My dear, there is both ceiling fan & rechargeable fan in the room, but DH says the cold & cough she has is cos of fan, so he insists I switch off both and wear her, her thickest pjays.
I think rotating standing fan is better than putting on ceiling fan for babies. I hope you don't put him directly under the fan, even the standing fan shouldn't be too close to him.

@Ozyc I and the other mama, can't remember the moniker...thanks for the heads up on the groundnut paste. I tried it yesterday and it came out real smooth and sweet...no water needed at all...downside was my preggie sis visited and insisted on peanut butter made by moi...that's how I became groundnut roaster and blender...you can mix with all sort of things, I mixed hers with olive oil and honey.
How exactly did you do this? Did you roast the groundnut yourself, what kind of blender did you use. Make I follow you dey chop home made gnut paste. Mine is finished and am not ready to send sis inlaw in this Buharised era.

Omo mehn, Cerelac was beginning to be a pricey option, we have been drinking Weetabix and all was well. So I decided to try Golden Morn and she has reacted to it. Arms and bum covered in a nasty rash and she started stooling. Please Mamas, any other suggestions for cereal or do we stay with Weetabix and Quaker Oats?
Have you tried Nutribom brand of cereal? They are cheaper like 500-600 per pack for 350g and it doesn't finish fast like cerelac. They have rice, maize, oat, mixed cereal, banana and apple. I buy all plus cerelac so we don't keep repeating same taste. Dunno if the weetabix is cheaper dou.

Mamas, please i need to confirm this. One lady has been on my neck condemning my diet.
She said i should stay away from fried rice, sweet potato, salad, fried egg and any sweet meal until my LO is 6months. I can't even take malt or use milk in my meals without hiding away from her prying eyes. My LO is currently 3months.
Abeg na true?

I know you should avoid sweet things like soft drinks, sugar etc, but I can't relate with fried rice, egg and co.

Yes I roasted groundnut myself. I explained a few pages back on how to do that, pls check. I made use of the dry mill of my blender initially. The brand is kenwood...not all this new kenwood o, have had this since...way before wedding. My lil sis bought a new kenwood at mega plaza and it packed up in under 5 weeks! Apologies for digressing jare. The dry mill us small and was taking too much time, so I decided to use my food processor...viola! It worked better and faster!

Just keep blending, stopping every 3mins or up to you, to scrape it the sides. It will go crumbly, but keep at it...after a while you won't need anyone to tell you. When smooth add your oil, honey or whatever flavour- if using. The oil makes it smoother n creamier. Enjoy!

iomoge2, will you have access to a very cold freezer in the hospital or at home after birth? If you do, you should try and make a Witch Hazel padsicle. I had one after I gave birth and didn't need to sitz bath (I only did them because everyone said I should).

Get alcohol-free Witch Hazel (either from Healthplus or online from Jules Therapy on Konga.com), mix 60: 40 ratio witch hazel to cold water (you can put regular water and freeze the entire mixture) and soak with a towel and put it in your pad. You can add Aloe Vera gel (which you can extract from the plant or get Fruit of the Earth aloe Vera gel), Lavender essential oil (also from Healthplus or Ebeano) and add to the mix. You don't even have to pour it on a towel, you can pour the mixture straight between your legs. But it has to be alcohol-free Witch Hazel.

I would have mentioned it earlier but those ingredienta have gotten a bit pricey with the dollar issue.

Hymn...I remember this...very cooling. I had no tears but knew sthg monumental had happened to my thingy down there. So I used this and felt better. It is very effective. Thumbs up to you mama.

Pls mama's which adult milk is best for 1 year above? A friend of mine uses thrive signature for ages 1 to 3 and swears it's very good but I just wanna give adult milk since its OK to take from a year upwards. My son is 19 months

Any full fat milk is okay. The key is FULL FAT. 19 months?? You have tried...I plan transitioning my los at 18 months, if not earlier with this "change" thingy!

Hello mums how are our wonderful gifts(LO) doing?

Pls what's the best food for a six month's old?

In my opinion, I would say puréed foods...sweet potatoes, carrots, rice, peas, cereal, et al... Just make sure it is single food, single grain - no combos yet. This is to make sure baby has no allergy or negative reaction to the food. I followed the 3 days rule in the 6th month, i.e, you give wait 3 days before introducing another food to baby, this is also cos of allergy. If you are just introducing solids to baby, Start with smooth puréed food gradually to mashed food...

Hello Mums

My baby is 20 days today and there's complain that she's stooling too much. How much excreta is too much for a baby? She was on flagyl for 7 days after placed under a photolamp to treat jaundice. They say it might be the flagyl but we have stopped it for about a week now. How many times a day should a normal 20-day old baby pass stool?

There is no set number of time for pooping. Check for the colour n consistency of poop. A normal ebfd baby's poop should be yellow and seeded watery( not diarrhoea watery), seeds are like egusi...a combo fed baby might have same but a lil thicker; a formula fed baby colour ranges from yellow to light brown with a paste-like consistency- peanut butter like.

If baby's poop physical appearance is ok n baby have good number of wets too, then all is well. Baby is said to be thriving. Some babies poop after every feed.

Aww, thanks a lot. so I can't just buy the already fried g.nut? Abeg wch one s chickpea? and biko soups like what? no vex for my plenty questions o.

I don't know about already fried groundnut, but won't advise if for baby. Chickpea is seen mainly in Asian cuisine. It is high in fibre and protein. I add it to my pap cos my boy is mainly on formula n pap.

I add into soups like chicken n veggies as flour.

Does it not drive you crazy you get all that free stuff yet in Nigeria, you will buy even Omo and Imperial Leather soap to carry to bathe your newborn?? I mean, we don't deserve to be called a good country. I wanted to organise a free charity care package for new mums in GHs but abeg I can't even try it.

Sorry to butt in...those things ain't free sister considering how much you pay for maternity/birth package.

We have written and even put up pictures and charts so use the Search and look it up, there are tons of info. It's maybe 10-15 pages back. I deleted all the pics, I'd have reposted them pele. Just check "6 months baby food health" in the search bar on NL.

I didn't pay, covered by Govt Insurance. In U.K. it's taxes at work, in the U.S. it's Health insurance and it is also actually sponsored by companies (I even got coupons for Enfamil formula). Which is what I wanted to replicate here: sponsorship by private individuals, churches and companies. But considering how much you pay, it's still a good thing. In Nigeria, even if you pay, you will still have to carrt every item on your list. Though I think expensive private hospitals here don't tell you to buy detergent.

It feels like I won a million dollars jackpot...my boy finished his food throughout yesterday. I made chicken n veggies puréed. He finished it- 3 heaped adult spoons o...no fuss, no singing. He was quiet and just opening his mouth so we went quiet with him and had them take his sister to another room cos her noise is something else. After the meal I gave him steamed carrot sticks as dessert- he nibbled a little n played with the remaining. For late lunch, it was semo- he didn't take. So I decided to try same combo as the brunch- he finished it again! He took same with banana pudding for supper!

Do I keep giving him just this or what now oo?? Thanks so much for your assistance...

Yup. Start with what he likes then give him more stuff, just keep introducing food to him.

I am glad my post was able to help ease some of your doubts. As per the drugs, I don't know as I didn't give any to my daughter and she is fine. Also I have never heard of giving kids drug for weaning. You might want to consult your doctor before you do.
I started giving my daughter ovaltine when she was 11.5months with formular milk. Now I make tea for her with Nido & ovaltine. I think after their first birthday, ovaltine is good. Please other sabi mama's, confirm for us.

The bed is at the corner of the room while the ceiling fan is at the center. It's mostly for air circulation. And we try not to put the standing fan close or facing her.
She is feeling much better sha. We thank God.

rezzy-dear, have you found another source of income, have your millions landed grin because Cerelac is now N1100 per can and it may rise further. So if he's finishing it quite fast, you may need to run for LG chairman and embezzle some public funds. I'm in the same situation and when I see how Baby E sometimes decides halfway to waste food and pour it on the floor, I shed bitter tears inwardly. But I've decided to stop crying....

And announce my candidancy for Local Government Chairperson!!!! Please come and support me with your votes, illegal and otherwise! grin

Can't precisely recommend any, but whichever milk you give your child should be full and not filled cream. It's not a function of price, three crown is expensive but it's filled. Blue boat relatively cheap is full. Dano has both filled and full. Loya is full, peak is full. Cowbell is filled.

Filled means animal fat was taken out and replaced with vegetable fat. It's healthy for those watching their cholesterol.

Good evening mamas. Please I need your advice.
I noticed my 14 weeks old babies can now lift and turn their head and raise their leg when on their tummy during tummy time. Their head is pretty stable on their neck I.e even when it falls back or forth they can bring it back to position without assistance. How do i know my baby is ready to sit?....Can i start putting them to sit?

No vex, I had to do a lot of scrolling and I missed it a couple of times.
It's good their necks are getting strong. Honestly, I would wait till 4 months or even 4 and a half months, there's no rush. Try and lie them down propped on a pillow first. I didn't check any guideline so i wouldn't keep panicking that "baby isn't sitting, isn't walking, has no teeth, didn't get elected for School President, doesn't have a boyfriend, hasn't finished learning how to colour neatly so may not get admission into an Ivy league university". smiley So, start sitting them propped up with pillows behind them in 2 weeks' time?
