@cutiereborn, if I have given all the prescribed drugs, done steam bath, done everything and still it did not stop, i leave it stop all drugs. It just goes on it's own.
@mamamj, you can take her to the clinic or but vitamin C and give her steam bath

Thanks so much, bought the Vit C already and I was told to spray silver bird in a cloth and place close to her...pls is that ok?

mummy,ur post really cracked me up.
my lo is nt slim either am I. he looks big, even bigger than his age mates but was wondering how he ONLY added 2.6kg. thanks so much.

as for the sitting i will wait out,but dont u think he is a bit late ma?

Babies will seat, crawl and walk when they are ready. They need to be able to control their neck and back muscles themselves to be able to sit up unaided At 4 months most babies i.e. 95% CANNOT do that WITHOUT support!
It is advised at this stage to sit them up and support their backs, head and sides with cushions and do not leave them like that for long periods or un-supervised.

6 months is the ideal time, that is also one of the reasons, weaning is also advised at 6 months as babies can control their necks and hold up their heads better at that age.

cutiereborn and mamamj, can you stop any powder you're using on baby? Also, if you have tried Antibiotics and it didn't work, it may be an allergy (allergy symptoms are usually coughing and cartaarh, since they affect eye, nose and throat). Which means some particles like dust or pollen is lodging in their lungs and irritating them. So no fans directly on them (because it pushes particles into their system. The fans should be above them facing in their direction but not blowing on them and it should be some distance from them. Rechargeable fans are short-necked so it is too close to baby, it will blow particles into their face and they will breathe it in. Go back to the doctor and ask him about allergies and he will prescribe a syrup for them. I don't want to mention the name so you don't buy it dirctly without a prescription (I heard it can cause drowsiness).
A lot of babies outgrow their allergies but some keep them (I still have mine). What you don't want to do is aggravate it and cause Asthma.
HTH

Thanks mama...I never used powder on her cos of what I read about it. I will stop the fan for now and see. I have used vit C

Thanks a lot for your detailed response always...

I have tried all these and more...he takes a little at the beginning of the feed and just loses interest after 4 tiny spoons...I have become musician, clown, MC, everything I tell you...only thing he takes willingly is Gerber lil crunchies (cheese ball) n puffs! Is that food?? Tiring but will just keep trying...God help me!

Thanks once more

How old is he? Sometimes the answer is finger foods. You can cut boiled or fried yam/potatoes soft boiled carrots, toast and the like and just give him after his 4 or so spoons. He will eat it at his own pace. Try not to give too much snacks, as he may start prefering that to proper food. Also do not leave him unsupervised when he is self feeding due to the risk of choking.

I always make sure i have bread at home so if my dd is being fussy which she usually isn't, i give her toast sliced to a size she can hold. And she will sit there happily sucking it, tearing it up, throwing it around and going back to pick up the pieces to eat.

The only downside is the cleaning up afterwards...lol.

potato chips and dodo. Then carrots cut very slim in long strips. Even puff puff with all its oiliness (they need the carbs and calories). Finger food baby can play with. Have you tried Spaghetti, just break it into small bits.

Hello mothers in the house: Onegai, AlphaHandMaiden, Rofemiguwa, Soonest, Doubledouble, Tojued, Helovesme and all other mamas, please;

My DS of 7weeks has been pooing all day. Pooed a total of 5 times today. It started yesterday evening. Please what can I do about this? Please.
It's also worth mentioning that he is not on breastmilk at all, sad only NAN1.

About the breastmilk, please I need advice on that too. When he was born, I didn't lactate immediately. Eventually I did but he just won't latch on. I expressed both with my hand and with a manual breast pump, even at midnight like mama AlphaHandMaiden advised, the most I ever got was 90ml!
And then the breastmilk started dwindling to 10/15ml. Till I stopped all together.

Now the doctor wants to bring back the breastmilk, placed me on a med already. My question is, even if breastmilk supply comes back, how do I make DS latch? As at today, he still wouldn't latch.
How do I keep breastmilk from drying up again?

Please mothers in the house, all suggestions, ideas, advices are welcome. Thank you.

Keep pumping.it will eventually flow.
4 latching.try putting the whole black part of ur breast into baby's mouth.do it gently.once he gets a good grab of the nipple he will start sucking. If u have a big nipple try supporting ur breast by putting ur fingers under and lifting d breast to support.
If ur baby isnt opening his mouth well.bring him closer to breast gently pressing his nose with the breast.he will respond by opening his mouth more. Then put ur little finger into is mouth and adjust ur nipple a little more to enable hold on to d areola more(the dark part of the breast) release the pressure.then rock him and sing to him.
This is u reassuring him that he can keep sucking that mummy is here and everything will be alright.

If u dont get it the first time, try again n again.
Everything will be fine just take it easy.

For d poo.i dont know.about d frequency.my ebf baby was pooing 6 times a day till she was 3 months.then she didnt poo for 3 days den went back to pooing once a day since den soetimes once in two days.
I think as long as the poo is healthy.yellow poo no mucus or blood..its okay.
U can go see a doctor if u r really worried.

Thank you Ma. It definitely helps, I have stopped applying powder to her neck cos she sweats a lot & DH has practically banned fan, so she sweats & soaks up the bed, still same. As for Antibiotics, I haven't given her any. I think I will do as FINA4804 says and stop giving her any medication and if it continues till Friday, we will go see a doctor for allergies.

Please if your baby sweats a lot, change the clothes often. Wet/sweat soaked clothes gives them cold. Change the cloth once she sweats

Thank you Ma. That never occurred to me. Would mean waking up severally at night but worth the risk of not catching cold.

Must she sleep in nightclothes? Can you do without pjs for one night and let us see what happens? We had to do that when we went over to sleep somewhere without constant light.

Kotias003 check madam zaynies old post she posted the fenugreek sellers num the lady waybill to me in phc.

Also as per your lo not latching. I was once in your shoes. Its because he is already accustomed to bottle or cup nd spoon. What i did in my case was i forced her, my mum held her head while i was putting her to breast, we did that like twice and rite now am the one complaining of sucking.

About lactating I will advice you eat more after eating get a little rest then you pump tgen drink alot of water when i say alot then it means like every 20mins 1lit. I hope it helps. All the best sis

Thanks a lot ma for your response...I can see now I spell your moniker wrong...

We are 12 days shy of 13 months. I will keep trying though, have given him lots of finger foods except toast n dodo. I stopped the snacks over 3 weeks now. We tried this afternoon, he finished his beans n fish porridge...yaay!!!

The cleaning up is the most annoying part...I have devised a new strategy of putting their highchairs on the mat...so, once they are through all I need clean is the mat n not the carpet...whew!

Thanks once again...

Mamas that may want to do hot steaming for their kids, do it without adding anything just the hot water is okay, use bucket instead of bowl, keep the bucket on the ground and turn baby's face towards it, cover both of you with thick towel, to do this easily local sit is advised. Your baby will sweat and the mucus must come out by force, pls use your mouth to suction it out (its your baby, don't get irritated). Do this anytime he sneeze hard with mucus. After the steaming, apply mentholatum on the chest, back, feet, ribs and palm, wear chest cover cloth for him/her.

Do this morning and night, the cattarh will flee away.

@Ozycy and the other mama, can't remember the moniker...thanks for the heads up on the groundnut paste. I tried it yesterday and it came out real smooth and sweet...no water needed at all...downside was my preggie sis visited and insisted on peanut butter made by moi...that's how I became groundnut roaster and blender...you can mix with all sort of things, I mixed hers with olive oil and honey.

Thanks once again to all mamas...I now have a freezer full with groundnut paste, by the time it runs out we would have moved on...

Hian, overheating is a problem o. And unless you're up North, Nigerian weather is not that cold o. Okay, put the rechargeable fan far from her and use both fans and then cover her up. I just feel it's an allergy but let's wait a few more days and see.

Please he's on point with his weight. Abi you want a baby you can't carry? 6.6 is a good weight for that age. Most important thing is that his growth chart is steadily climbing.

Lol at the sitting thing. My baby can lift his head at three months and everybody is praising us. (You must have taken a lot of calcium etc). Traditionally, boys sit at 4 months and girls at 3 months. Oyinboally, 4 months is an assisted sitter. Why the rush self? Who sitting epp?

You can never please those who want to be displeased so get rid of all the pressure.

Thickest pjs... Poor baby. Try facing the rechargeable fan to the wall. The breeze will hit the wall and ricochet back to keep everywhere cool without touching anyone directly.

In case you want to underdress because of heat please ensure there are no mosquitoes o!
