Zaynie, how can you like ages 4-5, that's the worst group ever! grin I never taught but I used to volunteer and that age group never sat still, during Story Time, they were climbing my back to plait my hair and fidgetting constantly ("Charlie pushed me, Nneka is sitting too close, I want to pee, Toyin's leg is touching my own"wink

zaynie:
So I've been teaching for more than half of my life and I love it.
I've taught adults to read, can be hair pulling tho.
I've taught 8 year olds. They are the easiest to get along with.
I've taught secondary students, I'm never doing that again! The pranks, the attitude, the gossip, the challenging your authority......
I've taught 4-5year olds and they are the best! Innocent, obedient and pure. They tend to regard me like a 'god'. To them..... I know it all. I am perfect.

Now, I teach 2-3 year olds and my life is hell!
A funny kind of hell tho.
Sometimes I feel when they leave their houses in the morning, their only intention is to finish me before closing.
Sometimes I smack myself in the head and say Zaynie... what pushed you to go this low!
They repeat whatever you say!
You call out to them and they grin at you while running from you, expecting you to give chase.
They spend forever in the bathroom, one hand wash bottle per day is what we use up. I wasn't surprised when the basin quit after 1 week..... culprit was paper towels.
Just when you are serious to work, they find a neat excuse to leave your side..... I need to peepee, I want water....failure to comply; wet clothes from peepee or ear piercing screeches of "water! " >sad
They take your name, muddle it up till even you cannot recognize it..... Ms Zainab is MeJaina, Ms Vic is MicVic.

And today, after I finished feeding Banky.... he said "Thank you my baby MeJaina" . Me! Baby!
Dara doesn't like eating by herself cos she doesn't like using her fingers! She will point to you, point to the food ( even specify the particular one she wants) then she will open her mouth and point to it.
Like seriously, how lazy can a child get cheesy

Right now, I hate my job when I am at work but love it once I get home and remember all the naughty things they did.

Gotta go now.

And this is the most painful of all

paper towels....do we use such in naija.
useless copy and paste articles .

exactly, only reading it i knew it wasnt original.
most ppl just copy and paste.
a typical nigerian teacher wouldn't sound this way.
i weep for my country.

I know they will scold you, but you made an important point. This is not an original piece. She could have copied it from a book rather than online. Why can't she challenge us!!

I don't think she copied it from there, but I'm hundred percent sure this write-up is not originally hers, unless she is a foreigner. Observe her use of words, "mullato", "afro", etc. Experienced people know she's describing a foreign primary school here.
Check out these screen shoot. Am on my Phone, I can't provide much prove. Just copy and paste are Post to Google and scroll down to verify it yourself.

Are you saying its only in foreign primary schools that we have a mulatto?
Is "Afro" not a word?
Is mom/mum not a word?
Is it that Nigerians don't use these words?

So what makes these words peculiar to just a foreign primary school or a foreigner?

It would make more sense to say that she teaches in an international primary school. When you hear all those schools that collect big fees, these are the kinds of teachers they employ. First off, the class usually is a mix of Nigerians and other nationalities. Secondly, the teachers usually have foreign degrees in early child education and know how to bring out the best in kids.

Underestimate the power of such education at your peril.

Of course Nigerians use those words, but if you extensively studied Literature or Creative Arts, you'd observe that certain dictions are not peculiar to full Nigerians. Also, there's something known as setting, the setting she describes here is not of the typical Nigerian school; not even one that belongs to the elite.

If you hear a mother talking yo will know. If you hear mumy talking you will know. If you hear mum talking you will know. And if you hear mama talking you will know. But this lady i couldnt just know if she is a mother, mumy or mum but i am definately sure she is not mama. Let me quickly run away before some idiots ask me to define babymama.

Can you look at your screenshot and then go the link itself to see that those words are not There at all.

If you actually know how to use Google on mobile, it will show you the words you are searching for at the end of the page. It was a coincidence that the link was the last search link before it. Now, i am really scared of the quality of education in Nigeria.

You have a very important point. If you observed in my initial comment, I asked if she teaches in Nigeria or whether she's a full Nigerian at all. You could be right, but I feel it's highly unlikely still, because I have experienced settings in top Nigerian private schools like Corona, Atlantic Hall, etc. Hers 'sound' way too foreign.

BTW, read the screenshot from telim above 'cos I'm unable to view it properly through my device. He claims she plagiarised it from there.

How did you experience those schools? I attended one of those "elite" schools and my kids attend same now. There is a big difference between how we were taught and the experiences my kids are going through now. I have a neighbour that teaches in one of those schools and it is a pleasure relating with her because she is so different from the typical teacher.
