Barely one week after the official commissioning of the newly constructed Federal Low Cost Bye-Pass in Itokin axis of Ikorodu North LCDA, Ikorodu by the Lagos State Government, the road is currently breaking apart. The road was commissioned as part of the ongoing 114 Roads project across the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.

The road which was constructed by DHV Nigeria Limited was commissioned last Wednesday, September 21, 2016. The road is presently nothing to write home about as parts of it is filled with pot holes while some parts is wearing off.

What is however shocking to residents of the area is the current state of the road that was rated as 90% perfect by the Sole Administrator of the Ikorodu North LCDA, Alhaja Shukurat Okeowo.

While some residents are currently looking for avenues to ensure the road is put back in good shape, some others have continued to condemn the shoddy job done by the construction company.

Government Reaction

In a swift response to the negative comments that have trailed the state of the newly commissioned road, the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade who represents Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the assembly has reacted to the embarrassing .... read more here http://insidemainland.com/2016/09/27/newly-commissioned-road-ikorodu-breaks-apart-government-reacts/

Lagos is a very depressing city. The pig smell, the traffic lights, the horrible odour. The roads are death traps. Any body who says eko ni baje dosen't know what spoil really means. Lagos stinks like a decomposing rat in the bedroom. Anyone who quotes me negatively is an idiot

The ridiculous part is the huge sums of money lagos state government budgeted into construction of one meter of a road that gulp billions of naira.Yet the road is not done with quality materials.

Local contractors collect money and deliver poor jobs. When foreign contractors are given jobs they cry foul!

you people always look for excuse to give for your incompetency.Tell me how migration will affect a road that was commissioned within one week?Had it been it was Julius Berger that was given that contract they would do a good job that will last for ever. Our local contractors always cut corners.Well most of the road constructions are awarded to Tinubu.Nothing good ever comes out from that godfather.

This is why we have to hold the contractors responsible for doing a shoddy job. Prosecuting them wont when necessary be a bad idea.

The contractor responsible for this job should be prosecuted immediately... For how long shall the black man continue like this?.. Same thing happened in River's state during Amaechi's first tenure and he regretted the day he opted to use local contractorsquacks. So much for local content.
