I have a question shaaa

Between computer science and engineering which is better..( I'm going to school soon)

I really wanna be the next bad coder!
But people say computer science don't worth it...

What's your view?
Programming is a personal thing. If you want to be the next bad coder, you have to do more than they are going to teach you in school. My first language was QBasic and after that i learnt Fortran 77 and then C and VB and so on... You must learn as much as you can while you can still assimilate it.

I dont have a degree in computer science but i do have a degree. And am not just good in concept or objective as you called it, i am very sound in writing code too.
In programming you learn the abstract first and then you can go into writing code, if you are not good with concepts, you will only write poor code.

No diss but I genuinely take you as a technical evangelist, you preach code, till you actually share some useful code snippets..it's people like you that receive stack overflow's down-vote hammer of justice. (No diss)

Well most tech evangelist know their onions well.

If you have ever taught anything, you will know that only the very fluent can teach a subject matter.

By the way, i rarely use stackoverflow.

I just go there sometimes to see solutions that people have already solved.

But am not an active community member.

Well i made some contributions to python.

I was amongst the first to start clamoring for the python windowing shell, pythonw.

I also reported a few bugs to php mysql module.

As for communities that am active on,I would say none.

I contribute here and there from time to time.

If no be say some people find my wahala, i spend too much time on NL recently.

Thought it's theoretical programmer cos I was managed to check out an interesting (really funny) thread of yours.

Though you've got this knowledge bank I admire and I admire it whenever you are using it.

Just like electronic engineers who can't design and build a circuit on a breadboard.

I think it's a lack of tools.

Okay? Now isn't that impressive? smiley But still, bug report forums of programming languages usually show bug reported, correspondent Author and date. So if it is not too much to ask big daddy seunthomas, kindly furnish me with the URLs of the Python (Lalasticlala keep off!! angry ) and PHP threads you contributed on. Thanks in anticipation smiley

Don't classify yourself a programmer if;
1: All you know is the intricacies of a programming language.

2: You have never ventured into any other area but UI's.

3: You don't understand what a tree data structure is and how it relates to a computer file system.

4: Efficiency sounds like an old movie

5: You hate books.

6: The only apps you've ever made happen to only be web related calling upon an sql database.(no offense here)

My thoughts

#6.

Do you know what it takes to optimize database queries for a Website that has up to 10 Million active users and more?

Or do you know what it takes to Migrate database from one platform to the other ?

Oga, keep your little experience in your pocket. You know nothing my broda.

The points are for, incase you didn't read, WHO SHOULD BE CALLED A PROGRAMMER. If database administration is what you do, then be content with "Database Administration".

Your experience sure isn't better than mine. MR WHO KNOW U?

This here, You were referring to Web Developers that build apps calling upon an sql database, "Those were your own words".

You were not talking about DB Admins who are only focused on only DB.

My broda, Stop trying to defend the rubbish you wrote and move on.

Well, I guess #6 describes your predicament pretty well. Connecting a form to a database and placing indexes won't get you anywhere.

Be better or be obsolete.

Stop trying to make yourself look intelligent.

So you think a Web dev's job is just to create HTML form and do table indexing? undecided , Some Web devs are even moving to NoSql Database just so they can Scale easily as their user base increases.

My point is, don't condemn what you know little about, Just be a local champ in your area of expertise and don't talk too much. So you won't disgrace yourself outside. #Period.

Na wa o. NoSql database, like you know the difference. Stick with your zero programming experience and your lame idea on tech. All these wannabee joes. Start by reading a Dummies book so you don't get your memory framgmented. Andela needs students.
