EasternActivist:I was at aguleri otu during the presidential election before the massacre by the kogi baberians. T43 was the rig currently drilling there, and had been stuck for two months at roughly 8,000 feet. The geology in the Niger delta region is far difernt from that of the anambara basin which is clay in nature. That is why I wonder at the folly of hiring a work over rig for full drilling. 4 Likes |

Proudlyngwa: I believe we are all reasonable and can think... Judging your own instinct will you imply that because clay is sitted above the oil you gonna quit exploration which you have laboured with massive resources even if it implies using effective technology to bypass such difficulties? Let me also tell you that clay is a natural resource(source of revenue) as some communities can't boast of that. Also following a well-known wise saying nothing good comes so easy won't that mean that having difficulties in getting pass the clay is a good omen? Lastly I will say that success are near when everything seems not working again. Besides judging by your submission you have no expertise but just an ordinary onlooker. In all this I can bravely say there is hope. 7 Likes |

CliffordOrji:I don't know about the volume, but there is exploration going there, some fields drilled by total and bought over by Orient. The two wells Orient drilled by themselves were abandoned. I don't know if they have resumed drilling there, I doubt as the area is still under contention. 2 Likes |

Proudlyngwa: You are the unreasonable one here... And please where do you get the 8000ft from as something is not adding up. According HowStuffWorks. Over the last six decades, it's only gotten deeper. In 1949, the earliest year with data available, the average depth of oil wells drilled was 3,635 feet. By 2008, the most recent data available, we were drilling an average of 5,964 feet, a slight decrease from the 2007 at 6,064 feet. -howstuffworks.com Because if the 8000ft claim is true literally saying the oil has already been found long time ago. 2 Likes |

Proudlyngwa: My friend stop misinforming the people with your lies. Which area is under contention, Aguleri community or Otuocha which are all in Anambra territory? If you don't know, please ask questions, oil production is going on there right now as I write this piece. Proudlyngwa: But you said that exploration is not going on as a result of contention, so I was wondering which area is in contention, because oil production is being done within Anambra territory right now. Where the bulk of the oil is, is in Anambra territory and it consists of 2 large commercial wells(Anambra River-1 and Anambra River-2). The 3rd one in contention exists on the boundary between Anambra-Kogi-Enugu state, and then again the bulk of the oil at the boundary lies within the Anambra territory. |

AmericanQuarter:If the area is under contention, why then did you show us pictures Of security operatives detailed there to keep the peace. Oil Exploration in the field or the lack thereof should not be the primary concern of Governor Obiano how. What should bother him is the potential conflict and Oil war engendered by unsetteld land dispute Anambra and Kogi state might bring. Governor Obiano, Governor Yahaya Bello, the FG and NBC should iron out this issue once and for all. 1 Like |

CliffordOrji: There is peace in the area right now. The security personnel are there for maintenance of the existing peace. Just like every other area where there is oil installations there is usually security personnel stationed there, it is not peculiar to Anambra oil facilities. The bulk of the oil is in Anambra territory. At least 2 commercial wells(Anambra River-1 & Anambra River-2) are all securely in Anambra territory and that is where Orient is drilling right now. The 3rd well which is in contention lies at the boundary between Anambra-Kogi-Enugu state, with Anambra still having the bulk of it. 6 Likes 1 Share |

EasternActivist: Dude you should have searched instead for the average depth of oil wells in Nigeria. I work in the oil field and and our usual TD (target depth) is between 10k to 15k feet. I don't know the specs of the KCA defrag rig, but I do know that if a work over rig is used for drilling in tough formations, it will be found out. 2 Likes |

Proudlyngwa: Don't be too fast before you look like lost urchin on the street of sambisa.. There is Much difference between oil well and oil discovery... The quote I stated earlier is a world fact about how deep below the earth can oil be discovered and Nigeria cannot be exempted... My stance is this, oil has been discovered since they have bypassed the average benchmark which is about 6,000 feet (which according to your claim they are stucked in 8000ft). T43 was the rig currently drilling there, and had been stuck for two months at roughly 8,000 feet. Now they are digging further to create a reservoir for the oil beneath it which is the oil well you are referring and can go for More than 10k feet below the earth... Is either you are lost in your own confusion or you are poor in understanding what you saw when you visited the rig. I advise you meet the person that lectured you for more clarification. 5 Likes 1 Share |

subnormal: Do not misunderstand me and Please check my second to last post... I never quoted anywhere the depth of an oil well. I only gave the depth under the earth where oil can be found (oil discovery)... Is it not when you discover oil in a location you will go for an oil well? |

So they never got oil but gas? Now see below and tell us how it happened last year and ongoing till now? Proudlyngwa: Anambra State plans to increase the production of crude oil in its wells to 3,000 barrels per day by September. The firm, which was conceived by the Anambra State Government under former governor of the state, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, was inaugurated in August, 2012 by former President Good luck Jonathan. The company said it had concluded arrangements with an indigenous company, Nails & Stanley Limited, to establish a gas plant in Umueje in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state. Managing Director of Orient Petroleum Resources, Mr. Sunny Okoye, said these on Monday after a meeting of the Board of Directors of the company with the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. Okoye added that the company had revved up activities in two new oil wells in its Aguleri oilfields that would shore up the company’s production capacity to 3,000bpd before September this year. He said, “Orient is not only working assiduously in boosting the production capacity of its oil wells, the company is also developing the vast gas resources in the state. “We are dealing with gas development on two fronts. The first one is the gas production we have right now, side by side with oil. We are looking at how to transform it to an income earning venture.” The managing director explained the plan to generate income from the gas resources informed its partnership with Nails & Stanley to produce Compressed Natural Gas that would be used for industrial power as well as powering automobiles and a sundry other activities. Okoye stated, “We are engaging Nails & Stanley for that. They are on track to install their compressor cans soon, and as soon as we are ready to flag their operations off in the state, we are going to develop the ANU Gas Field. “We have a well, which we are going to use to produce sufficient gas for increased power production in Anambra State. That’s the second plan of our gas development plan.” www.punchng.com/news/orient-targets-3000-barrels-per-day-in-anambra/ 4 Likes 1 Share |
