Beautiful! I have heard about it b4 now. My question is are they being vaccinated like the other exotic birds?

Seriously? they eat whatever you feed them with? Even kitchen reminants? pls clarify on that point.Am dicey as to go noilers or broilers.at 9 weeks now,how much have u spent of feeding n drugs so far?
yeah you can feed them with either domestic or agricultural waste, or even rear them as cockerels, but they do better when fed broiler feed. As for me when brooding them from day old to 6weeks I used broiler starter, after that I decide to mix feed for them. And as for drugs I bought neubron which is a multivitamin, amoxitin for coryza, koksidex against coccidiossis, and then I vaccinated them with gumboro and lasota. So far I bought 3bags of feed, and I mixed a 100kg of feed which they are now on the last quarter.

They realy tried at nine weeks, they grow fast but not as fast as broilers. Check out mine at*26* days
Actually the broilers and noilers are not comparable,
Broilers attain 1.8 kg in 7-8wks, were as noilers Attain 2.6 kg in 13-16wks depending on how you feed them. At 7wks the noilers are as big as 7wk broilers only that the broilers are heavier.
Another thing is that any bird kept for meat production is termed "Broiler" so the noilers is a tougher and more rugged broiler but not as fast in growth as the fast growing broilers.
And the noilers or kuroiler or croiler initiative was carried out in other to assist those in rural areas to earn a living, especially those in poverty, it was first carried out and sponsored by bill gates in India under kerbb farms, in other to produce a fast growing and resistant variety of bird that will survive under harsh conditions and yet do as good as a commercial broiler with a little effort in terms of feeding and taking care of.
The ugandans and Kenyans have been rearing them for quite some times now, their government shipped them from India. You can research online with the term croiler or kuroiler. Even though the dont grow as fast the commercial broiler atleast the are better than cockerels. Thank you.

Please when did you vaccinate them with Lasota and Gumboro? Mine are 4 weeks and I haven't vaccinated them at all, cos I thought they don't need it. Please, enlighten me on this. Thank you.

I Vaccinated them with Gumboro when they were 10days old, and then lasota after a week. Even I vaccinated them to be on the safer side, due to the fact that I normally rear broilers, so I vaccinated them as a preventive measure.

50 for starters. But I m already regretting not putting more. Anyway I bought them to experiment, I have already separated them into males and females, but I noticed the ones I m feeding broiler diet are heavier than the ones on growers mash.

Wait, how do you know which ones are male and which ones are female? Most of my own have that red thing on their head...the thing cocks have.

You mean the comb/crown? At 5-6wks, the comb or crown tend to be more pronounced, larger and red, in the males. Normally they noilers come in a ratio of 50:50 in a carton, 25males and 25 females. As for the black noilers and sported ones, the males normally have a white patch or spot on the head right from day old. And there are other ways of identifying them even from day old.

Okay. Thanks. You want to keep the female for egg production? Maybe I will do that too.

*Something you have to understand is this; noilers are extremely susceptible to coccidiosis so you have to handle them with care. Your litter management has to be on point. I've supplied over 8 people noilers and they've all complained of coccidiosis. I didn't lose birds to cocci cos I know how to manage it real well.

*I love them cos they don't eat much and they come in pairs of males and females

*And NO, they don't come in a ratio of 25males and 25 females...They don't have time to count them as such at the hatchery; what you fine in the carton is what you get. Sometimes you get 55 in a carton. I know someone who got 60 in one carton, 58 in another, 53 in another. He bought 600 noilers from us.

*Noilers at 14weeks would have attained a weight of 2.2kg i.e table size if well managed and fed. I know this for a fact cos I reared them ad that was the result I got

*If you rear them using special concentrates like KBC etc, at 12weeks, they're ready to be sold.

*Noilers are 101% better than all those white cockerels as they have the best FCR and they'll give very good ROI.

I noticed this myself. I have about 50 right now. So, what's the best treatment for the coccidiosis? And what's the best way to prevent it?

Please, can you speak more on this? What is KBC? Thanks in advance.
Re: Let's Talk About Noilers by Turks: 7:52am On Oct 08, 2016
*What exactly do you need me to speak more on?

*KBC is Kouidjis Broiler Concentrates. They're a brand in Nigeria that sell feed ingredients/additives and they tell you what and how to mix them in what proportion. They sell broiler, layer and turkey concentrates and to be honest, though expensive, the minute you start making use of this concentrate, you'll hate finished feeds cos they're miles better.

Okay. Thanks. I need you to speak more on coccidiosis in Noilers and how best to treat it. I noticed it in some of my Noilers recently. Also, my Noilers are 5 weeks, but they hate finely grounded feed. After they eat the small grains of corn in the feed, they start whining for food again, even if there is still food in their feeding bowls.
Re: Let's Talk About Noilers by Turks: 8:35am On Oct 08, 2016
Coccidiosis isnt all about treatment; it starts with you litter your pen management as well as your litter management.
*Make sure the litter is always dry and loose
*Make sure the birds are not overcrowded
*Make sure the birds don't poop in their feeders and drinkers as this makes the cocci cycle continue.
*Make sure the pen is proprely aerated. Ventilation is key in every pen.

I just gave highlights on the cocci management. Once all those highlighted points are followed; you can then commence treatment with Prococc or Vitacox. Vitacox comes highly recommended tho.

What brand of feed do you use at the moment?

Hybrid. Actually, I started with Hybrid, and switched to Top Feeds about two weeks ago. It appears top feed is too finely grinned for them. I switched back to Hybrid this morning, and they are loving it.

This is the hardest for me. They keep flying on the drinkers and pooping inside. I have to keep changing the water like every hour. But they are doing okay so far...apart from 2-3 who stay in a position like they are cold.

I have my reservations when it comes to Top Feed..Hybrid will suffice...You can also get them AMO feed.

Lol...Well, that's why poultry us a full time job. You need to check on them every now and again to keep theit feeders and drinkers clean for their own good

You need to isolate the ones giving the cold pose. Remove them from the flock and treat them seperately. You need to have a set aside compartment. The compartment will serve as an infirmary. Give vitacox and they'll be fine.

I tried Top Feed cos people on Nairaland Agric section usually sing praises about it. Anyway, thanks, I will stick to my Hybrid. They have a depot at my bus stop. And by the way, I didn't know Amo too made feed. That's where I got the Noilers. But I have never seen their feed anywhere before. I will lookout for their feed as from now on.

this noiler stuff sounds really interesting. however, the supplier over here sells them for 160 per bird. for that price, it seems better getting broilers instead.

Hope the heat source is enough. I had such room as urs to brood broilers but later discovered that the room doesn't retain heat I had to demarcate it.. Weldone, I will join noiler farming in the near future...
