! You guys should just make this matter lay low. Ok, i am heading the accounting department here and i applied for the job (as part time) with my BSc Accounting degree obtained from Great Ife (Lol). That was while i was still a student here but after defending my thesis, my boss immediately tied me down with a full time position and benefits.

This is not the case for every international student here so it is a matter of God's grace and favour. Self-determination and hard-work is no joke too. I know the jobs i did in the past and i know how i have carried my 'always updating' (Lol) resume around downtown to submit to companies, knowing the fact that some of the Admin Assistants (Secretary) would throw my resume in the trash bin immediately i turned back (i later got a job in one of those accounting firms and they didn't even remember me). So all fingers are not equal.

Thanks. Slydogs question was actually meant to be posted in the FSW thread and not here. But just felt like advising him all the same. I moving on to the FSW thread..More ''like minds'' on there than here...I think most here are just school leavers with few years of real life work experience.

An updated employment letter could actually be re-issued but not sure of his company's situation. So he should just use his old employment letter if he is still in the current job position. If it is a recommendation letter, he should get a new one.

You are dismissive of my opinion without telling me what I am stating wrong. You dismiss most of the advice I gave, but you initially provided none better, which is what started this back and forth. We are here to help each other not to bring each other down. You seem to care so much to come out as the knowledgeable one; I have posted so much on this thread (this is a deliberate sacrifice that I, as a humanist, value) but I am quick to apologize if someone feels insulted by my post; I extended this attitude to you but you insist on trying to paint by views as clueless yet you haven't pointed out what you disagree with.

Note that I did not disagree with your position that it is difficult to get a job with foreign credentials. All my advise was how to compensate for that issue, which I feel you did not initially address. A great skill to learn is to disagree with people without trying to sound condescending. Also learn to admit when you may have painted an absolutist picture, which was what your first post did.

You've still not said one thing I said wrong. I stand by all the advice I gave, even if you think you know them all already; other readers will benefit. Cheers.

PS: I recognize that you were trying to paint a realistic picture, my issue was the excessive pessimism which you began to correct with each subsequent response to me. Btw, I won't toot my own horn about how I know what I know about both Canada and the US (in the interest of anonymity). But paradoxically, the fact that I live in the US doesn't mean I know it all about the US, actually I don't. My living in the US doesn't make me an expert on everything US-related, contrary to your view that living in a country means your views on how things run in that country are accurate. I wouldn't be on this thread if where you live is directly proportional to your knowledge about that place.
