These his good news.

What I love about these MRAP, his the auto canon.

It is a beautiful vehicle. I love it design, i just hope they perform well after tests and the army can order multiple more units, say 500 over the next 10 years. I'm quite disappointed in the 9.

2016 has so far being a quite celebratory year for Nigerian defence. I'm excited.

However, i don't know whether the initial units would be delivered with auto-cannon to N.A. Subsequent units would, but unlikely the first units would come with auto-cannon.

Well, what do i know, i'm only just speculating.

you know the NA is too cheap for an auto cannon on an mrap nagrin.

great news though. our local defence companies need government patronage if they are to survive

dats good news but did dey exhibit d mrap in RSA

The first unit would be delivered this december for tests, while the 9 ordered would be produced in 2017. Besides it's a waste of money to take actual units to South-Africa at this point. Models and characteristics would do.

yes air to air missile
astra mk1 BVR AAM smokeless solid fuel rocket
astra mk2 BVR AAM dual pulse rocket motor with TVC (implemented barak 8 ) being tested in lab, awaiting testfire
un-named Long Range BVR AAM Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet Propulsion (SFDR) being tested in lab, awaiting testfire
scramjet HSTV (military version) first test to be conducted in next 2 months. (not AAM) still tech. might end up in future AAM

all AAM missiles r first tested in ground to air mode , so kind of easy to change role if the design parameters are meet.
demand follows supply , all the tech is here , only thing is user requirement
yeah it kind of lags , lets see grin

south africa definitely has better portfolio of air to air missiles. will need to invest money /resources to remain competitive.
Demonstrating tech and improving.

The ground to air covers the motor and aerodynamics.

The seeker ground tests isn't really ground to air but simply looking in the sky for stuff that passes. grin

Aerial tests! Is where tech maturity is demonstrated.

There isn't really much competition. Though some engineers in the early 2000s "migrated" east and further.

Developing them alone is useless. Joint besides risks means or increases the potential of intergration on different platforms.

The rate at which This beautiful thread is being derailled is becoming unbecoming.

IF YOU ARE GOOD AT WRITING,THAT IS ''SO GREAT'',BUT KINDLY MOVE TO THE DISCUSSION THREAD.

HENRY240 PLEASE, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.I KNOW WHY I'M SAYING THIS.REMEMBER THE OLD SAYING,''A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE''.
It might get to a point were all the theorists will move in here for derailment.(nairaland syndrome),and start comparing country A s military to country B's.

@pacretus.... you are right. pls @henry240 the thread says 'strickly pictures and videos only". do something

AAD 2016: Proforce ready to begin Ara MRAP
production

Nigerian Army has an initial order of 9 ARA MRAPs from Proforce defence. The first ARA to be delivered to the Army for testing this december.

Nigerian armoured vehicle manufacturer Proforce is
about to begin producing the prototypes of the Ara
('Thunder') mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP)
vehicle that it has developed for the Nigerian Army
with DICON, the state-owned defence industry
corporation.
Proforce's Ayobami
Omotoriogun told IHS
Jane's at the Africa
Aerospace and Defence
(AAD) show held in South
Africa on 14-18
September that the
company has the steel
and glass to begin
making the three
prototypes of the Ara.
He said the first should
be delivered in
December, at which
point the Nigerian Army will begin testing the vehicle.
While some adjustments may be made to the design
based on the army's feedback, he expects production
to begin on the nine vehicles it has initially ordered
early next year and added that the jigs are already in
place

I hope to see these MRAPS made with a dedicated assembly line.
Things are looking up.
Like OLIVER TWIST hopefully I would like to see a variant that has a Remote Controlled Weapon System.

Been ages but I'm back and going to address some issues

First of all thread have been going great, stopped posting cause my phone got wrecked and google cloud didn't backup the photos I wanted to share so for some reason I lost interest in getting em' back or posting...that's until now

To the guys moaning about having details in the thread, wtf are u guys trying to achieve? make this thread a boring place filled with photos?? a photo tells a story but needs details to make it more clear, sometimes without details u cant tell which country or the kind of weapon on a pic. The little discussion about AAD so far have been super fun and not derailing at all. Only those supporting a man who started his campaign with bigory, fear mongering and hate speech are derailing the thread...you know, the t.rump fanboys. Political threads are there for a reason.

Henry240 don't listen to the guys complaining about details, African military discussion with photos to back it up is great and can teach you 1 or 2 things you don't already know

Random, I apologize if any is a repost

i believe those hangars (shelters)are meant to protect the aircraft's from the extremes of weather e.g sun and rain, most countries leave their aircraft in the open. thous some of the avionics components life span is reduced , coatings deteriorate , transparencies, composites and wiring insulation breakdown from heat and moisture

Gee, I don't know. Of all the upgrades Rooivalk needs, I'd think getting into and prosecuting the fight ranks far higher than escaping the fight?
