those DJI quadcopter are limited by range within 3 to 5 km,now what if you want to monitor a region beyond 20 ,50,100 km !now your CH3A operate from air bases and they are several, who is going to monitor those gaps left behind by DJI quad copter and the few CH-3A you have !

there are many drone with control range 10km-100km.you may Google them. eg: AEE. ect for ordinary operation 10 km is enough I think.

Task Force Sparta holds medical training with Kenyan Defense Forces

“FREEZE! FREEZE! FREEZE!” a soldier shouts after a simulated blast. He quickly uses a mine detector to scan for additional mock explosives in his path to an injured comrade, and begins simulating first aid.

This was one scenario used by U.S Navy Sailors from Task Force Sparta, currently assigned to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, as they taught tactical combat medical training to approximately 53 Kenyan Defense Force (KDF) soldiers and officers, Sept. 13-15, at a Kenyan training center.

“We are providing care under fire training for the combat engineers so they have a little bit more base knowledge of medicine while in a combat zone,” said U.S. Navy Hospitalman 1st Class Aaron Christensen, a dive independent duty corpsman. “And also to help them provide better care to their fellow soldiers, and (if need be) the local population [in] the areas they are deployed to.”

The soldiers learned basic CPR, first aid, buddy carries, how to stop massive bleeding, and how to use tourniquets, splints and compression bandages during the three-day class.

“The doctor, (Christensen), taught us something that we didn’t have knowledge of before, and we are very much grateful. From the start to this point we are far [more knowledgeable] than where we were in the beginning,” said KDF Lance Cpl. Mohamed, combat engineer. “How to control massive bleeding is what I am most interested in, because without blood you are nobody. So the first thing you have to do for a casualty who gets hurt is stop the bleeding.”

The KDF soldiers had some first aid knowledge before the training, but that knowledge was approximately 10 years old. The Task Force Sparta team was able to teach the soldiers more up-to-date medical techniques to better prepare them to provide emergency care, said Christensen.

The last portion of the medical course combined the counter-improvised explosive device (C-IED) knowledge they gained in the first week with their new medical knowledge by practicing patrolling a road and responding to a simulated IED casualty.

The medical training was one part of Deliberate Kindle 2016, a four-week Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) course designed to prepare the KDF soldiers for future deployments with the African Union Mission in Somalia. This training is critical for preparing soldiers deploying to Somalia, as al-Shabaab routinely deploys improvised explosive devices (IEDs), killing Somali National Security Forces and AMISOM soldiers, as well as innocent civilians.

The HMA course is scheduled to conclude Sept. 30, 2016. The KDF will have gained additional knowledge in countering IEDs, and medical knowledge to help them provide basic medical care for their future deployments in AMISOM.

Lol "few CH-3A you have".... what a petty statement, howmany MALE UCAV's do you operate in Kenya? Sadly the few helos you operate are dropping out of the sky every other day and these crashes are happening in fairly safe areas so you can't tell me it's due to AA fire or anything, unfortunately I have to agree With Tinfoil on the whole "incompetent KDF" thing.

anyways guy forget about the DJI's they were being utilized because a clever lad name Sunday Idajili developed a mapping programme based on the DJI platform so the army gave it a try. He was also among the crew of guys that birthed the Gulma.

The Nigerian army operates other far more sophisticated systems for actual battlefield surveillance and recon. Just because it's not on nairaland doesn't mean anyone is telling a lie.

This is why i find the comments made by @Frumentius to be unfortunate.

gees9, Centrifude.... Civilians wearing military cammo is also banned in Nigeria, infact as Nigerians, even celebrities would confirm, you don't want to be caught wearing military cammo. You would be arrested or publicly humiliated.

Get out of here. You first twist what I said and then seek validation from @gees9 & @centrifude' s erroneous interpretation of your mis-representation.

I repeat: only civilian leaders in unstable democracies with dodgy militaries go around officiating in BDUs.
Quite clear to an honest debater I'm not talking about ordinary civilians.

The terorrist sympathyzer TinFoil was talking about Kenya Police air-wing division and not KDF, these are two completely different institutions where-as The police chopper was brand new when it crashed (And BTW the chopper came with its own technicians from Italy who were to service it for 3 months b4 handing over to police technicians ---it crashed b4 end of 3 months cause of 'technical' problems )... The KDF Super Puma that crashed came to service in 1977..... its has served for 40years, and they came from Royal Airforce, so they have probably be in service for longer than that.

And BTW
Kenya Army air calvary has:
39 MD 500 (500M, 500MD,500MD/TOW) utility/light attack helos in service ( this is minus two which 1 is out of service and 1 crashed)
8 Harbin Z9WE light attack/utility helicopter (this is Minus one lost in OLN in Somalia in 2011-12)

Kenya airforce has:
6 IAR 330 helos (That is Minus 3 in storage)
2 Mil Mi -17 I/E
10 SA330 Super Puma (they were 14 in 1977, the 4 others including the one that crashed the other day have either been put in storage or crashed over the course of the 40 years they have been in KAF)

That makes KDF have a total of 65 Helos, thats not 'a few' by subsaharan Africa standards, For an army of less than 30K personnel and a budget of $1.2 Billion.
