It's easy to blame Miki & Lingard for the team's poor performance in the 1st half against City but I am still of the opinion that Mourihno's default plan was to hit City on the Counter..

Sorry, lemme get it right, do you mean park the bus and hit them on the counter?

Kinda...

The players weren't even pressing that much - they seemed to be more concerned with keeping a defensive shape.

We were pressed high unexpectedly by city in the first half and even at that we still didn't park the bus, it's difficult to tell what jose's tactic was in that match but i'm certain it wasn't to park the bus

We cant really press high because the make up of the team hasnt got the players to press high. We have very little pace and mobility in attack and midfield. JM has never really been a high pressing type of coach I dont think.

Point to the match this season were we parked the bus
Not Park the Bus per se. But for starters, the first half against City and the 2nd half against Feyenoord(up until the moment they scored).
We were camped in our half and too defensive oriented. We didn't even look like we were setup to counter sef.

We can only speculate but I think the decision to start Lingard for that kain match, coupled with "indomie" Mata (the slouch) dropping to the Bench...speaks volumes.

We even dont really need to press high like Liverpool or Hug possession like City.

Just show that attacking intent. Defend IF u ve to, and then pour bodies forward and attack when the opportunity shows itself.

Cant keep sitting back for significant portions of the game and then rallying late in the game when we're trailing or searching for a winning goal like we've been doing in our last three games.

What about when we played against Southampton and hull? two good performances and 1 and a half bad performances but why dwell on the 1 and a half though?

We could as well say the reason he started lingard was the same reason he started him in the community shield and mata's indomie movement wasn't going to be needed for a match with high intensity

But like you said, we can only speculate

I wouldn't blame Miki & Lingard for that possession stat though...

Personally, I think the only way people can lay siege to City's train is if opposition teams take advantage of Silva absence and stifle De bruyne's play like we did last season under Van gaal (courtesy of Schneiderlin) or many opposition teams did to Fabregas at Chelsea.

In spite of his form, de bruyne can be easily dealt with unlike Silva. I still can't believe the amount of space he was allowed in the Bournemouth game or the game against us and it wasn't surprising he looked quiet as soon as we improved our pressing and denied him the space in the midfield in the second half but sadly, Pep easily dealt with it with his own master stroke.

All I know is they are all human in the absence of David Silva right now and I know his imminent return will only make them more formidable because Pep built his team around Silva. They are doing fine now because their attack led by Debruyne are on fire but that can be easily stopped if the opposition coaches use their brain right now.

Southampton was a good game. I'm happy we won at Hull. But can we really say that was a good game overall?? Hull simply parked their bus and allowed us play our game. We saw how Arsenal dismantled the same Hull City today.

2 Ls in 6 six days especially when one of those Ls was against a team we should ve won is enough to raise one or two eyebrows.

Anyways, make we dey look how Mourinho go approach the game tomorrow b4 we delve further into this discussion....

We were going to lose some games this season, does it matter when and to who? There should be no cause for alarm yet as we are still fresh into the season, our brows can be raised mid season

cool

"It is a new event, it is another match. It starts minute zero at 0-0 so I think it has nothing to do with the previous two matches.

"But obviously when you lose matches, the mood, the feeling, is not the same. That's normal. But I think we are experienced players and the players are very good guys and I know they want to win and work, so that's what we have to do."

You're 100% right,De bruyne can still be stopped but that silva is another animal.
