you people will see the truth but won't accept it, shame on you people
What truth are talking about, was she forced to watch Nigerian films.
Better still she go and produce the one she feels is right.

Mindfulness:
A few days ago I saw a thread showing a mentally ill woman beaten up and with a swollen face (she couldn't even opne her eyes anymore) because some people actually believed she was a witch.

Some time ago I saw a thread about a boy (age 3 or 4) who was deserted by his own family because they believed he had evil powers or something like that (a Swedish woman saved the boy from the dangers of the street).

I don't think Nollywood is the problem here. The reality is.

Nollywood has helped shape this reality in no small measure.
It has been more a source of edutainment, than entertainment.....
Wrong fallacious education.

You will agree with me that people could live in the same space and time and yet have different realities.

If I fear wicked people today, If I fear that someone who touches my bump might have rubbed some jujuristic stuff on it, it's partly because of the stories I was told in Church and partly because of what I watched in nollywood movies.

Till this day, I still try to shake some odd and false mentalities off.

I would never consider Nollywood educative and I agree with you that it helps propagate a certain image but it's not a one way street.

You will agree with me that people could live in the same space and time and yet have different realities.

Absolutely!

If I fear wicked people today, If I fear that someone who touches my bump might have rubbed some jujuristic stuff on it, it's partly because of the stories I was told in Church and partly because of what I watched in nollywood movies.

Till this day, I still try to shake some odd and false mentalities off.

I am still trying to get rid of the images that I was fed with by my older cousins with the horror movies they allowed me to watch when I was 7,8.9. Trust me, Nollywood is a child's game in comparison but let's not go there. smiley

It's not that I believe that the movies were true but I can't forget some of the pictures.

Why do people combine religion with culture. They re different entities. The earlier roman, Israelites or Greek were not Christian and the earlier Arabs were not also Muslims. They changed their ways because they were convinced about the new ways to reach God instead of worshiping what was created. We all have our cultures whether Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa and this is showing in the way we dress, our food and other ways. Religion is bigger than culture because it has to do with faith.

That lady is a senior staff in the coven of the witches and wizards, it's obvious she is not happy that the nolliwood is not representing them well.

Per white movies, even at this age, there are some I don't bother watching no matter how interesting the storyline.

What I'm more concerned about is the quality of Nollywood production and story. You can write witchy story and it can still be good. Another problem with Nollywood is that they can be too monotonous.
I'm not going to say African deities are good because I'm African. And it's also foolish to think that Christianity is a white man's religion.

Why should most films involve occult operations and consultation. For instance I reside in Lagos and for 30 years now, I have no business with any other spiritual being except Almighty God. meaning the culture Nigeria films promotes is wrong

no1 do you think at all? Your reasoning is so dilapidated. What did I say? And what are you saying?
are you affiliated to any of those countries you mentioned?..
if you sef no wan watch nollywood please create your own movie structure ..as et is you are not more important than others
lol.... what you could think of about the examples I cited about the countries above is if I'm affiliated with them lol I know your type...

for your information I'm representing well in my sector as a modern Farmer.

my message is simple to understand but in order to help your comprehension ability easier, I'm typically saying the Nollywood should promote our culture and stop making Africa/Nigeria look like it's all about evil and wickedness is that too much for you to understand??

they'll portray most rich people as ritualist/ occultic people,
every uncle is has a favorite native doctor

every aunt is a witch.
every native doctor is evil

as weird as Halloween is it's some people's culture and the funniest thing is some of our celebrities are buying it here already...

look at Greece, I'm not from there but I love the stories about their gods( Zeus, Hades etc) and that was because they sold it to the world positively with movies, books and video games.

gosh..... we just need to believe in our originality

I wonder what our unborn children will meet

Teacher1776:

most nollywood movies are morally driven. It is often a clash between forces of good and that of evil. The good sometimes represented by a Christian pastor, whereas,, the evil man could be represented a witch doctor or even a fake pastor. The sentiment here is: why not make the native doctor a good guy? Why always depicting them fetish? That is a question for the next script writer. However, we should concentrate more on the message rather than the form and structure. And the pervading message in most of the movies is: being good has positive rewards. Being wicked has negative rewards. The choice is ours.
I'm not against the message bro(which is usually straight forward in most movies anyway) I'm only saying our culture is dying and Nollywood is the main cause.

we see our deities as evil where as the white men are even coming all the way here to study them. and even do research on them

have you ever really wondered why most Nigerians are not interested in Nollywood itself. we both know youths of nowadays will not sit and watch our dear Nollywood movies. and why is it so?

do the producers need your view before they make a movie? Baba when they acted the movie they didn't theme et Nigerian culture or whatever ,et was used a scenario. You are talking about Zeus in Greece, aren't there bad stories about Zeus? Don't drag this, they are using et to portray a particular scenario.
