Why not omeruo at RB? I think he is more pacy than Balogun.

That is still another good option.

When you add leon Balogun.... We have two tall mighty towers... smiley

Ekong won almost every aerial battle... What a performance!!!!!!

Omeruo was also great minus that "mistake"

That is the thing about defence. One mistake can ruin everything. Omeruo was brilliant until that point. It was just one mistake but a very costly one.

Nna eh... Ikeme was unbeatable today save for that mbesuma goal.

He keeps making me forget the legend of Africa's Finest Goalkeeper in this era... Vincent Enyeama.

Ikeme is my goalkeeper in my online and offline Dream league soccer game in my free time.... (Didn't wanna get Enyeama sef) Looollll... He's so so so good and is top class indeed.

World class performance from Ikeme. Nigeria no dey lack keepers naa... Lie lie!!!!

zicky:
Thank you Enyeama for leaving, you serve Nigeria well. Carl Ikeme is a world class keeper, my Man of the match

What an amazing aerial performance from Ekong. My fear for long balls from the Zambians reduced with the way Ekong cleared off everything. His aerial presence is a big asset to the team. He made some nice interceptions and blocks.

Overall, he was tidy.
It's a shame bigger clubs have not come for him. He's a very good defender.

Musa Mohammed never faced this kind of opposition.

And u are leading Zambia 2-0 in Ndola and u dnt expect them to come all over you like a swam of bees?

I personally expected that kind of pressure on our defense in the second half. But for Omeruo's error, the boys coped well.

Well, I'm glad the mind games which I sense Rohr is playing worked. Ndidi was/is an experiment to me after I discovered that Rohr can't be that stupid.

Algerians will watch this game and try to exploit that angle, Musa Mohammed would be back I pray by then cos Slimani...., Mahrez. .....

Glad no goals came from Ndidi's mistakes though.

You're right on that Chidi Odiah stuff. we've been using makeshift, but Musa played that role@ u17 and won the title so I can reason his intor right into that position. Enough of makeshift defenders. He's our Bellerin; pace, strength, crosses!

Besides, Mweene the pitch dancer should go and retire.

The last Recognized Natural RB we had in the Super Eagles was Chidi Odiah.

Ambrose tried. He did creditably well but he was converted RB.

Ndidi started out as a CB in his early career. This could be y Rohr started him instead of Shehu Abdulahi(who i feel would have coped better) @ RB.

I once suggested Leon Balogun at RB but that suggestion didnt go down well with analysts here.

The truth is we dont have a RB in this team.
For the next game I would still suggest Balogun as the RB while Ekong and Omeruo play CB.
We have Mahrez and Slimani for our LB and RB to deal with in that game.

You think Musa is not ripe?

Compared to Ndidi's performance on the other flank.... Yes! Echiejile was okay but did have his few jittery moments with that Zambian no.10.

Ndidi's was a tale of two halves indeed... Rohr was really "daring" to have played Ndidi in AN AWAY GAME FROM THAT ROLE... MEHN!!!!

Your suggestion to have played him in a home game is true for the most parts. Anyway... Overall, Rohr's tactics paid off... smiley

tbaba1234:

Echiejiele was ok.. made one obvious error when he lost his man but ndidi was shaky all game.

Perhaps a home game would have been better to introduce Ndidi.

Ndidi started brilliantly. I was over the moon with his performance but then.. ...

He got tired and the Zambians took advantage of it. I lost count how many times he was skinned but I can hail his effort to fight back. He fought to help the team.

When it comes to his positioning, he was good. He was in position most times and helped the defence clear the ball.

He made some passes to the midfield and forward players that help build up play and won some aerial battles. Drop to Central defence when we were under pressure.

The coach might have something with Ndidi at right back but the qualifiers is too risky to play him there if he will cause the team problems.

D team is improving and progressing gradually.

Did any see d shot mikel took? mikel of old could have ballooned t up. Thats d essence of drills. The shooting drills has improved d over all ability of our team-no more wayward shots.

Can't wait to have Leon, Moses, Success and Ighalo back in d team.

Finally, We need to look out for better fullbacks. Ndidi(though played out of position) and Echiejile were too vulnerable and were easily beaten by pace. Lest we forget north african teams are pacey. Hope d coach looks into this.

Congratulations to all sport loving Nigerians. D unbeaten run continues.

I don't think Shehu is a flash in the pan. I argue, he would have performed better than Ndidi today but we need a natural right back.
Which we already have in Musa Mohammed, dunno why he didn't play today. Shehu doesn't have the pace of a RB. but he connects well. I Just need that pace for that RB spot and Musa en Ndidi have that above him. Mind you, I want a RB that can start an attack with pace thus my selection.

Onazi is showing growth and maturity. He was off position about two or three times. Apart from that, he was sound in his positioning. Ran a marathon in the midfield and did most of the dirty work to break down the Zambians.

Dropped to the defence to help the defence and won the possession with some interceptions.

Under the hot sun, the midfielder did not stop running.

He has a big role to play with Echiejile. Echiejile is an offensive left back and needs Onazi to let him know when he is off position. Like Omeruo, Onazi helped fill gaps.

I would not talk about his faulty passes. That pitch was unbelievably bad.

Even the one he was set up to score, that was rules offside, he missed and started blaming the ref for ruling offside.

Thanks Sir GoodJoe... My thoughts exactly. A tale of two halves it was for Ndidi...

The Zambians were always going to unleash Rainford Kalaba down our right... Rohr saw this and thought Musa may be skinned and may not cope thus he brought on Ndidi which was also a risk but a calculated one nonetheless. Rohr wanted a more physical battler at right back coz of Zambians' strength and stamina.

Musa Mohammed will still feature in this role as the qualifiers goes on but we must make decisions based on opponents.

Ahmed Musa's introduction also helped in pushing the Zambians back as the wave of pressure became too much.

It is not an issue of home game. It is about the nature of your opposition.

Just like you suggested, Omeruo can fill that RB position against Algeria. Musa Mohammed vs Slimani alternating with Mahrez? undecided
