IN 2012, when former Nigerian Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala signified her intention to run for the World Bank presidency, there was a quake – she was endorsed by a majority of the emerging economies. http://www.socialtimesng.com/2016/09/why-united-states-must-support-okonjo-iweala-for-world-bank-presidency-by-bade-adebolu/ 61 Likes 8 Shares

Dream on. President of World Bank will always come from US, while IMF presidency will be from Europe. This arrangement is not going to change. 28 Likes 1 Share |

Manage waiting? Forget the fact that she is a Nigerian, when as a common minister she couldn't do proper home economics, u think u just get a top job like that without proper background checks? For me I think she is pretty much done handling big post, she can present papers and serve as a resource person at events... World Bank President... Thousands with unquestionable integrity are ahead of her,,, is jobs are given with respect to character first nt papers,... 46 Likes 3 Shares |

Repeat her recent performance in Nigeria? Why do you think the white man always go forward and we seem to stay stationary? They simply go with leaders hwose ideas are progressive. Okonja running the economy to the edge of a cliff and simply washing her hands off is unacceptable even I saw it all coming and I will say it won't get better this is the new normal. 15 Likes 1 Share |

If we support Ngozi Iweala will she tell us how she spent the recovered Abacha loot and the location of the '174 functional health centers' she claimed part of the loot was spent on in a letter to the Swiss Ambassador? 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Nigeria and her people are weird. Most of these people who supported Adesina to become African Development Bank President not minding that he served under GEJ administration will frown at Dr Ngozi Iweala becoming World Bank President just because of bigotry. Her only crime is that she is Igbo. The same reason why Buhari has not seen the necessity in settling Oby Ezekwesili for her political patronage. 154 Likes 19 Shares |

MadamExcellency: Abeg, Abeg, Abeg!!! Why are you people like this, we are talking about competence and you are bringing tribe. How all you lot always manage to bring in tribalism into serious issues amaze me. Now to the issue, Looking back at her past records, she can never and will never even be considered for such position! The post of a World bank President is not by academic qualifications or by how many seminars or meetings you attend with world leaders. And never you compare Adesina to Okonjo, it's insulting pls. 35 Likes 7 Shares |

You will notice that it is people from a particular region that will oppose her candidacy with different reasons. But all of us as a nation stood behind Adeshina and also celebrated his victory when it happened. 68 Likes 5 Shares |

She almost got it before. And she was the most qualified too atleast according to every global media agency that matters like CNN, BBC and co. Unfortunately, America was not sure of her loyalty to American interests and so had to settle for someone ''less'' with real proven ties to America. It is all global politics, and Nigeria has no real global leverage which she can build on. Anyway she can try again. I am sure she will get it this time with bill gates and co on her side oiling the American leverage for her. 28 Likes 3 Shares |

CecyAdrian: Common get out from my mention and never quote my comments with this elementary mentality of yours. Dr Iweala has worked in the same office and rose to the highest professional position, the Managing Director of World Bank not by appointment rather by merit and competence and yet to you she is not qualified. So na URP she study sef in her first degree? Why she de feel herself too much for economic related issues? Is it because she worked at the world bank? How's that a certificate for economic management? Well , you're as good as your last job. She did woefully here the last time she held a post and, her actions and inactions created a leeway for "recession" . So I'd say she doesn't deserve the post of world bank head, except if that's the reward for bringing us to our knees economically on the order of her western gods who benefit from our downfall or plunging currency . 11 Likes 1 Share |
