***Suicide Bombing Becoming Rare

By Ebitonye Akpodigha

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured foreign investors of safety of their lives, properties and investments in the country, noting that terrorism was now being defeated by his government.

Mr Buhari gave this assurance on Monday while speaking with his South African counterpart, Mr Jacob Zuma in New York, on the sidelines of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the bilateral meeting between the two African leaders, Mr Buhari pointed out that advances being made against Boko Haram insurgents go beyond degradation through just force of arms, explaining that de-radicalization process was also going on.

He remarked that “we are achieving some measure of success. Even suicide bombing is becoming rare, as the local people are themselves rejecting indoctrination by the insurgents.”

The President assured existing and potential investors in Nigeria of adequate protection of their lives, investments and property, as the security situation in Nigeria is now very much better and conducive.

Mr Buhari said Nigeria was working hard to diversify the economy and expressed willingness to collaborate with South African businessmen especially in the areas of mining and agriculture, for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

In his remarks, President Jacob Zuma of South Africa recollected his visit to Nigeria earlier this year which he described as "very successful.” He added that he was interested in the promotion of economic and trade partnerships between the two countries.

So you'd rather he tell the world and potential investors that Nigeria isn't safe so they shouldn't come and do business here?

He can tell them whatever he likes. They know the truth, they will only come when conditions are favorable to them. Those conditions he can be created through right policies.

You don't have to work so hard to promote or market this country to investors because, this nation has a huge market capacity. Therefore, the economy direction and fiscal policy of the government speaks for itself.

Electricity has not improved, except on paper. Not a better road network, nothing, and you said what?

I'll just walk away and refuse the temptation to insult the president.

Security is not the only ingredient for a conducive business environment. The majority of Nigerians are now poorer and have lost their purchasing power so regardless of what your selling very few have the money to buy
