can anybody advice on first bank rate in the last bid?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Omonigeriarere: 11:05am On Sep 15, 2016
feelamong:
Bill Auction results Stop Rates: 14/09/2016

91day -14%

182day - 17.77%

364day - 18.48%

Is this applicable to all banks?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by adeg(m): 11:16am On Sep 15, 2016
@feelamong
Please respond. Which is best: 91, 182, 364 day tenor?

Also what's advantages and otherwise of treasury notes to t-bills

Thanks.

@feelamong

Thanks for your open-mindedness and willingness in sharing your knowledge and experiences.

Please based on your experience, which is best of the 3 tenors?

Also please write on how we can participate in the treasury notes and advantages or otherwise to t-bills.

Yes those figures refer to the people who went with the bank's rate. I did not go with the bank rate. All in all, the news is still good.

samkay12:
I'm not sure i understand why this good news.
Doesn't their rate of 18.10 being lower than 18.2 mean "bad news" for you?
Or do those figures only refer to people who went with the Bank rates and you have ended up with 0.1% more
Right?

Thanks.

Tenor choices for most individuals should be dependent on individual cash flow planning.

While you will find that the rates for 365days are typically the highest, this also means that you are not able to respond as quickly should the rates appreciate, for you to be able to take advantage.

Some individuals also simply do not have the energy to go through detailed studying requires prior to the bidding, towards ensuring they're submitting a winning bid. Rather do that for a 365 day tenor than four times for a 91 day tenor.

For me, I do not think there's any tangible difference in the tenors- just plan your cash flow and use that to plan the tenor of your investment.

Hi my people, please how do I calculate my yield. GTB subscribes to TB without my instruction and I want to know whether to accept or reject the bidding although I have been unsuccessful in my previous bidding with them.

I was credited with 42,314.18 on 500k in 182 days. Therefore, what is the % and is this a good bid?

Hello all, please someone who has bidded with GTB before should help me out. This is my first time using GTB. I submitted request for 3M at 13.98% and i understand the stop rate is 14%. I just saw debit alert in my email now for N2, 895, 722.95 for Tbills, 300naira for commission and 750naira for custodian fee. Please why was 3M not debited?

You requested for 3M naira so you'll get that 3M as facevalue at maturity and you will pay ~2.89M right now. See calculations below.

Yield/interests on TB is paid upfront. So, deduct the amount debited from your account from 3m to get your yield which the bank left behind in your account.

From your interest/yield, bank then deduct a certain % of administrative charges for service rendered.

Your interest for 3M 91 day NTB at 13.98% is N104, 562.73k , so when you minus the interest from 3M ,you will get the N2,895,722.950. ....I.e 13.98/100 ×30000000×91/365 =N104,562,73k

The N750 Custodian fee came from gtb 0.717% fee on the N104, 562.73k ....I. e x/100 ×104,562.73 =750 will give you 0.717%.......note some banks like stanbic ibtc bank charges 0.125% as Custodian fee.

The N300 transfer fee of your money to CBN is constant for all banks....

Hope my explanation will help

Oga feelamong and other gurus can confirm if am correct.

Thanks.

Those that went with stanbic ibtc bank rate for 91 day NTB were successful at 14% from CBN stop rate of 14%...maybe cbn PRORATED them at 50%, hence the debit of half your face value by the bank...

You can check the meaning of the word PRORATE from oga feelamong explanation yesterday

How did you arrive at 17.08%

@omonigeriarere

X x 500 k x .5 = 500k - 457311.79

X= 17.08%

Please correct me
