eolowu1:any how you dim fit, squeezing, boiling, souping , all goes. but if you are to squeeze, pls wash very well. preparing as soup: Blend with pepper, crayfish, locust beans (if u take it), u can add 1/4 cup of melon. After blending, turn into the pot and add palm oil and other necessary condiment, cover it. just cook/boil for like ten minutes, soup is ready. 1 Like |

iomoge2, will you have access to a very cold freezer in the hospital or at home after birth? If you do, you should try and make a Witch Hazel padsicle. I had one after I gave birth and didn't need to sitz bath (I only did them because everyone said I should). Get alcohol-free Witch Hazel (either from Healthplus or online from Jules Therapy on Konga.com), mix 60: 40 ratio witch hazel to cold water (you can put regular water and freeze the entire mixture) and soak with a towel and put it in your pad. You can add Aloe Vera gel (which you can extract from the plant or get Fruit of the Earth aloe Vera gel), Lavender essential oil (also from Healthplus or Ebeano) and add to the mix. You don't even have to pour it on a towel, you can pour the mixture straight between your legs. But it has to be alcohol-free Witch Hazel. I would have mentioned it earlier but those ingredienta have gotten a bit pricey with the dollar issue. 3 Likes 6 Shares |

cutiereborn: Thank u ma 4 d detailed explanation. I was kinda scared bt I tink am a bit relieved nw hoping on God to make it easy 4 me. My Anty told me 2 buy one drug like dat Cinotab. That it will cool my lo and mk him nt 2 run temp if he crys too much. That that was wot she used during her time. She has 5 kids nw. Pls mamas, is it advisable to use drugs 4 ds process (weanin) Also can I gv my lo Ovaltine as his tea? |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Onegai(f): 6:08pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
stadora: NO! Sorry for yelling, but millions of mothers have weaned without a single drug given. Why would a baby run a fever from being weaned?? Why are you giving Ovaltine, it's sugar-y and expensive compared to plain good ol' whole milk. Well, it's upto you. 2 Likes |

Pls mama's which adult milk is best for 1 year above? A friend of mine uses thrive signature for ages 1 to 3 and swears it's very good but I just wanna give adult milk since its OK to take from a year upwards. My son is 19 months |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Onegai(f): 7:08pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
stadora: Do you remember Bournvita of our youth, chocolatey it was? Well, nowadays when you mix it plain, it is always light brown in colour without milk. I suspect they reduced the amount of cocoa and increased the sugar. And I feel it's the same as Ovaltine. So, if you want to give LO, okay, but milk is better IMO. Plus, less expenses. We've never had Ovaltine and she hasn't missed it. I'd rather give her milk to drink. |

Onegai: Onegai, pls what you wrote avbove is it for fast n painless healing of episiotomy? If no, have you heard of one spray that can be used for that. Pls mamas i need your response |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Onegai(f): 8:53pm On Oct 06, 2016 |
hotmomma: It's a pain relieving spray. It's really good for taking away the pain. It doesn't heal but you will feel nothing if you get sewn. It's one of the free stuff they give you in hospitals abroad but I think it's sold in Healthplus or Medplus over here in Naija (but Lord knows the price). The Witch Hazel is nice, clean and cooling and will aid with healing. The coldness of the witch hazel mix is nice and aloe Vera is soothing (I used to rub raw aloe vera gel on my skin when it itches). Nothing will speed up the healing process but as long as the place is not infected and is cool, you won't notice anything. I was driving around 4 days after birth and I didn't notice till I started bleeding heavily. I didn't sitz bath till like 3 weeks later or so. I don't think I needed to. cc iomoge2 and PresVA 1 Like 2 Shares

Onegai:I thought something was wrong with me cos I also had episiotomy and didn't do the sitz bath everybody was talking about. I had to go spreadeagled and checked out my privates and sure enough, my epi had healed three weeks after. What I did? The hospital gave me these cooling ice packs, Jumbo pads, Tucks hemorrhoidal pads, one episiotomy ointment like that, a squirt bottle (I bought Epsom salt from CVS and used it alongside water in the squirt bottle when i go pee or poo) and demoplast. The nurses taught me how to layer the cooling pads, witch hazel pads and all that for comfort(They did the first one for me) I was driving three days postpartum with no complications and was healed of episiotomy in two weeks or so. No more pains...my doctor also gave me a prescription for pain and I did nit even finish the 10day supply before the pain went away. 1 Like 1 Share |

MamaOO: Does it not drive you crazy you get all that free stuff yet in Nigeria, you will buy even Omo and Imperial Leather soap to carry to bathe your newborn?? I mean, we don't deserve to be called a good country. I wanted to organise a free charity care package for new mums in GHs but abeg I can't even try it. 2 Likes |

iomoge2, PresVA and other mamas, that witch hazel thing will really help. Ingredients are: Witch-Hazel (alcohol-free) Aloe Vera gel (optional) Lavender essential oil cold water Mix it and put it in a squirt bottle (see pic below). I've seen them sold with Salon supply people in lagos island or apparently you can check Gbadebo street, Ojota. Spray liberally. Epsom salt is sold in pharmacies (the mall pharmacies have them). MamaOO can explain how she used them. I only did sitz bath because people mentioned it and I used to use it to hide and sleep in the bathtub . But sitz baths do work still and more affordable and accessible. 1 Like 4 Shares

Onegai:You're so right! I went to the hospital with nothing for the baby except his going home outfit and i came back with all sorts of freebies. (diapers, wipes, breastmilk storage bags, cooler bags, medicine dispensers, Johnson baby baths, lots of breastmilk storage bottle, pacifiers, thermometers). I can't remember all I brought back. It was a lot!! I even got a double electric breastpump (Medela) and a car seat for free from my health insurance. If and when you decide to organize the free charity thing, please let me know. I will Like to contribute. The cost of shipping stuff down to Nigeria is back breaking, I would have sent tons of diapers cos the ones I got from my baby shower was way to much than baby can finish in 3 years sef. 5 Likes |

Good evening mamas. Please I need your advice. I noticed my 14 weeks old babies can now lift and turn their head and raise their leg when on their tummy during tummy time. Their head is pretty stable on their neck I.e even when it falls back or forth they can bring it back to position without assistance. How do i know my baby is ready to sit?....Can i start putting them to sit? |

If it covers the cord, it might cause pains to the baby. Wear open ones until cord falls off iomoge2: 2 Likes |

mompurity2: I put lo's bouncer in sitting position. I also sit him on my lap facing me, then hold his hands to balance him. I'm kinda the wrong person to advise on this cos I'm not in a hurry for him to sit. A mama gave advise about using indomie carton for sitting practice some pages back. midnight prayer point: Heavenly father please turn to us and heal our country. Forgive us our sins and save us from the agony of war. We ask in the name of your son Jesus Christ. Amen. 13 Likes 1 Share |
