To the question: "do you have any immediate relatives, not including parents, in the US ", she answered NO.

Is this the right response? I want to reapply for her and I am wondering if this is one of the reasons she was denied. The definition of immediate relative I got online seems to suggest she was right but I want to be sure.

Would I in any way face any difficulty? And for your extra information my Uncle is the one sponsoring my education. Also, I am a Cameroonian but I grew up here in Nigeria, legally because my mom is a Nigerian. Am I going to be able to apply for a Visa in Nigeria? Also do I need extra documents as I am using my Cameroonian Passport?

We won't give odds on getting a visa. We can say that older students do get approved for visas, but every applicant is evaluated on a variety of factors.

You can apply with your Cameroonian passport in Nigeria, and you do not need any additional documents. You would have to pay a reciprocity fee if the fee charged by Cameroon for visas is greater than in Nigeria. Please I want you guys to help me have a better understanding on this issue, I've applied initially for visa with the married status and skipped the interview, because I booked appointment for myself alone and intended to go for annual vacation.
I intend to pay for another visa fees to restart the application, only this time with a single status, since I am traveling alone.
My question is, will the initial information won't still be on record, since I didn't go for the interview and did not thumb print.
Secondly-I have an uncle in New York, but I want to book for hotel reservation against where I will be staying in d same new York. While I use his informations as contact person, I also want to know if this won't trigger an eye brow...

Please i am asking this question on behalf of a friend. He and his wife with their two children applied for a B1/B2 Visa in June this year and was denied. The V/O that interviewed them said the state that they were travelling to that Americans don't go there. They were scared as it was their first time of travelling to the USA having travelled as family and they have travelled to the UK three times. Can they reapply?

I got a B1/B2 visa that has expired and i want to renew it via the dropbox service. After filling my DS160,and made payment. Trying to book appoitment but i logged in with my old profile for the previous visa. i noticed i cannot change my passport number as my old passport expired in 2015. what do you advice? My D160 carries my new passport nos so also payment confirmation. Should i just go ahead with the appointment using the old expired passport but submit both passports at the dropbox center?

I have two questions which are regarding the situation myself and my wife currently face.

My wife went to the united states on a B1/B2 visa to write some exams and we also decided to have our baby over there with full intention of paying the medical bills ( This was not her first trip). We registered in a hospital and paid up all our medical bills as charged during ante-natal with no outstanding. When the time for delivery came, she went into labour and due to some complications at birth, she was rushed into the emergency operating room after over 12hrs of labour for an emergency Cesarean section. After delivery, the baby had some medical complications and was transferred to a specialist teaching hospital and placed in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for over 2weeks because of the severity.

At this point, the hospital hospital financial coordinator informed us that due to the nature of my wife's delivery which is categorised as emergency, she could be given emergency medicaid (NB: We planned on sorting our bills ourselves as evident by no defaulting on the ante-natal charge). At this point we thought it was a normal process in the case of an emergency and we accepted. Medicaid was extended to the baby as a resident of the state and U.S citizen also.

My first question is this, I am beginning to hear and discover that the emergency medicaid extended to the mother can be interpreted as her being a "PUBLIC CHARGE" and can be grounds for visa refusal when she wants to renew and even if she gets the visa, she could be denied entry by border control and immigration. Even though according to USCIS public charge factsheet - https://www.uscis.gov/news/fact-sheets/public-charge-fact-sheet - getting Medicaid for emergency medical services and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are grounds for one not to be considered a public charge. We are still willing to be pay the bill if this is not the case and immigration wants us to pay the bills ourselves.

My second question; Due to the baby's extended stay in the hospital, we couldn't get his visa on time and it only came out on the last day of the mother's valid stay in the United States (we have all the papers to prove this). She had to change her ticket date and overstayed by 10days (the earliest flying date available on the airline). How do we explain this to the VO to understand the situation.

Just to point out, I am asking these questions because our baby's birth complication requires him to have follow-up appointments with some specialist doctors in the hospital where he was placed in intensive care after some months regularly until he is 18 - 24months old. That is why getting his mother's visa renewed is very important to us.
