Most condoms are made of latex. It is quite possible you ladies may have a latex allergy.
Do you also itch when you use latex gloves, either in the kitchen or surgical type gloves. Though i think your vjay may be a bit more sensitive than other outer parts of your skin and hands so the itching and reaction may not be as intense in other parts.

There are a few latex free options for people with allergies like that but i dont imagime the nigerian market caters for such.

I don't use gloves in the kitchen maybe that's why I never noticed. The scratching no be here, sometimes I even face the ac or fan so that breeze can touch it. Thanks dear.

The cream is dope, it gives a perfect skin texture to kids... I used it for 3 kids and still using it for my new born. It helps prevent all kinda skin diseases or infections.

When buying, buy the locally made ones from your hospital and not the foreign ones that they sell in the market cause that one doesn't work rather it makes babies sweat alot there by causing rashes.

So this is an open question to everyone: which is better, if you had choices, for birth and antenatal:

private
General hospital
Federal hospital

I used to think GH was better, because you have consultants there and yes, they don't pamper you, but I'd rather a safe baby than be pampered. And I've heard too many tales of how a private hospital, seeing you in trouble, refers you at the last minute to a GH.

Dexterush, since you're free today, go and see the thread in Family Section. The girl even posted on this thread last year and I think tried to join Pregnancy thread in August.

A new moniker opened a thread, saying she was pregnant, her toddler was starving, she was starving and too sick and had no money to go to antenatal, infact she just wanted to commit suicide. People started panicking and trying to attempt a rescue. Me, I suspected something and started checking her background. Sure enough, she had 2 old monikers.

Do you know this babe's mother sent her to SA to go to school, she got there and shacked up with some guy (whom may have been an illegal alien there) and he convinced her to start doing prostitution? She got pregnant for that one, people begged her mum to take her back to Nigeria, she got here, used her first moniker to be fighting her mum and blaming her for her predicament until everyone got angry and she retaliated with insults, instead of her to listen to their suggestions on how to care for herself and her son. She even wanted to return to the fellow. Meanwhile her mum provided her with nanny but she said she couldn't work because the nanny closes early and she's having morning sickness. (I sh.it you not). She didn't want to help her mum in her shop because "people will talk that she travelled and is back".

2nd moniker, new man. That one has remarried and lost 4 wives (yes, 4 wives!) and she shacked up. He bought her a tablet and put her in Beauty school (which she proceeded to quarrel with them and stop). All through these 2 years in Nigeria, this girl did not have a bank account and did not have the sense to get one, even as she had a small son. Then she got pregnant for man no2 and that one beat her and kicked her out. Instead of her to have looked for even a trade, she came to NL to try and do olosho work in her 1st month of pregnancy. Mum took her back but is angry.

She's now fighting her mother and instead of her to go and look for work, came to NL to threaten to kill herself if we didn't give her money. She thinks we all owe her something and our job is to provide freely. She didn't think to sell the tablet (she has a phone too) to raise small money for herself and her son and her new baby. She is still blaming her mother for her woes. It is everybody's fault but hers.

Abeg I dey hail una here and please, please I must discipline all my children. Kai!

I prefer GH based on my experience when i had my LO. I was using both private and GH for my ante natal.
Am happy for you o, Thank God for using ur mum to safe both of u.

Though, there are different types of Private Hospital. The PH in my area are full of auxiliary nurses and they will have to be calling Dr from FMC for emergency cases.

Federal Hospital all the way.

Private all the way. I can't stand their rude attitudes at Public hospitals. I also hate queues. I know private has shortcomings sha, but if i'm to go back and have my baby again, i'd go to private again.

Hi everyone I My 12months old daughter has refused to eat. In fact since 6 months, her weight gain has not been impressive.
I was feeding her mostly Gerber oats, cowandgate rice (blue pack) mixed with soybean, because she hated formula.
At 9 months, for 3 days straight she rejected her food. Took her to the hospital, when I saw the scale, I was shocked! Her weight was 6. 2kg.(At 4months she weighed 6ķg @ birth 3. 7)
Hmmm ran some test and every thing was fine her pcs etc.
Did scan tooo. Perfect.
I was told to start giving formula and pap (maize guinea corn nd millet) even if it's in small quality.
I was feeding her every 2hrs, also at night. It wasn't easy.
Now at almost 12months she's weighing 8. 5kg, since yesterday she has refused to eat her pap or any other food.
All she want is tiny plantain, Pringles B.Milk and fanta.
Pls I need advice and suggestions.
Going to d hospital 2 morrow to check her throat undecided

P. S don't know if it hereditary. I was a picky eater as a baby.
Pls 4give my typos

Dont worry and try not to stress. Persistence, patience and sometimes gentle /gradual withdrawal of breastfeeding is the answer.

I am of the opinion that if your baby is not yet getting the bulk of their meals from solids then you may just be wasting your time with stopping breastmilk. Especially if the are not taking formula at all.

Does he have a sippy cup? you can try that with water instead of a normal bottle. One of those ones that have a handle that he can hold easily by himself. Even using a cup at meal times or giving him formular in a cup may be successful.

What other foods have you offered him, i know you have asked for how to make the different paps using different grains.

And how have you tried to offer it to him? Only bottle type foods or using a plate and spoon.

Have you tried him feeding himself? If you give him bread, chips or fried yam for instance, does he collect it from you and eat it? Even if he plays with it. It eventually ends up in his mouth.

Please shed more light on his typical feeding routine in a day and i am sure you will get better advise and tips on how you may be able to tweek it.

Pele! The Lord is your strenght!

Modification:
Dont wait for him to be crying before you feed him.
Sometimes also try offering him other foods when he is not super hungry.

Deal with the day issues first and the night feeding later. If you are too stressed.

At night, dont let him enter full cry... as soon as you hear peem... put sippy cup in his mouth and pat him. Initially, Sometimes it will work. Sometimes it wont and you will have to breastfeed. .but in the end you will find that he wakes less and less and eventually ge will stop waking up.

If you end up breastfeeding at night. Try to remove the breast after a short while ( after he has appeared to calm down ) and just hold him and cuddle. You can try giving some water whilst cuddling as well.

Everything na trial and error..... but One must work!

At d bolded, that's where am worried cos he hasn't started eatin other foods. I ve been trying to let him have a taste of other family foods, but he always runs out wen Eva he sees food. People said its because he s still breastfeeding that's y he s rejecting food. Yet now that am stopin d bm, he s still not attracted to food.

I ll try d sippy cup method, but am guesin he ll reject it as usual.
Nnaa eeh, d cry no b here oo, had to succumb as I got scared
I pray we get ova this soon n he starts eating like other babies.
Thanks 4ur response

Ah. No, no, no, no. First mistake was bringing in the junk food: Pringles (salty), plantain chips (more salt and some really questionable hygiene) and Fanta (sugary). It's ruining her tastebuds. Please stop that immediately. If she likes plantain, fry dodo with egg and spring onions. Give her watermelon rather than Fanta, fry sweet and Irish potatoes and serve with fish and small stew. Start slowly and she will fight you o, but something will happen. Keep with the breastmilk for now and slowly be giving her adult milk (whole cream though).

I prefer GH based on my experience when i had my LO. I was using both private and GH for my ante natal. Fast forward to 41 weeks, i went for my AN at the private hosp, the gynea checked and said baby and mother are doing fine so i should go home as i still have one week to go before there is any cause for alarm.

My mum followed me that day, she did not even argue. She just told me 'oya let us go to MCC gbaja' .Off we went and when i was checked, the doc said he was not comfy with sounds from my belly or something so i should go for a scan. I went for the scan, took the result back to him, LO's estimated weight was 4.3kg shocked shocked shocked and was already getting weak. The Gynea there and then admitted me and i had already packed my box and put it in the boot. To cut the story short, i was induced very early the next day, i had a very short labour and i had an episiotomy as LO was so big. I almost gave up o, but i was resuscitated. LO was born looking all white and was not breathing, It was after she was tapped/slapped on the bum and her nose was suctioned that she cried out. I was so weak, but looking at my bundle of joy in My arms gave me so much joy that day.

So, that's my own take. For my next LO, i'll still do the same thing. Register at GH and private in case of any emergency.

This seems like a good idea, GH for backup.

Stadora, as a child I used to eat paper and eraser. And it was delicious! grin my point is, persistence is key: keep giving him in small quantities and don't stress it. Because they used to stress meals for me, I started eating the paper and eraser.

The plantain is dodo, while she struggles with her brother's "treats". she loves oranges
I have introduced potatoes and fish. She eats in bits like she's watching her weight. Indeed children differ cos her bro ate mostly pureed food.

Good day great mamas, please put me right, I have heard here that EBF lo can go days without poo. Even lo's doctor told me about it during her 1month appointment, but lo still poo consistently after feeding, i was so occupied with her immunization during 2months appointment that I forgot to ask dr. She is 9 weeks, on Ebf, growth chart is great.
Should I be worried with every feeding poo? Is it necessary calling dr.? Please help put FTM mind at ease. Thanks

Good evening mothers. Please apart from peak 123, what other milk can I offer a toddler of 1 year and 8 months?
Regular full cream milk will be just fine, unless you want to go for toddler specific milk there are so many others out there like peak 123.

Onegai weldone and thumbs up. Good job you did on that moji case. Will really like to see how it all turns out and I hope she buckles up.
