I went tactical over this one. Let it not seem as if i am always against the introduction of new or foreign groomed players. Just like you pointed is he better than Omeruo?

On issue of Balogun, I believe Omeruo and Ekong can marshal that CB for Balogun to play RB. Balogun played RB under Keshi.

I believe that the CB role is more important than Rb, best to have your best player there. Omeruo can also play right back.

No-no. It requires one weak link to destabilize the whole defense. A weak RB means one of the CB would drift a lot towarda RB to provide cover thereby leaving a gap at the centre.

Shehu Abdulahi i believe should be able to cope at RB if we Balogun must play CB.

Who is "Orem"?

Ok u mean Omeruo.

Akpoguma's introduction is highly welcomed so we can add to our pool of CBs. I am not sure he is a better choice over Omeruo right now. But let us secure his international future first.

Nigeria Wonderkids Iheanacho, Iwobi Have
Most Assists In Premier League

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and
Arsenal wonderkid Alex Iwobi have the most assists in the Premier League after five rounds, along with two established European internationals, writes the official website of the
Premier League.

Of the fifteen goals City have netted in the English top-flight, Iheanacho has been directly involved in five (2 goals, 3 assists).

The 19-year-old provided assists in games against Stoke City, Manchester United and Bournemouth.

Alex Iwobi has assisted more than any Arsenal
player in the ongoing campaign despite missing
two games due to a thigh complaint.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) and Dimitri
Payet (West Ham) complete the top four.

- Kelechi Iheanacho - 3

MOVE OVER MESUT - IWOBI IS ARSENAL'S
NEW ASSIST HERO

The 20-year-old Nigeria international has made
more assists in 2016 than any other player in the Gunners squad, with three coming in as many games this term.

In carving out the most chances for his side,
Mesut Ozil is generally seen as Arsenal's most
important creative player.

But with no assists after four Premier League
games for the Gunners, the German has had no
direct effect this season other than his solitary
goal.

Luckily for Arsene Wenger, though, another
player has stepped up to make the difference in
that respect: Alex Iwobi.

The 20-year-old Nigeria international has been key not only this term but throughout 2016, having made five assists in the league this calendar year - more than any other Arsenal player.

Three of Iwobi's assists came this season, despite the winger playing just three league games.

IWOBI MUST KEEP HIS HUMILITY, SAYS
ARSENE WENGER

The tactician feels that the attacker's attitude has helped him a great deal in the Gunners' squad following his impressive outing against Hull City.

Arsene Wenger has praised Alex Iwobi in the wake of Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Hull City on Saturday.
The Nigerian followed up his awe-inspiring
showing against Paris Saint-Germain in the
Champions League on Tuesday with two assists at the KCOM Stadium.

Aside extolling Iwobi for his performance against the Tigers, the manager wants him remain humble.

"Yes, he had a good performance, and you want him to improve," Wenger told Arsenal website.

"He is 20 years old, and I think he has talent, he has ambition, he has a big passion for the game and until now he has humility. We have to take care that he keeps that quality, because it’s an important one.

"But he has gained confidence and power. I
believe as well he has a good combination
between quick passing, picking players out and
running with the ball. He gets that balance right, until now, and that’s not easy."

”BLACK SENDEROS” TWITTER REACTS AS
ISACC SUCCESS FLOORS MAN UNITED
BAILLY WITH SLICK TURN

Nigerians have taken to twitter to post their
reactions on the skills of Watford big money buy
Isacc Success which took Manchester United
highly rated defender Eric Bailly to the floor.

Success was introduced for the final six minutes of Watford’s shock 3-1 win over Manchester United, and the Nigerian who had more take ons than any other Watford player despite spending six minutes on the pitch, gave Bailly a dose of what made Watford splash big to sign him from Granada.

His pace saw him outwit the Ivorian defender in
their first battle as they battled for a 50-50 ball just halfway pass the centre mark in the Manchester United half of the pitch, leaving the former Villareal defender on the floor.

The former Nigeria youth international later
showed his quick feet in the box of Manchester
United, turning smartly away from Bailly which
sent the defender crashing to the turf and forced twitter into a a frenzy.

”It took Isacc Success just few seconds to reveal to us that Bailly is just a Black Senderos, nothing special” One user wrote, while another followed with a post saying

”They said Eric Baily was Baresi & Nesta all in one. Isacc Success turned him into a dark coloured Abbey Gerorge”.

”Lmaoo Isacc Success had a nice meal and came of the pitch to step it down with Baileys”

”Isacc Success just succeeded in sending Bailly
back to Africa what a game”

”Isacc Success showed Bailly that Nigeria is still
the giant of Africa.”

”See what Isacc Success did to Bailly. Isn’t that
the best PL CB? Oh God!

AF Nigeria Belgium
Every game a 'World Cup final' for Roeselare says Saviour

Nigeria forward Godwin Saviour has revealed KSV Roeselare are taking each game as a “World Cup final” because they wish to dazzle the Belgian second division.

Saviour has led Roeselare to two straight wins and he said the Brussels club wish to do more because they demand 100 per cent of themselves.

“We approach every game like a World Cup,” he said.

“We will give 100 percent in training and also in the match. We have the mindset of victorious group.

“Our mentality is to take every game as they come, we always want to win. The motivation is there. We want to give 100 percent.”

On Sunday, Roeselare recorded a deserved 2-1 home win over Cercle Brugge with Saviour notching an 86thminute winner.

“The win was a big boost to the team. We have trained very hard and it showed in the game,” said the former Flying Eagles star.

“Every week I want to do more and the team want to do more to see how far we go in the league.
“In the first half, I got three chances and in one of those, I hit bar. I was really disappointed, but I didn’t give up, I kept working and told myself I will score and in the end I scored the winning goal.”

Roeselare are now fifth on the table with eight points from six matches.

On Saturday, they welcome second-placed Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, who have nine points.

AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Zambia
Zeddy Sailet: Zambia can beat Nigeria

by Phumzile Ngcatshe

As the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers get underway next month, former Zambian striker Zeddy Saileti insists Chipolopolo can beat Nigeria.

The Post of Zambia website quotes the striker as claiming that the Super Eagles are beatable, despite saying they are a big name in continental football.

Zambia are chasing their maiden appearance in the World Cup and are set to welcome Nigeria on October 9 as they kick start their qualifiers en route to Russia.

Saileti was in the team that lost 2-1 to the Super Eagles during the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations final in Tunisia.

“I think that Nigeria is a big team, it’s a big name in African football but they are beatable, there is no need to fear them,” said Saileti.

“We have failed to qualify to the Africa Cup and they have also failed, they may have the players in Europe but the truth is, they have not been doing well in recent years.

“But we equally haven’t done so well, though I am made to believe that it’s us who want it the most because we have never been to the World Cup.

“Now we have a new technical bench which means we just have to prepare very well, work very hard and if we work hard, we can win.

“You only lose or win on the pitch, so I can only encourage the players to put in everything, prepare well and we can surely make it, there is always the first time.”

The Football Association of Zambia announced last week that new assistant coach, Wedson Nyirenda will be the caretaker coach.

However, FAZ are yet to appoint a new coach and the former Ferroviario de Beira coach will be in the hot seat against Nigeria.

Wat i like most about watford is the togetherness, it seemed like they got better after Ighalo missed his goal, some other teams would have broken down but they basically bailed out Ighalo because that could have been a career ending moment. Isaac Success did not supprise me because that was basically granada's whole offence last year, once the ball hit his chest i said game over, either he gets fouled or he create's a chance.

Efe, Oduamadi, Akpeyi, Lawal In List Of Super Eagles Players With Little Or No Chance Of Playing Under Gernot Rohr

As new Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr settles down to the task of qualifying Nigeria for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Owngoalnigeria.com takes a look at some players who have played for the senior national team of Nigeria, at various intervals but presently stands no chance of representing the country during the World Cup 2018 qualifying series.

Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United)
The Chippa United shot stopper was anointed by former Super Eagles goalkepper Vincent Enyeama as his successor but the emergence of Carl Ikeme has put a hold to his international hopes.

Rohr is now focused on three goalkeepers Carl Ikeme, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Emmanuel Daniel and from leaks gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com, the only goalkepper he wants back is erstwhile number one Vincent Enyeama.

Efe Ambrose (Celtic)
He has survived four different Super Eagles coaches but unless his poor form and lack of games at Celtic change for the good, his national team career is as good as over after four years.

Raheem Lawal (Osmanlispor)
A bit harsh to suggest he has no future with the Super Eagles but from the plethora of options available in his preferred role. He stands no chance of earning a recall to the team he represented during the ill fated 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers and recently in a friendly game against Luxembourg.

Aaron Samuel ( Guangzhou R&F)
His case wasn’t helped by a serious knee injury that rocked his proposed deal with Russian giants CSKA Moscow. Came to prominence during the 2015 AFCON qualifiers and was given a look in during the recent AFCON 2017 double header against Egypt but didn’t make the match day squad for both games.

He presently stands no chance of playing under Rohr.

Slyvester Igbonu (UFA)
A regular in the team under Sunday Oliseh. The Russia based forward days with the Super Eagles were over from the day Oliseh was sacked as it appears only the coach has trust in his abilities. His chances under the German coach is not anyway close to bright.

Azubuike Okechukwu (Yeni Malatyaspor)
Won himself lots of admirers during Nigeria Under-23 campaign at the Olympics in Rio which Nigeria won bronze.

However despite having one cap for Nigeria, for now the new Super Eagles manager has options ahead of him and his case is made worst by the fact that he plays in the Turkish second division.

Joel Obi (Torino)
Forever on the fringes of the Super Eagles. Usually close to a breakthrough but never close enough to making a mark no thanks to injury. Presently not doing bad at Italian side Torino but has no chance of playing for Nigeria anytime soon with Rohr at the helm as coach.

Azubuike Egwuekwe (KuPS)
Late coach Stephen Keshi favourite defender. The AFCON 2013 nations cup winner is currently one of the best centre defenders in Finland but still no where close to what Rohr wants in his centre back. His days with the Nigeria national team is good as over under the German.

Paul Onobi (KuPS)
Sunday Oliseh’s trusted midfielder who once kept Chelsea ace Mikel Obi out of the team during the tenure of Oliseh as coach of the Super Eagles. A poor CHAN display, a not too impressive move to Finland coupled with better options ahead of him, should make him focus more on his club career for now.

Nnamdi Oduamadi (HJK)
Not setting the world on fire in Finland as expected. The AC Milan loanee is no doubt heavily talented but an unstable club career ruined his chances with the Super Eagles. He recently lost his spot as a starter for HJK. A sign of the little progress he has made which could further keep him out of the team.

France Based Goalkepper Ligali In Super Eagles 11 Playing For Other Countries

As Nigeria continue her drive to lure players with dual nationality to pledge their allegiance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Owngoalnigeria.com takes a look at 11 talented players who could have been playing for the Nigeria senior national team but are now representing other countries.
Jonathan Ligali (Montpellier)
One area where Nigeria is well protected is in the area of goalkeppers. However Jonathan Ligali who keeps goal for French Ligue 1 side Montpellier is one who would have been another option for the Super Eagles.
Ligali was at a point in time under consideration by former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh but the move didn’t materialise and the 25 year old who has already represented France at youth level will be hoping to make the step up to the senior team in the future.
Ola Aina (Chelsea)
The teen full back who is highly respected and regarded at Premiership club Chelsea is a full fledge England youth international. Although he could still play for Nigeria in the future. It appears he is for now focused on playing for England at senior level
David Alaba (Bayern Munich)
A big miss to Nigeria but one who still relates with his Nigerian roots, as seen in his wrapping his body in the flag of Nigeria after winning the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich.
He ranks high among the players who got away from the grasp of Nigeria. He currently captains the senior national team of Austria and he is widely regarded as one of the best left full back in the world.
Dennis Aogo ( Schalke 04)
The 29 year old left footed defender cum midfielder was initially keen on switching allegiance to Nigeria but FIFA rules on nationality switch stopped him. By the time the limitations that hindered him were removed he opt to represent Germany and turned down Nigeria thrice.
His decision to play for the country where he was given birth to paid off as he made the Germany team to the 2010 World Cup.

Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)

Why did Siasia take Akpeyi to the Olympics? A younger keeper like Alampasu would have benefitted from the experience.

Akpeyi days in the Eagles is all but over, unless we get another local coach again.

First of all, we need to find out if what is written here emanated from Rorh or na de author opinion.

As we can see, it is glaring that this author mischievously wrote this em em..... to show his biased mind towards some players here.

I agree that Efe is warning the bench, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Paul Inobi are in obscure league, Igbonu has many to contend with in the wing, Azubuike Okechukwu is in a second division of Turkey, Aaron Samuel is in chinko land and Daniel Akpeyi do himself away from the team.

But why em con take style style put Raheem Lawal for list? He said he has no future with the National team because of many options available in the National team and he stands no chance. Chisos! shocked

His he for real? Seriously, who are those plethora of options ba?

Unfortunately, he refused to mention one but decided to style style pull him down.

Raheem Lawal is a box to box midfielder, AM, DM and CM, so who do we have in the mold of Raheem Lawal dat e doesn't stand a chance?

I no sa dat Joel Obi name na decoy. He no mean am. Na joke em dey joke

That list is not far from the truth. I can even add some more names sef. We don see many of those guys finish. We have to move on and try other players.

I can only sigle-out Azubuike for the fact that he is up and coming. He may be out for now but not for long.

When last did you see Raheem Lawal finish? Single out Azubuike Okechukwu who is struggling to play in a Turkish second division over Raheem Lawal who plays in Turkey first division? Seriously?

I must confess only two box to box or defensive midfielder have impressed me so much playing for Nigeria. Raheem Lawal & Azubuike Okechukwu. For their tenacity, skill & football sense. Its obvious he has issue with someone in the federation or some journalists. They always slain him. And never judged for football reasons.

PS:
I hope one day our journalists will not say Adeoti- Caen, babatounde, imoru and other beninoise footballers like jonathan ligali are also Nigerians to be called.

Raheem Lawal is quite good but there are better options than Azubuike for now.

see, I am indiffent about whether Raheem Lawal is invited or not. You can go all the way to dig up statistics or reasons why he should be included. That publication is just the author's opinion

I had to single out Azubuike bc he is the youngest on that list and just starting a career. He is just 19yrs old.

It is just like you including Taiwo Awoniyi, and Kelechi Nwakali on that list bc dey play for second division teams.

Remember I said "he may be out for now but not for long".

Onazi, Ndidi, Mikel are better than Azubuike.

Raheem Lawal can be invited.

How will the starting line up below fare against Zambia and Algeria?

-----------------------Ikeme---------------------------

---Shehu------Ekong----Omeruo------Oshaniwa---

----------------R.Lawal--Mikel-------------------

---Victor Moses----Iheanacho-------Iwobi--------

--------------------Ighalo--------------------

Note that Mikel would be a deep-lying playmaker in this system in the mould of Albertini or Xabi Alonso.

This argument has gone stale but I don't think anyone is playing Iheanacho in defence.
Hes playing right up the pitch for the super eagles.

A look at the goal and assist he got in the last game. One will notice he started the move right inside his own half, before sprinting to tap it in.

Iheanacho can never be a standing 9 like Van nisteroy or Inzaghi.
He was never trained to play that way. Even if Rohr play him as a top 9,he will still drift in the midfield and aid in the build up.

After all, he's an attacking midfielder being converted to a striker of recent.

There is no one here who thinks or expects Iheanacho to play like Inzaghi and Nistelrooy.

That is like saying because Aguero does not play like Inzaghi and Nistelrooy, he should not play as a striker.

Pls don't stop laughing.
Anyways, I just listed 15 players which I think r our best for now, Musa Muhamed was the only exclusion from my list ,it was a mistake,so Musa takes the place of Shehu in my list. Musa Muhamed just happens to skip my mind.
No formation, I did not adapt any formations, the coach will sort it out. The list above is just my best players on each positions, nothing else.

And u think u knows football, that an attacking midfielder cannot play the 10 role, and Iwobi cannot play as a number 10? U r wrong.
And Iheanacho cannot lead our attack, watch out 4 our next match.
U believe Ighalo and Ideye is the only lone strikers we have, haw far have they fared?
Of course If Enyeama agrees to come back,he is undisputed.

a perfect example of a number 10 is Rakitix, so after watching Iwobi's games you think he can do what Rakitic does? I am sorry I was laughing but no, Iwobi can't, an attacking midfielder is.not a 10, Xavier was a 10, Iniesta tried to replace him and it didn't work although he is a great attacking midfielder so Iwobi can't do that. I said he cannot lead the line ALONE, obviously if someone is bringing the ball to him and making himself available then of course he can do it with someone

The number 8 role, is a Support Striking Role. It is different from a ten role. Also, the ten role is not a CMF role but an attack midfield role.

I disagree with you and agree with Napoleon55. Iwobi can play the ten role. He played there against Egypt in Alexandria.

Iheanacho played as a lone striker also. He was not paired with De Bruyne. De Bruyne made his moves from the midfield to attack.

Iheanacho played as a lone striker many times last season and he was the lone striker against Manchester United in the derby.

a number 10 is the main tempo. more like Xavi so if you ask me Xavi was more of a cmf than an amf so yes, a number 10 is more of a cmf.

you can try to play football without a 10 which was what we did in Egypt and we failed, so Iwobi was supposed to play as a 10 but that's just not his.natural wing so he drifted into an attacking midfielder predominantly and we lost control.

Iheanacho in that game did not spend up to ten seconds alone with the opposing defenders, Dr bruyne was always open for a pass relieving much pressure off him and giving him time to.drift and either play a through pass or create a scoring opportunity for himself so if we decide to push him up and leave him there like Chelsea used to do to Drogba then we have a problem because he can't handle it. do you now understand my point?

bro, I'll have to disagree with you on 2 counts

1 Iwobi can play as a 10, in fact he's supposed to be Mikel's replacement at his retirement...he's the most stable 10 we can come up with for now. He's great at penetrating passes

2 Kelechi can play as a lone striker, albeit not as effective as the normal lone striker, but he'll certainly do better than Ighalo and Ideye, we've tried with them, it doesn't work. At least Kelechi can track back for the ball if the service is poor, but Ighalo just stands around and waits for it

he is supposed to be Mikel's replacement because Mikel has always played as an attacking midfielder for us anyways. the ability to create defence splitting passes does not equate to a great number 10.

I love your second point, of course he would be better than both but why not go for the best? put someone up there and we will be guaranteed at least 5 good chances in that game and he must score 3 at least instead of pushing him up where he won't fulfil his best potentials. So he can perform better than them as a line striker but like you said not as well as he would do when paired with someone, so why not just pair him with someone up there?

i haven't seen much of iwobi in the CMF role but if push comes to shove i reckon he could do a decent job in that position. however i agree he looks very effective playing from the left side of midfield.

iheanacho for me works best with a strike partner like an ideye or etebo.

against zambia being an away match i feel we should go conservative. a double pivot of ndidi/onazi or azubuike to shield the defence with mikel playing an advanced attacking role joining the likes of iwobi and victor moses to assist iheanacho in the forward role. mikel, iwobi and victor moses can then rotate from time to time to join iheanacho in our attacking forays.

my preliminary line-up for the zambia match

ikeme

m. mohammed l. balogun t. ekong e.echejiele

onazi w. ndidi

victor moses mikel iwobi

iheanacho

we will have to be extra cautious on the left side of defence because when i watched bits of zambia's home match against kenya in the AFCON qualifiers i noticed they usually attacked down the left channel. they don't concede much so we will have to be patient to break them down. plus if we see a chance to put them to the sword we should do it because those zambians never give up they will keep coming even if we are a goal ahead.

You are the boss, you have the perfect formation in mind, although Mikel in that position.....don't you think Etebo could be better? I mean Etebo paired with Sadiq yet he scored goals and Sadiq is well Sadiq, so with Nacho more goals will be guaranteed. so I might be thinking about bringing in Etebo and taking Mikel back the the dmf role or he can just be the actual10, that's the borderline between the dmf and the amf. apart from that your formation is great considering the resources we have
