Instead of pushing for alignment of the salaries of public servants and political jobbers with the N18,000 minimum wage they are making useless noise about increasing minimum wage in ISOLATION! www.nairaland.com/attachments/2525077_nationalassebly_jpeg71d66f931a1a7ec6df0b899a793ef6b6 7 Likes 2 Shares |

He said that the speculation that talk on minimum wage had collapsed was misleading, adding that the talk had not even started. Does this man realize that someone salary is the same with one bag of rice? And negotiating has not even started to address this. Rip to NLC 3 Likes |

This is an auto summary: The Nigerian government has been avoiding talks with the NLC (Nigerian Labour Congress) over the proposal of a new minimum wage. The NLC president (name purposely avoided) said that the federal government did not even come to discussions with the Congress. It is interesting to note however that with the current economic climate in Nigeria, it will be quite absurd for any government to take on new wage responsibilities. The Nigerian populace has entered a "siddon look" posture with regards to any moves made by the NLC as over 70% of the masses have lost confidence in the NLC |

The country is in recession. This is no good time to talk minimum wage. It would not make any sense if NLC succeeds in talking the government into increasing the minimum wage, and at the end of the month and for months government owes salary and blame their inability to pay on lack of funds. NLC should think outside the box and lay low for now. We are all in this recession. 2 Likes 1 Share |
