which giant that can only achieve a 0.1 % growth , where is M23 Today !,you can't even deal with ragtag mai mai and Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) with machetes(while you claim your in DRC,for your own interest).how many candidate vying for seats in SA have being assassinated this year !
a small country can invade a big country like DRC(for its own interest) ,while SA can't deal with ragtag rebels in CAR !!??

Zapped by FARDC suppoted by FIB.

South Africa is a troop contributing country to the FIB. The groups you mention didn't receive much attention as they weren't such a huge threat. Counter insurgency not semi conventional tactics are applied.

Land size doesn't translate to military power.

Last time they invaded the DRC our Namibian cousins and the Zimbos(SADC countries) dealt with them. SADC is the most peaceful region of all African regions but when rain clouds gather in SA everyone must get an umbrella in the region.

Land size doesn't translate to military power.

The SANDF doesn't get reimbursed for deployments. The government is.

South Africa brands it's self as the gateway into Africa not as an African giant.

They are dealing with security problems in their neighbourhood. The reason Kenya went into Somalia.

Rwanda defence forces ATMOS 2000 (Autonomous Truck Mounted howitzer System) 155 mm/52 calibre self-propelled (SP) artillery system manufactured by Israeli military manufacturer Soltam Systems

Let me play du.mb.

155mm.

It is a heavy self propelled howitzer but really mobile on the ground can keep up mechanized units. Great bush breaker and highly rugged.

Interestingly the SA army acquired the Soltam M-71 howitzer in the 80s as an interim solution before the G5 towed howitzer could get into service. It is the gun used on the ATMOS.

Denel offers the T5 system a truck mounted howitzer similar to the ATMOS-2000 but with longer range and probably better terminal performance with the Rheinmetall shells.

155mm 45 calibre is the version in service.

G6 Rhino.

1. As seen in Yemen with the UAE forces.

2. T5 demonstrated. (the army might acquire these to replace stocks).

Beechcraft 1900D HISAR Multi Mission Surveillance Aircraft , Algerian Air Force.

Mounted under the fuselage in a large fairing is the HISAR. The aircraft are also equipped with Sky Guardian ESM and Wescam Type 16 FLIR and SIGINT function also was added .

HISAR An adaptable airborne surveillance system that incorporates multiple sensors, air and ground workstations, and data links to fit a variety of mission needs. The system’s Multimission Radar (MMR) performs real-time processing, and operates in all weather, night or day, making it the perfect choice for a diverse range of applications in surveillance and reconnaissance, environmental monitoring, and maritime surveillance. The high-resolution synthetic aperture MMR also features ground moving target indication, wide area coverage, long range, a sea surveillance mode, and detailed narrow sector search abilities. The multisensor options include forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensors, as well as medium- and long-range optical sensors . This multiplatform turnkey solution is lightweight and adaptable, designed for installation on a variety of fixed-wing aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles. The HISAR radar is small enough to fit on an executive turboprop or jet. It is integrated on a number of platforms, including the King Air 200 and Beech 1900D, the de-Havilland-7 and -8, and the Grob Egrett (a German/US high-altitude long endurance manned single turboprop aircraft made out of composites, with a wingspan similar to a Boeing 737). HISAR™ 2K adds tethered aerostat compatibility.

HISAR is Raytheon’s turnkey offering to the airborne surveillance and reconnaissance market in the $10m to $30m-per-system class. A HISAR system in this class includes the airborne platform, sensors, ground station and a complete logistics package. Designed to perform a variety of missions, HISAR can be used for border surveillance, maritime patrol, environmental monitoring, detection of oil spills and other disasters. It also can be a valuable aid in curbing the drug trade, gun smuggling and other illegal activities. With its real-time, all-weather, day or night surveillance capabilities, the system is readily adaptable to a host of current and evolving needs.
