Good day, Please I want to ask you a question as regards my poultry farm and I will be happy if you reply as soon as possible.

My poultry farm comprises layers though on a small scale will clock the 16th week in few days time which is the point of lay. What I have discovered is that the birds are not showing signs of readiness to start laying eggs, what I mean is that their vulva is not yet red which is one signs of laying eggs.
Can it be the formula of the feed?
Can I get a formula from you? Thanks in anticipation!

I followed all d vaccination, they are black and I use deep litter system. About the feeding someone said maybe I was overfeedind and they were fat, but I slaughter one to find out if they had fat but none. Is there any vaccination that I can give or just dispose them

@Rubati,
I think something is fundamentally wrong. even at deep litter, they should be droping at 19 week.

please, how many are your birds, how do you feed them and 1.5kg at 28Wks means under feeding.

kindly give us more detail to enable us learn and advise you properly.

regards.

I got 90% output from my birds yesterday, something I never thought possible on deep litter. My birds completed their 26th week run yesterday. No light stimulation, just the 12hours natural lightning. All I maintained is good and hygienic environment. I wash their drinkers every morning. This is my first time in this business, maybe I was just lucky cause I have no experience at all and to God be the glory I don't lose just one.... but I keep reading books about poultry and applying the little knowledge derived thereafter.

How many are your birds? Where do you source them from? Which farm and what breed? Picture of them on deep litter, lemme know how I will construct mine. Though planning to use cage when they are 17 weeks?

Lastly, at what week do they start laying?

I'm in a Ado-ekiti there is well know farmer here call METROVET I source my birds through them, I'm also using their feed from day 1. But on the carton I could observe nastech was written, so I'm sure the got them from nastech.. The birds are Isa-brown. They started laying at 18th week and 6days exactly, they reach 50% output at the end of 21st and 80% at their 24th week.

Just 300 birds as I was advise to start little since I had no experience, going for more 500.

Grind chalk and bitter kola together smoothly.
Then dust them around your farm.
or

grind bitter kola smoothly and mix with water inside sprayer and spray round your pen.

Ensure u use white bulbs( those energy saving), i read that its the best in poultry management and it is even most power efficient,Light Simulation should be averagely 16 hours( 4 HOURS BULB FROM 6PM TO 10PM) and must be consistently carried out once u start, no distortion or abrupt outage should happen
