But I know for sure that they always have 6 Cf-5s at Sir Seretse Khama Intl.aiport on standby just in case shxt hits that fan anywhere...In regards to the J-10 my cousin is among the Namibian pilots traning in China on the platform and for now everything is very hush...They will be back by the end of this year so I'm expecting the first order soon...as we are getting rid of our F-7's(Remind you we lost three last year) and Swaziland is interested in purchasing them...I'll try to get him to spill more info grin

Swaziland buying jets for what now.... They hardly have a functional helicopter.

That's decent. 8 Gripen C/D models to replace 12 CF-5s. The Gripen are the best platform for them, however my problem with the Gripen is it's price, no offence to the South-Africans, but the Gripen C/D does not offer the capabilities required of a $65 million a pop aircraft. I don't see the value for money. If the Botswanans are going for off-the shelf Gripens, from Swedish surplus stock, that would be great.

So definitely Namibia would get the J-10. That's good to read. Yeah, the 3 units of F-7 you lost to the hangar crash, anyway, the time for the F-7 is across the board is coming to an end. Virtually all Nations are now replacing their 3 GEN fighters.

LOL Henry24, what a question. I don't think he's in the weapons acquisition committee. We'll all know when it goes on the interwebs.

No bro, that's not the point. The point is by virtue of Gottfried21 being Namibian, a military personnel and a rebel (description totally he's, after he shared the A-10 photos from the American air base), he would be privy to snippets, and body language of Namibian Air Force leadership. Snippets are not entirely true, they just provide a mental picture.

For example i can guess what the Nigerian military would get, also in numbers based on body language of senior leadership, past acquisition modes and tiny information clues they leave along the way.

Hell we'd have a nice huge test range!

Namibia has land claims on South Africa too.

Anyway History time: One Swazi King in the past did capture huge areas almost the size of one province in what is today South African territory.

Reason if minerals(oil) are found in within our vast ocean boarders I bet the French will have claims.

Awesome pictures. Wish your navy gets atleast three OPVs.

Saab's contract supporting our Gripen end this year. A new contract is being negotiated. Similar to the recently released Apple iOS10 aircrafts get software updates. Enabling new or allowing new functions. Saab's latest updated is being implemented on the Swedish fleet, a new support contract means SA Gripens will get the upgrade enabling usaged of the Meteor BVRAAM.

Chinese Poly Technologies Partners With Denel To Build Naval Vessels For South Africa

Denel and Poly Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to join forces in SA’s maritime rejuvenation.
Poly Technologies aims to take a stake in the Simons Town shipyard and join Denel in constructing three naval vessels. The strategic alliance was signed on 16 September by Denel’s acting Group CEO Zwelakhe Ntshepe and the Vice President of Poly Technologies Inc, Liu Jianmin at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) exhibition at Air Force Base Waterkloof.
Poly Technologies is likely to make an investment in the recapitalization of the Simons Town dockyard as part of its management takeover by Denel Integrated Systems and Maritime (Denel ISM). Denel officials declined to give the figure of the Chinese investment and a press statement from Denel only said that the two state owned companies would combine to collaborate in the rejuvenation and growth of the local maritime sector. More immediately, the two companies will collaborate in the construction of three naval vessels for the SA Navy.
Poly Technologies is involved in almost every defence sector including dockyard construction, ship building, tank and armoured vehicle manufacturing, and fighter aircraft production.
Denel did say that it would build three vessels for the South African navy with Poly Technologies in either Simons Town or Durban. This will presumably be if Poly Technologies wins the SA Navy’s Projects Biro and Hotel for hydrographic, inshore and offshore patrol vessels.
The designs Poly Technologies is offering include a Hydrographic Survey Vessel (HSV43 4300T), which will have an overall length of 100.9 m and a displacement of 4 300 tons.

Mmmh, as much as the Gripen is not worth the cost to some BUT you get what you pay for with the Chinese.... I won't be surprised to hear about multi systems failure. If I want to go cheap, I'll rather buy the Russian Yak-130 or the US made Textron Scorpion since the BDF are good US buddies.

Just stay away from Chinese things.

In the scale and technology of ship building industry.China is among top 3 if not top 1 on earth.barely the scale is top1 alreay, accounts for more than 50% of the world 's totall..Even US and UK buy some subsystem or facility&equipments from China, though they may have put embargo on China.

While further... whats the point in assembling something from China? Welding LEGO together does not build up skills.

This whole thing stinks, I used to see Biro as an exciting oppertunity, now I am waiting for the announcement with dread
