Rofemiguwa taking lots of water, uda pepper soup, moringa tea or capsule and fenugreek helps. When you are at home feed her more frequently and pump more often so you can then freeze. |

mitchyy: It is all types of books. I believe most emphasize on Nigerian and African books but maybe some bring other books. It's a good place to get books you may not think are sold here. It's an artsy sort of event So they have panels and talks and sometimes music. |

Rofemiguwa, take beer. WHAT?!! IT WORKS!!! even abroad it has some merit. It's the barley and hops that apparently help. Just dont breastfeed until 2 hours later and dump any you pump during that time. Or our baby will start singing and quoting Shakespeare and The Nigerian Constitution. I honestly don't know what else to take, just don't overeat. Because you will struggle to get that weight off. But yeah, hit the Guinness baby! Also, fennel and fenugreek. They are Indian spices. So if you can go to Indian Bazaar at Ilupeju, you should get them there. Also if you go on Friday's, a man sells assorted vegetables like Watercress, Leeks, Spinach and more. His name is Sulaimon. 1 Like |

Haduwa, that requires a doctor. I don't think we are qualified to prescribe Antimalaria drugs. |

Rhukie, I get my spices from Indian Bazaar and SPAR. Mostly Indian and Chinese sauces and spices. That eliminates the need for cooking with Maggi or MSG (the main source of spice in Indomie which worries medical people). Most are safe for babies, but always check beforehand. Baby E tonight is refusing her own food for my meal: Coconut Curry Shrimp. I'm not giving her the shrimp but just rice and the sauce. All those funky veggies you see in recipes are sold by a man there on Friday's rather than buying Broccoli for N1800 per head from Shoprite or SPAR. We haven't used Maggi this year so far and Baby E has actually never eaten Indomie (she tasted a strand because Himself gave her. He's VERY bad with Nutrition ). But don't be like me, baby is eating more veggies and fruits, but not getting a lot of carbs so she's not fat. I'm loading her with swallow and spaghetti to plump her up. Try this: boil rice and sweet potato together in a pot. Grate a tiny bit of ginger, a pinch of salt and some curry and add Turmeric to it with Spring Onions. Mash the potatoes when everything is cooked. I also add a bit of meat stock to boil the rice and potato. My mum told me bone and meat stock is nice for babies. It's different ans a healthy meal for even you. You can shred boiled meat to the meal or chicken. It's a variant of an Indian dish for babies. 3 Likes 10 Shares |

Onegai:I'm in Lagos, Yaba to be precise. She was delivered at Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Yaba through CS after mother was induced at exactly 40 weeks, fetal stress was discovered at 3cm dilation so there was emergency cs, baby was even placed under observation for 12 hours and was given oxygen for that period because she appeared blue at birth. Billirubrin level is 12.47,heard normal level is 10,test was done at 4 days. Well, I'll check the Lagos state mother and child care hospital just opened in Festac for possible treatment because Festac is where I will be for two weeks or more. I appreciate your response 1 Like |

mitchyy: Thanks for the advice, I'm trying to take things easy as the stress has not been easy. I will check the mother and care center in Festac tomorrow. My mother in law is saying we use herbs but my baby feels weak so I'm going strictly medical for proper treatment. Thanks for your time |

pheesayor: I know 2 private Mother abd Child hospitals in Festac but I don't know if they handle this. But check Emel hospital on 21rd, they have consultant paeditricians there and I don't think they are too expensive. If your wife can stay in Yaba, can they refer her to LUTH? I've never been to thr Mother and Child centre in Festac so I can't say much (I heard when doctors were interested in the place). Please keep us updated, I'm sure someone has contacts in Festac. Stay strong and prayers to your LO and wife. 1 Like |

Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Onegai(f): 10:05am On Sep 21, 2016 |

Not using Maggi will force you to learn how to taste food better. Like, my MiL says my soups taste like crayfish and onions (which she likes). You'll learn how to combine ingredients and understand what it does and be able to adapt recipes from other countries. You will understand how Garlic and Ginger taste and work (like Ginger and White pepper play up the taste of Red pepper and make food more spicy). I make Quaker oats with Pear or Apple, honey, milk, Nutmeg or Cinnamon for Baby E and myself. Most of the spices run from N400 to N700 per cup or pack and Chinese sauces are like N1600 per big bottle and N800 for small bottles of Oyster sauce. Ibadan will have a supermarket to get them, but you'll have to ask an Indian or Chinese person. Or if a mum here can be nice and help you with getting them from Ilupeju or SPAR and sending them to you in Ibadan via road transporters (though I'm a bit worried about some sauces in glass bottle but bubble wrap will secure them). Look for Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Garam Masala, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Oyster Sauce, Dark soy Sauce, sweet chili Sauce, fish Sauce, sweet and sour sauce. You can buy cans of Coconut milk or make it yourself (it is hard work, I remember that from childhood). Fresh Parsley and Basil are nice and Igbo ladies sell Basil as Nchanwu in the market. There are shops that sell fresh herbs too (Shoprite does and some places in VI) but you can grow them if you have seeds (plus you're in Ibadan you have space to grow stuff). Nigerian food can be quite repetitive after a while so this helps. 1 Like 6 Shares |
