so you would have preferred he started quoting references after he finished the speech? you should be smarter than this.

For your information, plagiarism is when you copy someones work and take credit for it. then u can be stripped of honours and taken to court too, this I know.

But you cannot tell me Buhari has committed a crime by using part of someone's speech. Why because a speech is a vocalised form of communication, when its rephrased, becomes original. and hence its not a crime to copy part of someone speech if it fits with the occasion. leaders everywhere every time do it and you can research if you want.

moreover credit can't be given in this case because it was rephrased hence you can't say "like Obama said". The writers(criminal minds or not) are very aware and more learned than you are too.

After all my explanation though, you are still free to have an opinion that matters to no one, not even the original owner of the speech. Because haters can't be reasoned with.

ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ARE CONSIDERED PLAGIARISM:

- turning in someone else's work as your own
- copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
- failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
- giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
- changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
- copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not (see our section on "fair use" rules)

Most cases of plagiarism can be avoided, however, by citing sources. Simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing your audience with the information necessary to find that source is usually enough to prevent plagiarism. See our section on citation for more information on how to cite sources properly.

Nobody is above mistake, once you make one apologize, like the presidency has done and let us move. You create problems when you argue or try defending.

Buhari should resign for forging his change document

Copy and Paste or plagiarism in this context is not a crime, is it? People do copy part of each other's work. artistes, writers, film directors, students, are all guilty of this, it's not a new thing...next!

You must acknowledge the owner of any work you want to copy (and paste). If not it becomes a crime.

This government completely lack ideas and originality. I'm not surprised the country is in reverse mode ever since APC took over. Nepotism is the order of the day as the president has filled his kitchen cabinet with incompetent people. So sad for naija!

You definitely don't know the meaning of plagiarism. If you use someone's idea without giving credit to the original owner of the idea, it is pure plagiarism. The President needs to apologize, he clearly plagiarized. Unless Nigeria wants to redefine plagiarism. We have practically defined every concept different from the way everyone around the world does.

Who is the president's speech writer? The imbecille needs an AK straight to the head.

Somebody authored that shiit for Obama (usually). But our presidential speech writers keep phucking the hell up. The phool knew what he was doing and didn't think he would be found out.
If you want to seem or sound intelligent, don't do it with other people's words. Find yours. After all, they say words are cheap.

America may soon denounce Aishia's controversial visit.Abeg APC change is no by force.Enough of these lies.Team-#CHANGEBEGINSWITHLIES(Credit to a good friend).

What's all the whining for? The important thing you should ask yourself is,when Obama made his own speech, did he use it to launch a change crusade like buhari has done? Besides, buhari doesn't write speeches not monitors speeches other heads of states give. Lastly, obama's speech was to serve as a change of baton for the Americans. It wasn't about a change in character and other respects. Buhari intentionally set out to instill the needed change in our characters and other areas we Nigerians so badly need.

The love of everything America will definitely put a lot of Nigerians in trouble.

Just heard on NTA News that President Muhammad Buhari has directed the official involved in the plagiarism to be sanctioned!

I believe the president should also sanction himself for relying too much on speech writers. Why can't President Muhammad Buhari just fall back on and made little adjustments to the speech he delivered as a military Head of state while launching WAI (War Against Indiscipline) in the '80s?

The president should blame himself for the embarrassment.

No president in the world writes his own speech... A president must have speech writers.

Read what you type 50 times...I have helped you highlight what you must reread.

The Change begins with speech is credit to President Buhari just incase you missed it. So, why should he make part of Obama's speech look like it was his?

Don't try to defend someone by sounding ignorant yourself. Mind you, the Presidency has come out to apologize for plagiarising the Obama speech which now makes your defense senseless and stupid at the same time.

Don't be an educated zombie...don't be a disgrace to the learned.

You are very incorrect to say "No president in the world writes his own speech." It's not all speeches that goes to speech writers, and there is no rule(s) that says so.

At the end of the day, the president must accept responsibility for the speech he delivers to his audience, either written by him or by speech writers.

You cannot deliver a speech and run away from it.

Its an opinion and not an I must defend Buhari conversation (something you seem to think it is about).
We all have varying views about things and not every one is a Buhari apologist.

Like I said earlier does insulting the other person make you look more intelligent than him/her?

I don't know who you are but I seem to guess you must be one of those assigned to defend GEJ at all cost or attack Buhari/APC at every opportunity on NL (with the way you comment).

You can go ahead and enjoy your "victory" in finding a "fault" with the government of the day. at least it would boost your KRA.

Hahahahahaha!!! You tried attacking me but really, bro you suck at it.. First of all, I was civil in my comments directed at you, I didn't even insult you but stated the obvious.
