objective ? By allowing looters to go unpunished ? In a sense,u'r advocating for d release of all prisoners in nigeria. Or u want different ruling for d rich and d poor. A man that stole a goat in oshogbo is still langushing in jail after d goat has been collected from him; and u'r not canvassing for his release becos he's a poor man. With ur submission, there is NO hope for ordinary nigeria.

Then kindly mention just 1 politician your buhari has been able to arrest, prosecute and jail. Mr. Hope for Nigeria.

Last time I checked Bukola saraki, the corrupt, is still the senate president. And unfortunately, he is still enjoying his loot. And either you like of or not, he will never be found guilty or punished.

By 2019, his case will still be in court and loads of tax money wasted on it.

You are not making sense!

First go and learn how to write coherently before you start quoting others.

In that way, you can pass a message across if atal you have any.

He actually made sense compared to what you wrote.
Yes they stole and we're angry but then you won't get the monies back by prosecuting them. All you'll get that way is at best jail time.
Jail time doesn't help you and me, but returned monies would.
The people he is prosecuting are strong enough to either build or destroy our economy.
Better do gra gra with sense.
In any, and I mean any society the elite are a stronger power than the leadership, unless the elite are the leadership, which is the case in Nigeria.
Btw fighting corruption is witch-hunting people, it's enforcing policies and not SELECTIVELY.

Who will give amnesty to the man stole goat and still awaiting trial

or the man that stole bag of rice because he was hungry and his hand cut off

or the man that stole car stereo and its still awaiting trial in kirikri

Or the young man that stole his boss 100k and was locked up

so in other words our laws doesn't apply to those that steal big like billions. .

what melaye is trying to tell us if you want to steal ...steal big. .steal billions then you will get away with it

Don't make it seem like a Nigerian thing.
It's all over the world.
The upper class would always enjoy those privileges. It's the delight of the elite and pain of the poor.
Btw all the offences you mentioned don't affect our economy in any way. Billions do.

I think he's sick

please you need to examine yourself before you write anything. Read closely and you will see that he is making sense. Remember Abacha loot since how many years now, the FG have not be able to recover 50% of the looted fund. With amnesty given, I believe the FG can recover more money than prosecutions without ending. Please think before you write.

It is obvious the major problem all these people have with this govt is its anti corruption posture. They want to continue their looting but PMB has not allowed them.

It is also obvious that the main problem Nigeria has is corruption. If corruption is curbed, a lot of things will start to function properly including the economy.

But they want to continue to loot and still want the economy to function.

You can imagine a senator asking for pardon for looters

What will be the thinking of other potential looters or even the common man/masses

Shame on you Dino!!!

I personally dont like Dino as a person, but i think here, he's made some sense. How much has FG pumped into prosecuting those who looted funds? How many convictions so far? Its better they're a given a conditional pardon, than this fruitless chase that we know will end no where. And for a fact, even this present adminitration is likewise corrupt, with its own set of looters,so they'll never be able to dispense justice effectively.

Be practical our recession today is cos of the corruption fighting slogan of this administration. Those with little or no economic weight are cheering while the levers of economic might are just in suspension watching and waiting for a change in current bragadooo!
Every economy and nation is corrupt. It is not a nigerian thing but, human. However, the reduction in corruption must mean expanding opportunities in an inclusive manner not, arresting and media serialization. We don't need series on corruption we need better lives.
This govt doesn't get it. The monies in the hands of many will ginger the economy if they are not encouraged to hide them away.

Let's be real now nigeria is rotten to the core. There are 2 ways i feel nigeria can prosper is when politicians/government officials get their wages cut down to barest minimum. No additional incentives. Let them live like average Nigerian . Secondly, capital punishment for those government officials past or present whom have been investigated and found guilty of corruption/looting and their assets must be seized by the government. Let their families feel the hardship an average nigerian goes through on a daily basis. With deze 2 things in place nigeria will develop at a very rapid rate. We need a ruthless president in this countrý. I believe nigerians love being treated like animals before tthey do the right thing

When you say 'amnesty', Dino, it means all is forgiven, so why would they return the looted funds AFTER the amnesty? How do you prosecute someone you have already granted amnesty to? The problem of this country is our penchant for seeking the easy way out of problems. It has not worked in any country. I have nothing against Buhari's war on corruption. I only want more transparency on the amount recovered and how it is being applied, given our extant economic circumstances..

Read this objectively and you'll see the sense in it.

The law is an arse...naturally...

So most of the corruption cases will likely drag on for years with nothing to show for it...

The real problem is our constitution...'nuff said...

I actually don't think it's a totally absurd idea. For many years, Nigeria developed a culture of corruption. In order to compete in business, a lot of people turn to corruption because that is/was the surest way to win in Nigeria. It's still evident in Nigeria. I got swindled at immigration HQ the last time I wanted to apply for a passport because that's the culture at immigration HQ.
As far back as I can remember, our leaders have been looting. Ogas at the top loot to the detriment of those under them. When those under become ogas, they loot too because that's what those before them taught them. It's sad but Dino may have a point. It's like trying to punish people for what was once legal.
Give them 6 months. If they don't comply then send fire.
This should also mean taking their businesses and auctioning it out to qualified domestic investors. They can't reap the benefit of their past corrupt practice.
This includes releasing everyone guilty of a non-violent crime in Nigeria....or shortening their jail term.

Nigeria hurts today because thieves were once running our economy. The PDP theives have now hidden their money.

In a law that has Laws and Order, what you composed is outright gibberish. You can as well say prison inmates too should be giving a soft landing or forced to repent.

When you keep doing the same thing without success and you don't think of changing something, then it's madness.

This is an ingenious, albeit controversial suggestion... But there's a sense in it...

I thought looting constitutes a crime; well, if what he wants is pardon, then other convicts of non-economic crimes should be pardoned since their effect isn't colossal.

There is problem in the land, if a Senator can make such statements.
Makes me wonder what kind of intellectual activities that goes on in his mind and head.
He and 300+ other Senators and House of Representatives have the POWER to make laws, and the best he can offer is this.
I am afraid for my children and their generation.

Should the FG take such measures today and risk the future??

Does he understand what he's requesting? That the looters be embraced under the facade of an amnesty programme, when the law is clear and immovable as the rock of Mt. Sinai.

Have a rethink!

How is he even sure that the so-called polithieves will return the money. Besides, that medium through which these hoodlums will be caught will also show what asset(s) they stole, so what's the need?

The FG should seize and confiscate whatever asset it is, return them to the coffers and prosecute the thieves. There should be no peace for the wicked!!

I Don dey curse Dino before I read the body of the news. Dino is right this time o. Fellow Nigerians, this is the only way we can move forward from the darkness these devious thieves have put us. They command all corners of powers and will not let the purest of Buhari achieve anything if they know they stand to be punished.

OK o, let mr. PRESIDENT ANNOUNCE COMMENCEMENT OF THE AMNESTY AND GIVE DEADLINE. ANYONE WHO REFUSES TO COMMIT TO THE TERMS WHICH IS TO REFUND ALL MONIES STOLEN AND TENDER APOLOGIES AND THOSE WHO STEAL AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT SHALL BE PUT TO THEIR DEATH BY HANGING.
I support o . My fellow Nigerians na so dem do for south Africa after apartheid o. No other way, I recon. And yes Dino, you know very well all of you don't deserve that title. More like exploitative and dishonorable members. You see dis one talk sha. Hopefully God go dey use u do good job even if u get your own agenda.

i agree with the senator. getting convicting evidence and witnesses has hampered agencies. this would reduce the number of enemies on all fronts and refunders would be witnesses in cases against those that do not refund. a politics ban for refunders.

Keep whatever issues you have with dino to yourself.

There's no sense in asking for pardon for looters. Its either you are a looter or a potential looter too.

I don't know how you want to prevent a crime if there's no punishment for it. You can as well say there should be no laws again, since pardon can be granted anyhow.

I repeat, with this your comment, you are a potential looter.

Let there be just and true justice in Nigeria. Let the judiciary prosecute every criminals and justly punish everyone who is convicted among them whether poor or rich, the followers or the leaders. If those who looted Nigeria's money are not prosecuted and those who are convicted among them are not justly punished whether by imprisonment, confiscation of assets, fines and the likes as it is good, right and proper. What that will mean is that the president and government is still corrupt
