I dont think they came to sell; just display.
Display = Marketing
So definitely they're hoping to raise interest in their product.

Denel Dynamics unveils Cheetah C-RAM system

"Denel Dynamics has unveiled a system it is developing to protect deployed forces against rocket, artillery and mortar attacks.

The Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) system combines the Rheinmetall Skyshield protection system and Denel's Cheetah missile system, which is currently under development."

If things go right over the next few years this system will be a game changer. I know we've been told to TRY and look neat & tidy grin, as various delegations will be coming to campus to get more info on the system. But most informal at the moment.

Good question. Also pity the DCD JV with Mekahog didn't pan out; the 2 would've been pursuing these opportunities together.

If both companies are smart enough, it won't die. Remember there was a Joint Nigeria-South Africa conference on defence. With more than 30 South-African companies participating. Both companies could leverage on the existing relationship they have with the Police, while they build on the infrastructure they have on the ground.

Nigeria sales means opening markets to the west and central Africa region.

The only problem i see is with politics. Those behind Mekahog are major PDP members.

Another one of Denel's projects that the public forget about. Marlin family of missiles....80-100km range.

Very impressed by the Helicopter Maintenance facility, it does seem very apparent with all the logistics that the NAF is gearing up to receive some platforms.

Wish a naval version(CIWS) of the missile to be developed in the future to replace the problematic Dual purpose guns.

Looks like the defence force isn't satisfied with the performance of the 35mm guns in the C-RAM role. Rheinmetall demonstrated their revolver guns to the defence force prior to the upgrade.

Now that the C-RAM missile looks like to be going ahead. Wonder what will happen to the Stealth Ingwe.

Would have gave SA an opportunity to maintain skills not taught any where but I doubt the lads with the skills(stealth tech) are still around.

Only if beauty hypnotized opponents.

Though I wish for it to never have to fire it's weapon in anger, it has to justify if it indeed deserves it's name (Ratel).

Like it's animal namesake it has some thick skin. Promises not to mind bites in the African Bush.

Badger don't care.

We're not like the Americans....no budget to have dedicated skills for each project. Usually a mix and match. If a specific skill is lacking in-house, can always give CSIR (for example) a call. Or perhaps a university or 2.

Nigerian Air Force pilot training on an MI-17 in the Czech republic.

#fun fact: The Nigerian Air Force currently has 500 pilots on training in Nigeria and across the world. This figure includes both Drone pilots.

With the number of CAS assets the Nigerian Air Force is due to receive, i just have this feeling we won't get more than 18 units of JF-17 (one Squadroun), which is practical. Only Chad with 3 units of old model MIG-29s poses any sort of a threat. This would be bad, for an enthusiast! I hope we get atleast 24 units.

As expected, the JF-17s are going to be configured for a strike role, with a secondary Air defence role.
