Congrats to topfuncakes166 and blessedchick

May your children always bring you joy

Thank God for his faithfulness. Team December, I'm glad we are all doing fine. We all should have entered at least our 26th week now, most of us are already comfortably in the third trimester now. I'm 29 weeks plus now and I'm so excited.

I heard the prices of commodities in the market have skyrocketed. Pls let's try to round up our shopping to avoid running around in the last minute. You know some of our DHs can be funny, before they'll go and buy pink gowns for baby boys as per last minute shopping cheesy
May God provide for us and our DHs.

To our experienced mamas that have already put to bed, how important is it to wash new baby clothes before putting it on them? I asked a couple of elderly nurses here(some are Nigerians) and they gave me a funny look. One mummy told me it's not necessary but I really want to be sure as I'd prefer not to take chances. Is their an adverse effect on baby's skin if we don't wash? Pls we need honest opinions from those who washed and those who didn't. Do we hand wash only or put in the washing machine? Should we wash stuff like socks, mittens, towels, flannels, blankets and caps?

Thanks mamas

thanks ma'm

Birth story...
My EDD was 5th of October according to scan and 12th by LMP.I was scheduled for induction on the 3rd October, as doctor was worried my tummy was measuring smaller than its age, doctor was going to do a virginal sweep on my next appointment which was supposed to be on that Wednesday to help ripen the cervix.
I was kinda praying against the induction as I was looking at doing without epidural(as I was already making a mental list of what to do with that money) but induction I would have jejely taken it and just enjoy a stress free process.
1am Tuesday, I started feeling cramps which I didn't pay much attention to, it lasted through the night, then started increasing intensity in the morning, that's when I knew something was up,i thought of rescheduling my docs appointment for that Tuesday but the pain wasn't something it couldn't deal with so I made up my mind to wait till the next the, kept busy during the day, doing some shopping....fast forward 10PM the contractions were coming stronger I didn't see myself holding it till morning, call the hospital, changed and headed there, when checked was only 3cm,i was so disappointed

PART 2
I was given morphine shots every 20 mins since I didn't want the epidural, but It didn't make much of a difference, was checked again at abt 12am,i was 5cm,contractions kept progressing and by 2:30AM my doctor was around i was 8cm and all was set but I couldn't push,i didn't know how to push, was in so much pain I could barely hear or put together what they were saying , I was begging for CS or anything that could get my baby out, eventually I had to watch myself push out my baby through a mirror placed at the foot of my bed, that made me understand what to do coz I could see the head in there but I wasn't push hard enough to get the head out, with 2 hard pushes and 2 cuts my baby popped out weighing 2.4kg at 3:28am. ..we are doing very well, all Glory and thanks to God

Godmorning Mummies and Daddies. and congrats to al those who have put to birth. Ok, the doctor where I was supposed to start fertility treatment before I realized I was pregnant gave me blood supplement & folic acid and one injection I was asked to take for 6 weeks. I'm not planning to use the place after the injection and I haven't registered for antenatal. So since Friday I have been spotting small small. So my sister took me to the midwife she is using. She is actually a nurse and a doctor. She did nursing first degree and medicine and surgery second degree. She asked me to stop taking the blood medicine that i don't need it in my first trimester. that i should do more of veggies and folic acid. She said the doctor where I'm using presently is her colleague but specialises more on fertility but not after pregnancy. That the blood supplement could be reason for the spotting, apart from stress. I'm going for Scan this coming week though. Plz what do you people think about the blood supplement?

for me, I'd take creche at my workplace over a nanny. reason being I'm closer to my baby at the creche and I can pop in from time to time to see how he/she is doing...(I'm guessing d nanny will be staying home wt ur baby when u go to work?)

11 Weird, Awful, And Real Things That Can Happen After Giving Birth

Before you read on, I want to make it super clear that the joy of having a child far outweighs all the pain, discomfort, and potentially gross stuff that can happen after giving birth. In fact, most women are lucky enough to get through the baby-making process with nothing more than some frequent nausea, heartburn, tiger claw shaped stretch marks, and the obvious severe cramping that precedes a head popping through one’s vagina. No big deal, because the post-birth hormones flood you like the best drugs ever created (honestly, there’s no synthetic drug on the planet that can even come close to the oxytocin burst your body feels after making a fresh human). But, for some women (me included), the post-birth drama and trauma can be real. Also, let’s take a moment to be grateful we live in the 21st century because I don’t know how women did this before the availability of ice makers and comfortable mattresses.

1. Severe breast pain/engorgement.

This one will hit just about every one of the ladies who choose to have a baby, regardless of the style (sorry, milk comes in whether you pop that baby out the old fashioned way or have a C-section). “As if you thought your breasts couldn’t get any larger! This is typically caused by your milk coming in and may be accompanied by a fever which is normal,” explains Dr. Angela of askdrangela.com. While it may all be normal, I can tell you from firsthand experience that fever is the real deal and your boobs hurt with the might of 1,000 watermelons being placed inside your chest.
2. Lochia.

If the name reminds of you of the Loch Ness Monster, good, because that’s basically what will come out of your vagina in the days following the birth of your tiny angel. “That’s the vaginal bleeding, clots, tissue that requires those HORRIBLE, HUGE pads,” shares Dr. Angela. “The tissue, clots, bleeding that are a consequence of your recent delivery. This bleeding can last anywhere from 6-8 weeks. No, this doesn’t mean that you’re going to be bleeding daily for 6-8 weeks, just that this sort of bleeding can last up to this long. It should get lighter every day. So, make sure you’re wearing a pantyliner because just when you think it’s gone, BAM!, it’s back. Trust me. No one likes this sort of surprise.” Again, if you’ve had heavy periods, this isn’t even comparable. This is more like someone putting a bunch of your organs in a blender and letting it drip out of you. But your baby is adorable.
3. Gallstones.

UGH. “How about gallstones? I got horrible gallstones during my pregnancy with the twins,” shares my friend and fellow mom pal, Felissa Benjamin Allard. “Even though it was months after, I was rushed to the hospital in horrible blinding pain to have emergency gallbladder surgery. Apparently, gallstones are pretty common from pregnancy.”
4. Rashes from Hell.

“After delivery I developed an uncomfortable rash on my inner thighs and arms called PUPPS (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy). Yay. First the docs did not know what it was. Once they figured it out, I had to use a steroid cream that couldn't touch the baby, so I had to wear long sleeves whenever I held her. It sucked. One more thing to deal with at an already difficult time,” says Peggy Barresi.
5. Extremely painful SITTING.

Yup, Sitting could hurt. “I found out that sitting after a Vbirth is an art and that sitting down too fast can lead to a lot of damage. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and missed the mark a bit and sat on the edge of the toilet seat HARD and popped enough stitches that my healing took FOUR months. Even sitting on the couch took McGuyver like maneuvers,” shares Kelly Gordon Kaufman. And if you’re wondering, no amount of labor inducing exercises on this planet can help you work through that.
6. Blood pressure issues.

“My blood pressure dropped dangerously low and I went into cardiac arrest 4 hours after labor,” tells rockstar mom Aprill Coleman. “Delivered Chum just fine, breastfed him, they took him away to do what they do after childbirth. I got up to go to the bathroom just fine, when I got ready to sit down to pee, I blacked out. I woke up 2 hours later with bruises on my chest and my husband looking at me like I died. He was scared shitless.”
7. Itchy Moms Syndrome.

Apparently it’s a real thing, and Makasha Dorsey went through it. “During most of my pregnancy I had extreme itching, which resulted in my scratching the skin off my legs. Eventually I was diagnosed with obstetric cholestasis, commonly called itchy moms syndrome. It is a serious medical condition where your bile acid levels get so high that you have serious itching and it can put the baby's life at risk. Less than 24 hours after delivery the itching stopped and my bile acids were back to normal.”
8. Swelling.

Dr. Angela stresses, “I always tell my patients, swelling post delivery typically gets worse before it gets better. So don’t be surprised if you’re discharged to home and wake up one morning only to find that your legs look like tree trunks. Remember, during a pregnancy your intravascular volume increases by at least 50% so post delivery, this fluid has to go somewhere. This would also explain the increased urination post delivery. You’ve got to get rid of that fluid somehow.”
9. Cramps.

This one applies most intensely to breastfeeding moms since the uterus needs to find a way to shrivel back up to its original size in the hours and days following delivery. Breastfeeding signals the brain to speed that process up, so you can expect some very serious cramping in that time. But don’t worry, your nipples will hurt so bad you won’t even notice all the uterine pain.
10. Vaginal dryness.

“I am completely enthralled with vaginas!” Dr. Angela does not mess around with her enthusiasm, but reminds us to wait the full 6 weeks to give our vajeens the proper time to recoup. “Their ability to accommodate, and heal…..beyond descript. While I don’t know that vaginas ever completely regain their tone post delivery, I will say that they can come pretty close. Also, give your vagina some time to heal, return to normal. At that 6 week postpartum visit most partners are literally chomping at the bit to ‘get back in the saddle’ so to speak, however, quick tip, specifically if you’re breastfeeding. You might want to consider using a heavy lube and perhaps a glass of wine (joke!) as the vagina may dry due to the hypoestrogenic state created by breastfeeding. If you’re not breastfeeding, same rule applies as the hormones of pregnancy still haven’t quite returned to normal.”
11. Hemorrhoids.

“Any increase in inter-abdominal pressure, whether it be due to lots of pushing at the time of delivery, constipation, lifting heavy objects other than the baby post delivery, etc can result in hemorrhoids. These typically resolve on their own. It’s important to increase hydration (water, water, and more water), ensure a diet high in fiber, as well as avoid anything that causes you to strain.

About hot sit bath, when I had my first baby, i literally sat inside a 'basin' of hot water that made the stitches to loose and I had to be stitched again. My power house saw oba eh!!!.

I was told to use a paint bucket like the 4litres custard type to do sit bath when I went back to the hospital the second time.I will pour hot water in it, (not too hot or cold ),just enough to produce steam.add salvon and sit on it with my legs closed. The STEAM is what I need to heal the power house not the hot water and it was really ok.

When I feel it's too hot, I just stand up and rest small and seat again, make person jajaina no go perboil. grin

My dear, same thing happened to me too.You know most men like sex.i had to talk to dh but noticed my talk didnt do any good.so whenever he wanna have sex i just stay like a log of wood and in my mind it is like do and finish and let me sleep.he noticed dat i dnt respond and since den he left me for a month+ and i also didnt bother cos as he dey do me no dey do am.After i had to google where they said some women have low libido when pregnant and i sent to his mail to read den added some words to him dat he shouldnt get angry and not actually my fault he should try and understand.when he came back from work i knelt before him in a sober mood and pleaded for his understanding and we talked it thru dat it will soon be over since then he has been understanding. Altough we have different dhs but try study him and know how to explain to him.sorry for my long story, may we all deliver safely.

What works here should be understanding from both parties, he trys to understand you and you try to understand him too. Then together both of you work out something. Look for how to plan towards it for him and he should also try to make things easy for you.
Besides sex during pregnancy is beneficial to the mum, baby and the dad, knowing the benefits of sex during pregnancy makes it a win win situation for all.

a month + na wa o
