The Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria yesterday announced they have expelled top Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, from the Hausa film industry because she featured in a romantic musical video by Jos born singer, ClassiQ and hugged, cuddled the music artist.

Press play to see the video. The association said the feature was immoral and also warned other actors and actresses to henceforth follow the rules binding their participation in the Kannywood film industry.

Meanwhile, a die hard Rahama Sadau fan has started a campaign demanding that MOPPAN takes Rahama Sadau back.

I am sure you already know that Rahama Sadau has been suspended for hugging a man in a music video. I am a poor girl like Rahama from the North who once found her impressive life an inspiration, the way she was able to rise from being an everyday girl from Kaduna to starring in Nollywood pictures made me dream, maybe one day, I too could.

In many ways, I think she's a lot like you - a woman facing the brute reality of trying to make it in a man's world. Unfortunately, Rahama's 'inspiring' days are about to be cut short. I know its a lot to ask, I know you have so many more important things to deal with and I know this might never get to you, but something in me told me I had to at least try.

MOPPAN is a national body and whether they like it or not, the people in Nollywood hold all the big guns, and there aren't many women with your reach or influence that can or might be willing to make them chip in.

Please share my petition on your site, or perhaps just give your voice to those calling for more fairness in the matter.
The people that did this are being inspired by the same religious puritanism that inspired Boko Haram, please help poor northern girls know that it's not a crime to hug or be hugged, it's not crime to do what men are allowed to do everyday of their lives.

She was banned from kannywood and if you are a stakeholder in nollywood u can invite her over. In Hausa movies, bodily contacts are highly prohibited at least for the children watching unlike in ur kind of movies where married women are practically banged on stage. U can't decide for the kannywood regulating body, at least this is about their lives and not urs, so take a chill.

My friend you might have lived in the North but you don't know anything about the North, Social deviant is associated with location, period, etc. Something that is moral in one community might be immoral in another one. So you can't just judge the morality of her actions Base on the norms and cultures of your community. yea, you are right! The culture shift is evident. As for the Koreans, the K pop is rulling the far east even though they are not as powerful economically, politically and militarily as the Japanese and the Chinese.

Lee Ming Ho is a popular figure not only in Korea, but in the whole of the far east including Japan and China.

In the islamic middle east and north Africa, the Turks have the day there. Their soaps are the biggest cultural thing on TV.

Their elites marry 12 year old girls but when their ladies who are clearly adults hug a guy in videos, they ban and banish them. Good gracious!

Kannywood isn't always lengthy, its much more creative with unique storylines, it preserves the Hausa culture without adopting too much of western culture, it features beautiful women unlike the gorilla-faced fat women wee see on nollywood. Wow I never knew there are hausa people on NL. The fact is Hausa movies are meant to preserve our culture and not to adopt this western culture nonsense. Slowly we are losing all our cultural values. Years back, Kannywood actors never wore jeans or T shirts. I'm not saying it is wrong but at least we should be proud of our own culture too. Look at how annoying and useless bollywood movies have become nowadays. Its because they chose to adopt another mans culture.

See bro, Bollywood had similar characteristics in the 80s and 90s. But they understood that the only way they could make meaningful impact and achieve the kind of growth that they desired (which has eventually taken them to their current position of worlds' number two movie industry) was to loosen their grip on culture. They still "hardly" kiss in Bollywood movies.

Kannywood will fare a lot better if only they can find a mix between their cultural beliefs and those of the rest of the world. That way, they can teach us all what they truly are about.
