Don't be daft. There is nowhere in the world LTE gives you 100Mbps! Last I checked the fastest average LTE speeds are circa 35 Mbps is south Korea. You can only get 100mbps with wired Internet
you obviously mean MB/s and not mbps. Retard.. you want to know the best part about this?? This was from MTN lte Nigeria.

UMI Iron is a nice phone. LTE Band 28 is one of the most uncommon bands, even among top devices, so you should be happy your phone supports it.

Bit I think the advantage Glo Has over others is the affordable data plan

With time u will see the full advantage of glo 4g. Etisalat is using d same band for both voice and data so there will be congestion as time goes on. Glo 4g band is strictly data so d blazing speed will be achieved for long even as more customers join
Re: Etisalat 4G LTE Network Now In Nigeria by Bossman(m): 8:01pm On Oct 08, 2016
GLO needs to deploy their LTE on one of the other common bands. Band 28 is not common at all. Most of the devices used in Nigeria will not even support that band 28.

Oh, i see, that's quite saddening. Brands like UMI would rather make new phones with the latest OS than update existing ones.

By the way, how did you know what bands your phone supports? I'm asking because a quick specs search indicates it only supports band 1, 3 and 7

Somehowp, don't be deceived by this speed. This is speed at launch and by the time 1 million people get on it it will drastically slow down. By the time they get like 20 million subscribers on the LTE don't be surprised the peak speed will be around 40mbps on average. This is wireless connection. The only time u can get this speed on steady is on a wired connection and u need to pay much for that. Average LTE speed in usa is around 15-20mbps and in Korea and Singapore that hsve some of the fastest LTE it is around 40-50mbps.

At launch Ntel gave us around 75mbps and that's just about 5 months ago. Now their average speed is around 30-45mbps and they don't even have 1/5th of the subscribers MTN have.

Exactly. To see the supported bands, I went into the Engineering Mode of the phone and selected the Band Mode option. The supported bands were checked while the others were greyed out.

GLO you see ur life
etisalat is using band 3 while mtn band 7 and 20
most 4g phone are compatible with it
you beta add another band to ur band
chose btw band 3 and 7

MTN was playing smart, Glo was playing Origin, Etisalt was playing bigboy, Airtel playing safe.

Lol. Airtel was the first network to introduce 3G network. Every airtel masts both in villages and in town transmit both 2G and 3G signal at all time. But that is not the case for Mtn, glo and etisalat. In short, I can say airtel has 100 percent 3G signal coverage, but for other network it is less than 60 percent

yeah you are right, i know about wired networks and i know about peak speeds and all, only wanted to clear his doubt, he made it seem impossible.. do you condone a situation where my 3G speed on Etisalat is actually higher than One on LTE, even though his network is just 2bars down?.. that was what i was condemning initially.. Etisalat just launched too and they can't even decieve us with Peak speed? I can ascertain for sure that the 4G these guys will give out in Nigeria would be an embarrassment to the Word 4G itself.. That was my initial reason.

Unfortunately 3G is already getting obsolete amd everyone is eager to migrate to 4G

You are right. Also the high band requirement means less users. Which is also a plus for anyone with a band 28 smartphone

I get u. I don't think etisalat 4g is official yet. Come to think of it, is it only me if it that etisalat have throttled their 3g speed ever since they started working on their 4g launch. I can't get more than 3mbps for close to 2 months now. Maybe it's my location, if tried it in 3 of different locations same thing. What speed are u currently getting? Same thing with MTN, their 3g speed hardly gets past 5mbps now, I normally get up to 17mbps before they started working on their 4g.

And MTN know what they are doing. They don't want to many people to jump on their 4g just yet. That's why they are not selling 4g ready sim cards. Imagine I went to their office to upgrade my sim and they said it's not registered in my name so they can't upgrade. I then asked them to sell me a new 4g ready sim card and they said I have to buy a normal sim card and use it for like 2 days, then come back to your upgrade it to 4g. U can imagine that. How many people have that much time? Why can't they sell 4g sim card cards without need to upgrade?

You are right though. Wish they can support a way more lower band like the band 7 just like Etisalat, it would av been an advantage to them coupled with the affordable data plan

whoah, and i get up to 12mbps on mtn and 18mbps on etisalat, but it's not exactly like it was fast like it used to before, but not that bad.. for me I actually even think the customer cares know little or nothing about this 4G thing.. i too also went to their office, i was told it wasn't yet out.. just ignored them cos I'd be traveling soon anyways.. i think the 4G thing is still in it's infancy so definitely hiccups from here and there would surely emerge.. just pray it's only temporal.. that's my initial fear..
