Glo 4G LTE Speed Test by souljaboi51(m): 8:28pm On Oct 07, 2016
Hello guys, so yesterday i swapped my glo sim yesterday for the new 4G sim. I paid N500 (100 for the sim and 400 credit) and i was told to wait till this morning to activate it because their system is down (shocker undecided ). I use a samsung galaxy s6 edge plus and i live in Ajah so i meet the requirement for having a 4G enabled phone that meets the networks band 28 (700) and also being present in one of the locations that 4G is live.

I activated the sim around 8:30 am and i bought the N500 (1.6 gb for 7 days) so i can test run it. I started by doing a speed test and it clocked 4.50 mbps (impressive) so i decided to watch four youtube videos and i must say it did not buffer one bit. i proceeded to instagram and snapchat and all the videos loaded very fast and i decided to do a 4th test which was to download using UC browser and that was when the problem started. I discovered that it was very very very slow and i looked at the signal and alas it was showing a tiny edge shocked shocked shocked . I thought it was supposed to be 4G. It clearly felt like a rip off or a scam and the i did another speed test which was an appalling 0.67 mbps. Through out the day it was showing the tiny edge and i did different tests at different times of the day (see picture) and i must say i am really disappointed. I just hope Glo is not selling dreams (never really a fan of glo as i use spectranet mifi).

I dont know if other people have a experience with this supposed 4G LTE. If you do kindly share your experience.

Again, read and understand. I clearly said my phone meets the requirement and ofcourse it was vetoed by the sales people before i got the sim. why its not showing 4G or LTE is the reason why this topic was created. if you handle clients every day and u you dont read to understand then im really ashamed and i feel sorry for the clients

You may have to force your phone to assume 4G LTE. Don't call it a scam just yet, because some phones assume the network type with best signal strength, hence why your phone hasn't shown 4GLTE.

Now, on your dial pad, dial *#*#4636#*#*, now go into Phone information, scroll down and select LTE Only.

By the way, which variant of S6 edge plus do you have? Just to be sure that it actually supports band 28.

I don't have to read anything your issue is not speed test....

You don't have 4G or LTE so what are you testing?

The topic should be "why is my phone not on 4G "

Your phone might not support the Band 28 that's all case closed...

Indeed, your device supports band 28. Maybe glo 4G just isn't available in your location.

AGAIN!!! READ AND UNDERSTAND. I clearly stated the phone I use and that it SUPPORTS band 28. Dude seriously if you don't have anything meaningful to say then please don't.

The first time I heard that Glo how have 4g I laughed cos their destiny is on an edge E network worst network ever..in fact who advise them to launch a 4g LTE network? This is a disaster! Let them just focus on their 3g and H+ then we'll discuss about 4g and LTE

i agree with you and OP obviously didn't put it on 4G only
Re: Glo 4G LTE Speed Test by Nobody: 9:29pm On Oct 08, 2016
Op u need to calm down. That ur phone supports 4g doesn't necessarily mean u will get 4g signal all the time especially at these early testing times. From ur screenshot it clearly shows u are on 3g (h+ is glorified 3g). And because Ajah is in the coverage area doesn't necessarily mean the signal will be available all the time, hence ur phone switching to 3g when 4g is not available. U are even lucky glo supports different network mode. Unlike ntel that is 4g only, whenever 4g is out of reach then u are stuck with a device without signal... Very frustrating. Nonetheless it is too early to call them scam, wait a full day if u don't get 4g signal then call them.

Another thing is some of these phones can be tricky with 4g LTE. A good example is galaxy s7 with ntel. Even though the s7 supports the bands used by ntel, they couldn't get ntel 4g to work on it until last month.

Oga.. don't just jump to comment blindly...

He claimed he met requirements....
Then he downloaded spead test to test H+ when it is obvious that the phone has not switched to 4G yet..

He claimed glo was scam.. that its just unfair , like he has not seen LTE on other users phone..

Op should be open to learn not jumping to conclusions

Nice one. Indeed G928F does not support band 28. Op is not a patient type and prefers to rant rather than find out why he couldn't get 4g.

you should probably listen to yourself and take your own advise. be open and dont jump to conclusions there by preventing unnecessary foolery. i dont know why im even arguing with you. you are yet to make a valid point and even your screen shot says it all. band 28 (700) is there but you are just embarrassing yourself. what other blind comment have you got?

Band 28 is for G928G and G928I

G928F doesn't support band 28 according to the screenshot

Calm down that your phone is Samsung S6 edge plus cost about 250k those not mean u automatically get band 28...

U still need to calm down and read carefully instead of ranting. The picture clearly says g928l and 928G support band 28 and not g928F. Even if it eventually supports it, its not enough to call them scam, at least not yet. U just might be in a region without 4g signal.

But as it is right now, the specs from gsmarena says ur phone doesnt support band 28. Now I guess we know who is blind.
