Hi Zaynie,

Nice write-up. You obviously love to teach no doubt. Em..I am actually new in the teaching profession. I take JSS 1 - JSS 3 students and was wondering if there was any forum on Nairaland where teachers could connect, share experiences and ideas?

Your response would be most kind.

Thank you.
I need that group like hell. I love teaching though the pay is small but lecturing is still teaching...

@Zaynie,
Lovely write up. You took me back to the time I finished my NYSC and couldn't secure a job,so I had to start a teaching job to keep body and soul together. So many years ago.......
I taught English grammar in a typing school. The students were exasperating but I so enjoyed the experience of trying my best to impart knowledge. It was fun. I later taught at a private evening lesson school for final year secondary school students preparing for WAEC. It was an experience and I was given all kinds of nicknames.
Some of the mature students were up to all kinds of tricks but that is a story for another day.
For those accusing the OP of plagiarism, you have not been able to prove anything. Give us a definite link to the page you claimed she copied this write up from or please just keep quiet and exit this wonderful thread.
@OP,
Once again, thanks for this lovely, wonderful write up. I am following you from this minute. grin

I can relate with the restlessness part, I've got two nieces whose sole purpose is to ensure I go to bed at night totally drained. If this is how training kids looks like, I don't think I want to have kids except if science can provide a means of giving birth to pre teen kids of say 9-10 years grin

Really!!!!!!!!!!! shocked

Okay, I was at work all yesterday so defending myself was out of the way. I can't be bothered still.

Thanks to all who had my back, I really appreciate. wink
To those jobless entities that have mischief up their sleeves..... just find one spot in your room and sit there and think about your actions on my thread...
T....was it True?
H...was it helpful?
I.....was it inspiring?
N....was it necessary?
K.... was it kind? Defamation, false accusations.....not nice at all.
Now while you are in the thinking corner, think of the best way to apologize to Ms Zainab.

At first I was flattered.... then I was pissed.
If this popped up in the Literature section all these won't happen but because a teacher wrote so well, you got your knickers twisted.
I am not any kind of teacher, I am a one of kind kind of teacher.
I am a part time magician too.... I have skills that moms envy.... I go about with my magic dust and my magic wand....... I turn tears to giggles within seconds, I make kids fall in love with me. I make the naughty ones want to be on their best behaviour. I fill up an empty mind... I make them want to explore and discover..
Sometimes I am a super hero, a cape-less one, I swoop in and save the day, I do the unimaginable...
I am a one of a kind kind of teacher..... I'm sorry you didn't have one of me.

I don't usually insult insult people online, otherwise I know what I would have done considering the first sentence in your comment. But you'll meet your waterloo someday when you interfere in any discourse that is not your business, especially after you must have referred to an infuriated soul as ''half-caste''.

I wanted to ignore you but seeing you bask in your ignorance claiming to know it all was just the height. You didnt have proof that she plagiarized yet you were yarning kpaks, please take several seats back. I get involved in things i want to because people like you mess with the wrong people. Just imagine if this was literature section and you were spilling this unfounded thrash all over the thread, please get an actual education and stop being ignorant. Bye

@zaynie, you need not bother paying attention to nonentities who will always be confused when they come across anything but mediocrity.

Keep up the good work. This is what happens when one makes one's passion his profession. I'm also proud and happy to be a teacher and although I've had experience that spans across all the classes from pre-primary through secondary classes, I presently find joy and solace in handling the more mature SS students.

If only we can have teachers who love what they do, like you obviously do, at all levels, I believe Nigeria's Education will change positively.
Thumbs up!

@skarlett, everyone is entitled to their opinion, so there is no need to insult anyone. Even the OP @zaynie did not insult anyone, but you're the first to insult someone on this thread. I think the OP should even be happy that people think her work is so good, that it must have been plagiarised.

And no one should be surprised because there are many plagiarised contents on NL, even professional writers have been accused of plagiarism at some point or the other. Criticism is important in even literary work, so the OP should be grateful that not everyone is singing her praise same way. So, I hope you, skarlett are not more pained that who should be pained which is the OP.

Anyway, like the person above me rightly said, I also need to check Google.

Back from my Google journey. I can't believe people can sit down and cook up screenshots just to discredit a post. Haters really dey this world oo shocked

Normally Google won't use the whole post for the search query cos it's beyond the limit and Google won't show you large results from one page that's why it ends each site's result with the "..." (3 dots) so if you want to know more you enter the site. Looking at the screenshot zaynie's post came after the 3 dots. Her post was plenty for Google to show it in their result page, Google doesn't show as much write up as that on their search result page.

Nawao for tha guy wey post that screenshot.
Don't forget to check "your personal Google" to see if I copied this post from somewhere

And no its not the same person.

yetseyi:

Are you saying its only in foreign primary schools that we have a mulatto?
Is "Afro" not a word?
Is mom/mum not a word?
Is it that Nigerians don't use these words?

So what makes these words peculiar to just a foreign primary school or a foreigner?

yetseyi:

I am also not quarreling or arguing with you,I am really not interested in proving if her write up is real or not that is not my point. You made an assertion, I asked a question based on what you said, you mentioned three words and made it sound like Nigerians don't use those words.

The bolded has answered my questions, yeah certain dictions are not peculiar to us but not mullato, afro and mom especially afro and mullato which you specifically pointed out see your post below, yes the setting is not a typical Nigerian school but there are international Schools in Nigeria with that setting.Anyway, I do agree with you that the style does'nt look Nigerian but that does'nt mean a Nigerian cant write with that style.

As I was saying........

Dara is a chubby and dark girl with angelic face, a wide smile and awesome attitude. You can't help but fall in love with her. She is obviously spoilt rotten; being the last child and only daughter. She is the lazy one who is so neat-ey she doesn't like to stain her hands with food, paint or anything. You would find her rushing to the bathroom to wash her hands all the time. OCD much?

Koko is the baby of the class. Born to his mother in her 50s, she is pretty coocoo about him. Don't be surprised to catch her peeping into the classroom for good 30 minutes or watching us from the CCTV.... angry.
He has a separate bag for snacks.... as in school bag filled with snacks and then his main bag with his change of clothes. Come and see snacks na..... carrot bar, pear bar.... ask me how many will the boy eat? Nada!

IT is the eccentric one. She's on dreads and dresses bohemian. I firmly believe she always insists on picking her own clothes cos the dressing no be for here.
She has a problem with her speech but she is one of my highest flyers.
When she sights me in the morning, she drops whatever she is doing and runs to me.... screaming "Mejaina! " Always!
When someone hurts her, she comes looking for me even if a thousand teachers have already begged her.
When I offend her, she gives me the cold shoulder and isn't afraid of all my threats...... I just love that girl. kiss
And she always makes a mess of her food........very messy eater.

Deel has black Arab blood in him. Black and handsome in a way that will be heart mushing in future. But theres a hitch, he's a whiner....
Eat; he will whine. Write;whine..
He's beginning to shake out of it sha.....
When he wants me to help open his bottle and I insist on the magic word, he throws the "please" with a shrug or lip squeeze.... it's like " Oya take the please and eat it o! " cheesy

Trey is fair and very cool. He is always well behaved and all the girls in the class are after him. I just watch them in amazement as they fall over themselves to sit beside him during the circle time.
He likes Angie tho.

Angie is the love of Trey's life and Trey is her obsession!
"Mejaina, Trey is sad" "Mejaina, Trey don't wantu play with me" . And the way her eyes shoots darts when other people engage Trey Nko? I had enough of it and separated them but she always finds a way to wriggle her way to his side at lunch and play time. cheesy
Apart from that she is really sweet and started Mejaina.... she also loves sausages and when she opens her flask, she'll be like "Chochage! "

Nam is the new boy. He doesn't talk much but takes so much joy in pulling down all you hang.
Then I caught him talking to himself in really clear deep voice and I was like shocked.

Every class always has goons, ours is no exception.
I introduce to you Demi and Kiki..... 2 boys that are equivalent to 20 boys.
When they come in, they first hail and hug.
"Kiki!!!!!! " "Demi!!!! " they run to each other and hug, hold themselves and jump in circles.
From then on, it is Mejaina that will be chasing and grabbing them both by their hands. They and Mide are the Kings of our Thinking Corner.
Those 2 Ehn...... serious trouble. They will just start screaming for no solid reason and it will be interspersed by giggles....

Now you've met all 14.
The gist can flow easily now.
