Please which store did you try the money order, i have tried two different stores with my GTBank card and transaction was declined. Thank you Hello Mamas, trust you are all doing well. Just a tip of how I was able to manage my way through the forex hustle ( and this might be useful for those that were not able to get PTA or travelex or those that need more forex apart what they cld get from banks or travelex. ). I used the Money Order approach, gave the money order to my host who then went to her bank and got me the cash equivalent. Stanbic has a limit of $1500 per month. You can do up to $500 per day (as per daily limit on POS transaction) and the charge on each order is $1.20. The exchange rate as at last week (and I also think today too) is N380 to a dollar which is a lot cheaper than black market (about N420/N425 to a dollar). If you can have multiple accounts it will increase how much you can get(e.g. 1 account for me, 1 for DH, 1 joint account, 1 for my daughter gave me a total of $6000 at N380. I also tried GTB too but their own market too cost (N395 to a dollar) and limit na 1000dollars per month. I hope someone will find it useful, otherwise just ignore.[/quote] 2 Likes |

True plus some banks require that you inform them about your travel plans (place and date of travel) so they can enable your card for foreign withdrawal/transactions. So the best thing to do is find out from your bank and do the needful as it applies. Niksie: 1 Like |

Good day powermike. Yes you can transfer from a 3rd party account. But make sure your wife goes to the travelex office/bank 1st to notify them of the name of the 3rd party transaction expected. Better still you can transfer to her account and she can make the payment herself so all documents are synchronous powermike9999: |

Hello people in the house, Our story goes thus......on September 1st, my wife had her interview at the embassy in Lagos. She was rejected though she told me the interview went well, but the interviewer(male) hammered on two main points which are 1. On her last visit to Dubai, she exited through e- gate and as such her passport was not stamped, so the interviewer was asking for the stamped and she explained to him that she exited through electronic gate and she was not stamped out but a sticker was sticked to the back of her passport(unknowingly for my wife the sticker had been covered with the us embassy sticker before she entered for her interview). She said the guy just shook is head. 2. Duration of stay in us.....my wife claimed one month(as advised by a family friend who is a travel agent who insisted she filled one month because anything more than that will not be given). So I guess the guy presume she was 8 months gone and said no airline will carry you at 8 months so ur visa app is rejected. Wife tried explaining that she was only 27 weeks then that she wanted to see doctor first before ascertain how long she will spend from her three months maternity leave, but fell on deaf ears. Fast forward to today.....we got a new appointment date and she went for her interview this morning (7:15 am). She said first thing was she noticed the woman trying to stick another sticker on her passport and she noticed it was same sticker as at last interview, Wife begged her not to stick on the same spot and wife removed the old us embassy sticker to reveal the Dubai exit sticker(though the woman was adamant on placing the sticker on the same spot if not for the interventions of her superior). She got in for interviewand was on the line and when it was her turn, the same guy that rejected her was next for her. She said the guy was just smiling and wife quickly said to the security lady that this guy interviewed me last that I will need to be interviewed by someone else, and the guy said that's true. So wife was interviewed by another woman. The only document asked for was Doctors letter and my bank statement. Then she asked wife why she was rejected last time and she explained, and she was asked to come back in three days for the visa. LESSONS TO OTHERS Be careful with the outsourced staff of the embassy, they make mistakes at times so monitor their activities. Be truthful with your application Then pray because we did that. Anyone with info any cheap tickets to Atlanta please pm o 24 Likes |

Oma92: Yea, I do. I had my baby last November in Michigan. I made a post about the hospital bills and my ob/gynaecology but that post was raptured ( guess I gave out lots of info then). My Dr's bill was $550, $150 @ 1st visit and $46 @ subsequent visits. Dr collects $150 for circumcision Hospital was $4500. I paid before my due date. Epidural bill was $1000 ( I haggled and it was discounted to $500. This bill came while I was already in Nigeria. I got back 15 days after delivery. I paid over d phone and zero balance was sent to my host's address. ) Baby's bill was $311 Visit to paediatrician cost us about $75....that's it for my bills. The entire experience was good. I'm an adventurous March 2017 mom. I think I'm headed to L.A. this time. By God’s special Grace. Forex rate ain't beans meeeennn 8 Likes 1 Share |

Good day, Nairaland family..! Been looking forward to sharing my experience here like most.. I am a first time mummy and I had my visa interview today. It went thus: VO: Good morning, ma'am. I: Good morning. VO: Are you having more than one baby? I: No, just one VO: Who are you going to stay with in the US? I: I am going to stay with my friend (name) and she resides in Richmond Virginia. VO: What do you do for a living? I: I am a medical Dr who works in a Government hospital (mentions the name) VO: What is your area of specialty? I: Told her I am yet to be fully specialised but currently work in the paediatrics department. VO: But why will you as a medical Dr leave your hospital and seek care elsewhere especially in the United States? (looking perplexed) I: I said: For one: I have first hand knowledge of how the system works here due to my profession and with this knowledge I made my decision to have my baby in US. Also, I discussed with my obstetrician before embarking on this and he is in full support. Moreover, I am well travelled and I know that US has the most reputable medical practise in the world. VO: What is the cost of this trip to you? i: Mentioned $10k and was trying to list the items on my budget sheet before she cut me off by saying: VO: I do not think that amount is close to what you would require for delivery in the States. I: That waa what I got from my research and enquiries- told her I contacted the hospital (mentioned the name) as well as the Dr (mentioned his name) and I was given an estimate. VO: How much do you earn? I: I earn .... VO: but what you earn is barely enough (she mentally converted it to naira and said the dollar equivalent) I: I know ma'am and that is why my husband is the sponsor not me. VO: Has your husband been to the US before? I: No ma'am VO: what does he do? I: He is into real estate (describes what he does specifically) and also into agriculture (gives details as well) VO: How much is in your husband's account as well as yours? I: Told her VO: May I see your bank statement? I: Mine or his? VO: His (handed it over and scrutinised it thoroughly) VO typed for what seemed like an eternity.. didn't realise I was sweating even with the a/c. My kabashing no get part 2. I was claiming the white paper (even though I didn't see it in plain sight). It was the pink that was staring at me in the face. Next I heard... Your visa had been approved.. didn't know when I tuned out from excitement .. Had to ask her to, please, repeat the rest of what she said.. She advised I not take medicaid and I should carry my husband's bank statement along to POE and if for any reason I cannot make full payment at once, I should make an arrangement with the hospital but settle all my bills eventually so as not to jeopardise future visa applications. It was not a walk in the park but it was obviously my God @ work!!! Sorry for the long post. Now on to PTA and very affordable flight hustle to Richmond Virginia. Please, nefertitiram, I am loyal, ma.... More great news to follow... Thank you, wonderful people of Nairaland!! 34 Likes 1 Share |

Hello everyone. I applied for PTA at First Bank, Motorways alausa on Friday, the 2nd of September with the help of my account officer. Got the number of one of the staff there, and followed up with him and my account officer all of last week. Finally got a call from him yesterday asking me to come pick up my PTA and bring my passport for inspection and stamping. However, they didn't give anyone cash. They gave $4k (N343.15/usd) on First bank Visa Prepaid dollar cards. Not what I envisioned or planned but half bread is better than none. Will use it to pay my bills. I have some $$ in cash I've been hoarding and with this, I'm finally ready for my trip next month. Between now and then, if I decide to change any more money, I'll face standalone BDCs. Just grateful to God for respite from all this stress because I applied for PTA at Stanbic and Unity. Please if your PTA has ever been loaded unto prepaid dollar cards, kindly let me know if you were able to use it seamlessly or if you had any issues. Now to put my feet up and wait for my travel date. Will share transcripts then. Thanks for all the info on here, everyone. God bless us and this journey we're on or about to go on. Praying for more good news all around. Amen. 4 Likes |

bissiejoe:Yeah I agree. The clowns got me worked up on the day of my interview. One of the clowns confirming reciept just before you enter inside the embassy building told me I didn't have correct receipt from GTB for the Visa application fee. He kept saying "go back and get the reciept" I said oya show me sample of the receipt you said I don't have, all he kept saying "go back and get the reciept". Thank God for his supervisor that got involved when I started shouting on the clown. At the end, the clown apologised for his error, because same reciept he was asking for is what I had. Yeye people |
