She said i should stay away from fried rice, sweet potato, salad, fried egg and any sweet meal until my LO is 6months. I can't even take malt or use milk in my meals without hiding away from her prying eyes. My LO is currently 3months.

Good evening mothers. Mil is fond of opening windows throughout. I've pleaded but said she can't sleep in heat. We always visit one weekend every month. Dh said I should be covering Ds up and so I did but mosquitoes still managed to bite his face all over. Showed mil but said he was reacting to something and I left her place without saying anything.
I've decided to be taking mosquito net with me as I can't do without her.
Now ds is having temperature. Went to pharmacy and bought maxiquine syrup. I used it this morning and now. Pls is 2.5ml okay for 6months baby? I forgot to ask the pharmacist and no prescription dosage for baby on the leaflet.

Well I did o!, following precious mum's advice here. Although that early morning on her birthdate-29th I gave her bf like around 4am when she wasn't fully awake, but I told myself that would be the last time. Though I was en-gored that day, I bought cabbage next day, put in freezer and started using. Anytime she comes close to my bre-ast, I will start telling her that she is a big girl now and big girls don't suck. It's 6days and counting now and I can proudly say we have been weaned. Before I forget, she now wakes up once and I give her water or pap depending on the level of the hunger.

Woow, I envy u oo, u make it sound like it was dat easy. Was there no cry n incessant request for bm? How did u handle nite soothing bk 2 slip.
My lo doesn't use bottle, hw do u feed her @ nite wen she wakes up n seems like bm is d only solution?

How's Hansel and his dad? I think she is saying that so as to prevent Hansel from having jedi-jed/ slimy stool. My MIL said i can take whatever as long as I take boiled scent leaf( that is my agbo) to cleanse my system.

I eat all desirables so to avoid stories that would stress me, I succumbed.

I got scent leaves in bulk, boiled ,stored in 1 litre Eva bottles in my freezer and I restock once I notice it remains 2 bottles and true, my boy hasn't had one in his stool .

Me, I ate everything eatable o. All those food listed have no negative effect on baby, just take them in moderation abi is she from the ancient?

@sugah, I Never experience any skin rashes on my baby, so I have no idea about the name. But there is this red leaf flower they use in treating eela in babies, if you can go local, I will advise u go to those Yoruba women that sell agbo stuff in the market, they will have what you can boil to bathe baby. They call them elewe omo.

I want to rant small.

My baby weighed 6.5 at 4 months,1 week, he is 7 months and still weighs 6.6kg. When I introduced Gerber rice at 4 months,he finishes 125ml of the food but it gave him constipation, so I told his care giver to be making his food light. I had to stop the food because the constipation still continued. So I introduced cerelac. I told mama (as we call her) to make it thick cos it doesn't cause him constipation but for where, she makes the food so light and just 75ml. When I complained, she said he doesn't collect more than that. I was busy giving him only breastmilk at home.

Last week, I introduced pap, mama said he collects the pap well but at home, he didn't. So I gave him his cereal. I made it thick and up to 125ml, before 3 mins, my baby finished it. 3 hours later, I fed him the same quantity, he finished it. So we continued. I cried in my heart that we have been starving this boy.

So I put the quantity I make in each of that cereal dispenser, I told mama, 100ml of water and finish 1 of the plates and feed him every 3 hours. Lo and behold when I check during break, she didn't finish it. I got angry. I told her my mind.

Next feed, she join the previous plate she left and the second plate, my baby finished it.

He has finished the 400g I bought on Sunday night

You can do a smaller cake for him to take pictures, not necessary you do an elaborate parry.

My SIL order for a cake for my boy, that was what we used for his pictures, only for him to get 2 extra cakes as gift, we took it to the church for him to snap with his age mates and from there I shared cakes with the children and parents, they were happy.

Life goes on.

Ma, I will advice you go back to the pharmacy to ask for prescription. or if there is any Dr you can call to ask.

Omo mehn, Cerelac was beginning to be a pricey option, we have been drinking Weetabix and all was well. So I decided to try Golden Morn and she has reacted to it. Arms and bum covered in a nasty rash and she started stooling. Please Mamas, any other suggestions for cereal or do we stay with Weetabix and Quaker Oats?

Sweethrt why did you wait for so long b4 seeking help. The same thing happened to me. My dear manual breastpump CANNOT help you, cause i tried it and my baby wouldn't latch. So why i was still training my baby to latch i was ensuring i was expressing with an ELECTRIC pump to keep my breast from drying up and expressing more milk. That first stopped her from drinking formula. Please act quick 7 weeks is alot of time lot. You will be surprised at the amount of milk you will express with an electric pump. Lastly baby may not latch cause he is not getting much, which is the work your electric pump will do for you cause breast milk production is on a demand and supply basis.

PS. manual pumps can be used by those whose breast milk flow has been established not by you who wants to start..

Also as per your lo not latching. I was once in your shoes. Its because he is already accustomed to bottle or cup nd spoon. What i did in my case was i forced her, my mum held her head while i was putting her to breast, we did that like twice and rite now am the one complaining of sucking.

About lactating I will advice you eat more after eating get a little rest then you pump tgen drink alot of water when i say alot then it means like every 20mins 1lit. I hope it helps. All the best sis

Keep pumping.it will eventually flow.
4 latching.try putting the whole black part of ur breast into baby's mouth.do it gently.once he gets a good grab of the nipple he will start sucking. If u have a big nipple try supporting ur breast by putting ur fingers under and lifting d breast to support.
If ur baby isnt opening his mouth well.bring him closer to breast gently pressing his nose with the breast.he will respond by opening his mouth more. Then put ur little finger into is mouth and adjust ur nipple a little more to enable hold on to d areola more(the dark part of the breast) release the pressure.then rock him and sing to him.
This is u reassuring him that he can keep sucking that mummy is here and everything will be alright.

If u dont get it the first time,try again n again.
Everything will be fine just take it easy.

For d poo.i dont know.about d frequency.my ebf baby was pooing 6 times a day till she was 3 months.then she didnt poo for 3 days den went back to pooing once a day since den soetimes once in two days.
I think as long as the poo is healthy.yellow poo no mucus or blood..its okay.
U can go see a doctor if u r really worried.

Hello. For a fully formula fed baby, 5 times is a bit suspicious but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong. Make sure your hygiene is top notch and your source of water potable. Formula not taken under an hour should be discarded. Do not premix your formula and put in the refrigerator. Once your handling, storage and hygiene on everything to do with baby is excellent, then we can cross that out.

Check the consistency and colour of the poop. The poop tells you a lot about baby's health. If everything is good, it could be baby has a very active metabolism. Just free baby...he/she will adjust with time.

On bringing back breast milk... I personally, don't like the use of medication...just take a lot of fluid, ewedu, fenugreek, pap, soups and all. Also put baby to breast very very often, pump a lot as well...

Started ANC at 12 weeks and I didn't misses any appointments. The nurses say I get the positioning right.

Mine was not just hot he even refused to eat but I still cuddled him whenever he cried fast forward to today when we went 4 10weeks dose on getting home he was even playing n acting normal...In all just know that immunization calls for extra pampering and cuddling d pain may or may not be part of the package

@Onegai I can only say be golden morn has way more sugar than the other things you've listed. That could be reason for rash. Continue with the wholemeal options you started with. Maybe try branflakes? Muesli?

Number 1 - How many times does he stool a day? At his age, watery stool isn't uncommon. It's also possible he's not getting enough quality milk from you. That said, why not take him back to the hospital ? If you are not happy with the quality of care from your current hospital, please go to another hospital.

For question number 2, excessive crying might be hunger. Are you sure your milk is flowing properly? A bulging stomach is not a sign that your baby is "full" of breast milk. Try and introduce formula, feed him as often as stated on the tin but keep breastfeeding him till you are sure your milk flows well. I think introducing formula might also help with question 1.

I have not experienced question 3 personally but I think it's been addressed on this thread previously. Wait for a mum that has experienced this to answer you.

Electric breast pump doesn't work for everybody.

One of the things I regretted buying is the medela electric breast pump. A rather useless pricy gadget and yet I can't remember expressing more than 50ml. Even that 50ml took over an hour. I also found the whole process of pumping rather uncomfortable and weird.

I dumped it after using it for a few days and I continuing breast feeding my baby (not worrying whether milk was flowing or not) while supplementing with formula and drinking lots of hot water, tea, etc. Within two weeks or so,my milk started flowing to the extent that it would soak the sheets if I didn't wear a breast pad.

13 months on and my milk still flows well and I'm still actively breastfeeding.

For the stuffy nose/runny nose/catarrah, have you tried silverbird diluted with any oil (olive oil or coconut oil or baby oil).

Put a capful of silverbird in about 30ml of oil (I use a spray bottle). Apply it on your baby's head (the crown). It works like a charm.

You can also sprinkle a few drops of the diluted silverbird on your baby's clothing or on her bed sheet.

For the cough, please take her to the hospital. Once a cough sounds chesty (serious) and it's been ongoing for 7-10 days, then it's likely it's bacterial and a doctor needs to prescribe mild antibiotics. Vitamin C will do little or nothing.

#Threadbabies on Fridays . Tojued and comtem2011, it was a really bad rash o, we gave her small Golden Morn the first time and the ones on the hand started and then the next time it spread to her back and went down. I wanted to try Heinz cereal but someone said it wasn't good which is why I never bothered. Thanks

No.3 was answered here and I think I remembered it was said you shouldn't lie baby down after feeding but support his head up so the food stays down and burp him well. That amount of poo may be nothing scary (is it yellow-brown and paste-like like peanut butter?). If it is, it should be fine. Take him back to the hospital let them check that stooling out and if you are given another set of antibiotics, try it and if it doesn't stop, stop the antibiotics because you don't want him building a resistance. It is called efinrin in Yoruba, when u get to this Igbo market women that sell ugwu, water leaf and co, just tell them u want to buy scent leaf.

You can even make it inform of soup and add orisirisi inside, eat with whatever you are pleased with.

I blend my own with enough locust beans.
