What form of special treatment of former capital is best practice?
They give them a % of Germany's revenue?

The earlier all Nigerian cities start generating their own revenue the better for you and I.
Sharing revenue is no best practice anywhere except Nigeria.

Germany operates a federal system where each state is independent and contribute tax to the federal centre. Part of this tax that goes to the German Federal govt goes the Bonn city. 6 out of the 15 German ministries are still left in Bonn. The German Chancellor and the German President still has a second govt office in Bonn. Unesco head quarters which was to be built in Berlin was moved to Bonn cus of this and by extension the united Nations university was also established in bonn. A new university, Bonn Rhein seig university of applied science was also built in Bonn by d federal govt to compensate for moving d capital. Bonn is still referred to as a federal city till tomorrow.

Do u still want more facts?

This is a bill in the right direction.... shocked Lagos is overburdened with the influx of people daily into a limited space and if nothing is done about this soon, a situation will arise when all will stand to lose out. Let Senator Tinubu represent the bill....this time they must campaign hard to win a wider spread of support.

Eko oni baje o.... cool

Why should only Northern senators defend FCT with all their might? I thought they said the place belong to all Nigerians hence the 3% allocation to it.

This is a blessing in disguise, I for once wants no special status for Lagos cos it will continue to make folks from other parts of the country lay unnecessary claim on Lagos. The rejection of the bill preserves the the indigenous identity of Lagos which is what a lot of folks do not understand

Lagos remains a Yoruba state and should be preserve as such. To hell with the special status cos it can breed future unnecessary disputes.

That most Nigerians wants to be in Lagos should be seen as a plus and prosperity for posterity for the true indigenes of Lagos.

The the Federal government centralisation of Seaports, Airport and Banking/Finance industry are the reasons why people are coming to lagos.

If other seaports and Airports from Ondo to Calaba are giving the same leverage as Lagos, Lagos population will reduce .

1. The seaport and airports you mentioned are nothing but myths and baseless argument you people confuse yourselves with, Lagos is Lagos today because Lagos is Nigeria's industrial capital, financial capital, entertainment capital, real estate capital and Nigeria generates more growth, more jobs and GDP many times over than the ignorant nonsense you people shout all over the place.

Last I checked, there are ports and international airports in other places in Nigeria so of what relevance and common sense is your argument?

2. Even , if you uproot the seaport and airport in Lagos to any other place in Nigeria, are you also going to uproot the factories, industrial estates and the industries including entertainment, real estate, banking and finance, ICT HUBs, people, culture and everything that makes Lagos the 7th largest economy in Africa?

You people just reason like 2 year old kids..

I really hope you are not the smartest person in your village with because if you are, they are doomed..

Simple answer to your very well thought out question... THE BRITISH.

The brits decimated the oyo and benin empires, same way today many people do not remember the roman empire who also conquered Britain!

They were soo decimated that it took centuries to reconstitute the 'italic nations"

Why the brits decimated benin kingdom? Due to their resistance, sophistication and military might. Oyo? To secure the colony of lagos whilst northern nations were spared cos the leaders were amenable (indirect rule)

northern nations were not spared they were used by the colonialists to start war against other kingdoms but they couldn't overrun the oyo kingdom then the british created mistrust within the yorubas which led to the yoruba civil war then the same british were attacking the yorubas from the south(oceans) but the yorubas decided to stop fighting and the british won......

but the yorubas then concentrated on fighting the fulanis.. the fulanis were almost overrun by the yorubas but the stepped in and stopped the war when they realized the yorubas were winning..

the colonialists always favored fulanis they were never spared..

Lagos as a former federal capital territory deserves a special status for the purpose of revenue sharing in order to manage the huge challenges that was inherited from the relocation of the country's capital. This is in line with best practises all over the world. But unfortunately, tribalism, hatred and outright jealousy will not allow the law makers take the right decision.

Calabar was simply administrative HQ for the old British Southern Protectorate, it was never actually a capital in the strict sense of the word. Neither was Lokoja. The comparison cannot be made sir.

Na so.. Meanwhile
Whatever you want to be so far you are determined and focused, you can achieve it. Regardless of the current economic trend there are specific groups of people that make decent income through legitimate means; their secret is that they build a passive stream of income that doesn't require their full attention while they go about their daily activities. This is the way they do it; with as little as N1,000 ($2) investment you can build a sustainable stream of income and guaranteed financial freedom using a tested and trusted system, all you need are the following:
1). Internet Enabled phone,
2). Local Nigerian bank account, and
3). G-mail address.
Once these three requirements are in place you are already qualified, PM me through my signature on WhatsApp, you'll be added to the group where you learn everything about the program and how to join .
NOTE: You are not paying any money to me, I'm currently benefiting from the extra stream of income this program provided and I feel you should be a part of it.
..and remember no good thing comes easy........but we've made it simpler for you.
