Why is that this "news" was only made available on Nigeria blogsphere. This news was first made available on DailyTrust website earlier this morning and within a span of thirty minute tons of Nigeria bloggers featured it on their website. However, independent search on media news outlet in the Middle East does not feature it. If this news is official polices of the Saudi kingdom, I don't think this news will elude the Media outfit in the Middle East. Abbeyme: |

Both the lunar and solar (gregorian) are recognized in Islam. Only that the lunar is used in dating Islamic events. Ignorant people all over this thread. |

bonechamberlain:Illiteracy is indeed a disease! FYI, when the Gregorian calender was initiated by the Roman Catholic Pope, the Protestants and Eastern Orthodox countries still used the Julian calender and only adopted the former for ease of business transactions. All are Christians(correct me if I am wrong). Fast forward to 2016, the adoption of the Gregorian calender is purely for economic purposes and doesnt change anyhing in the faith and beliefs of Muslims. Reminder for those making noise: both Christianity and Islam are received religions. If you have a problem with Islam, drop your received Christianity and go back to your ancestors' religions. 4 Likes |

Is not only the Muslim that resisted, many protestant countries rejected it at the inception when it was promulgated by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. The protestant countries called Pope Gregory the anti-christ accusing him of foisting Catholic act on them...it took Elizabethan England almost 150 years to accept the Gregorian calender...the last European country to accept it was Greece in 1923. Beetobee: Religious riot. I wonder what an imam would do if he manage to get to heaven and see christians there or what a pastor would tell God if he himself manage to get to heaven and see traditional worshippers and moslems here. We better stop this religion riot. Some states are declaring public holiday while right there in Saudi Arabia the kingdom is complying with christian calendar. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians with wisdom. |

Another evidence that Buhari is managing our economy very well. Saudi Arabian oil output was not sabotaged by militants and their population is much lower than Nigeria as against their being largest oil producer. |
