Why Is The Call For Biafra Always Seen As A Call For War By Nigerians? by RedTarantula: 11:33am On Sep 15, 2016 |
There is a trend on nairaland I have observed. Whenever there is a call for Biafra or any thread about Biafra, you will notice people shouting at Igbos asking why they want another war. Some will even say they don't want another refugee situation, bla bla bla. My question therefore is why is a call for separate existence seen as a call for war? If a partner in a marriage says they want a divorce how is that seen as a call to take up knives and clubs to fight? Someone educate me please. Where have you heard people shouting 'One Germany, One Ghana, One Canada, etc' before? 5 Likes 1 Share |

That's because there is the ignorance factor at work. Beyond that though is mischief in that they refuse to be honest and consciously address obvious problems that give rise to the calls for separation. They rather bullishly insist on an obviously unworkable solution and then throw in d fear factor to deliberately squelch the voices that need to be heard. The primary questions that need to be addressed are: What is the basis of this unity? Where are the terms of agreement upon which we agree to be united? If there are none then can we discuss terms? What is d basis or procedure of power rotation? What are the terms of engagement to ensure peace and maximum productivity? Once these can be honestly addressed, we can be on our way to some semblance of development. While this being done, the fear of separation should be muted completely and that option must be on the table. If after terms are agreed upon one region or another is not satisfied, they should be free to step out without rancour! 12 Likes |

Because without One Nigeria, hunger will kill Hausa-Fulani and yorubaa. Remember yorubas are no different from Hausa-Fulani if you have lived in core south west states and see their living conditions . No difference except yorubas have used propaganda and media to hide their true backwardness. They know if One Nigeria ends, Yorubaa will be exposed as one of the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on humanity. The first two posters below you are Yorubas. You see how they rush enter this thread, it's because they know that their survival as a people depends on One Nigeria. Many of them carry Biaafra for head pass IPOB. Lol! In fact if you gave a knife to a yoruba to kill either Shekau Boko haram leader or Nnamdi Kanu, they kill Nnamdi Kanu without even blinking because again he is threatening their existence as a people...to end One Nigeria. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

RedTarantula: What do you expect when the agitators behave like hooligans? Even online here, you will be hearing statements like "We now have enough equipment to defeat FG" "PMB will think this is still the era of using cassava stick to fight Nigerian armies" etc 'Our dilector' even solicited for guns abroad while addressing Ibos in one of the video clips I watch on YouTube. Because the first Biafra led to a war and millions lost their lives. We Nigerians are simply telling u biafrans the truth, there is no way u will not leave Nigeria without war, u can keep denying the fact. We owe the igbos nothing, u surrendered unconditionally, u surrendered without any condition. We did not promise u any territory to use to build Biafra after the war. That is why the Nigeria has every legitimacy to use brute force against u people. One other reason is that Nigeria see u people as weak, we already know if there is another war, u will never win, because u will never outgun the army, the worst that will happen is that the war will be prolonged for many years. 2 Likes |

It is part of the propaganda the Federal Government initiated after the war in other to silence Biafra. Biafra was made to represent war. Many people, even younger generation Igbos imbibed this false ideology to the extent that just mentioning Biafra, some will say you are calling for war. Remarkably, the Biafran agitation has always been a peaceful thing right from when Ojukwu declared it on 30th May 1967 to this day. Some silly people will say that Ojukwu started the war but when you remind them that it was Nigeria that came down to the East to start fighting, they have nothing to say. It has always been Nigeria that brought violence and war into the issue of Biafra. Not one Biafra agitator has ever been found with arms, but they are the ones who are at the recieving end of bullets of the Nigerian security agencies. Since the year 1999 when Uwazuruike formed MASSOB to this day, nobody has lost their life to Biafran agitators and protesters, but many have been gunned down by the Army and Police. It has always been Nigeria that brings violence and war into the issue of Biafra, all the time. 16 Likes 1 Share |

victorvezx: Afonja as expected. If you you read my post above, you will understand why he is threatened. Let me tell you something Afonja...if there is ever another war Walahi talahi Hausa-Fulani will not sacrifice their own like they did in the first one were over 80% of fatalities on the Nigerian Military were Northerners. This time around, they must conscript by force Yorubaa men between the ages of 16-45. Since you so much love this One Nigeria, you must sacrifice also. Northerners know this and don't think you can sit back in the SW like in the first war while northerners were dying. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

CSTR2:Lol, u never see anything. Everybody knows Ivory Coast fought a civil war, because thousand died. How about u test buhari, then u can judge if he is man enough like Putin, or has an army that can be good enough like Putin army. And for ur information, there is no United Russia, even in Chechnya, there low level secessionist insurgency, and also there re autonomous regions in Russia that want secession since after the fall of the Soviet Union till now, but due to fear of Putin and the Russian army, they can't even try. The Chechnya-Russian war is like an example to them of what will happen to them if they dare Putin army by trying to secede. Also, is Morocco not a third world country located in Africa? Why did NATO and U.N not intervene in the war but allowed Morocco to kill and subdue the secessionist?. And for ur information, Buhari is not a genocidist, at least, the world does not recognize him as such, it's only u brainwashed biafrans that see him like that, just because he fought in a war that was NECESSARY. 1 Like |

wizzyrich: Their idea of "one Nigeria" is one built on injustice where they can achieve their selfish interests at the expense of others. It was never about patriotism to Nigeria, it's about what they stood to gain from Nigeria unity. Ojukwu asked the same questions for Nigerian unity in Aburi. Those who stood to entrench injustice rejected all agreements reached at Aburi and went about screaming "One Nigeria". 1 Like |

Igboid:Lol, Ojukwu too was a selfish man, he want a Nigeria that will benefit only the easterners. The Aburi accord was more like telling other Nigerians that they have no right over the crude oil resources in the Niger delta. Ojukwu was selfish, he wanted confederation, he wanted greater autonomy over the oil resources, which means that the Nigerian government won't have any say over the crude resources.he only wanted the oil for u easterners alone . But we no agree. We all know that Nigeria will never agree to such deal. The oil resources must be shared among everyone. No wonder u people are so selfish |

victorvezx: You are silly to be comparing Russia with Nigeria. Russia is a world power capable of manufacturing military weapons, Nigeria is a failed state that imports even tooth picks. You needed foreign support for continuous supply of weapons to suppress Biafra the last time around. You can't defeat Biafra without those foreign support as they are more determined than you. Foreign support don't come cheap, the Caucasian powers or their Asian brothers are not father Christmas, they won't provide you with those weapons without concessions on your own part, you will need to sell off the soul of your already failed colonial entity to keep them on your side, and even with that, it won't be easy for you to put down Biafrans, but even if you succeed, you will end up with even more useless state than you have today, with your Caucasian masters squeezing tight on your neck with concessions you desperately made to them during your war time desperation. You will never realize your utopian African Giant status, but instead will remain a perpetual vassal state. Damn, as far back as 60's you needed to concession off Bakassi to Cameroun to win them over your side even with a Fulani Cameroonian president on seat. I bet this time around, you might need to concession off the entire Adamawa and Taraba states to Cameroon to win them over, now that the Fulani there are no longer in power. They could even go for the jugular and demand for oil rich Akwa Ibom and Cross river states. After all, there is no love found between Nigerians and Cameroonians, and Cameroon could as well capitalize on your desperation again, like they did before. If a Second civil war don't disintegrate Nigeria, it will render her entirely useless for eternity. |

No entity is useless as far as there are people, there is hope. just like every country that experienced war, we will start rebuilding again after war, while u biafrans will be busy burying ur dead, and getting bitter at the fact that u lost a second civil war with the same enemy. 1 Like |

victorvezx: You are silly. Nigeria won't defeat Biafrans. Foreign powers will, and Nigerian would have to pay them with the future of Nigeria to do so So in the end , everyone loses out. In other words, Nigeria can't win Biafra. Nigeria is incapable of winning Biafra, not when she can't manufacture tooth picks. |
