Arsenal: Alex Iwobi Proving He Can Match Kelechi Iheanacho by Josh Sippie2 days agoFollow @sippenator101 Pain in the Arsenal Arsenal are excited, and rightfully so, about the progress of Alex Iwobi. The young man is proving that he can match Kelechi Iheanacho’s early success. The race for the next big thing is alive and well in the Premier League and Arsenal, as always, has a foot in the race. Alex Iwobi, the Nigerian wonderboy and the foot I speak of, is only growing stronger and stronger with each passing day and many are saying he has overtaken Marcus Rashford in the race. We have to start looking ahead to where he can end up. How high is the ceiling on this young man, and is there a way we can actually gauge it? One way we can look at is we can compare him to his countryman and Manchester City’s foot in the ‘next big thing race’, Kelechi Iheanacho. Iheanacho has long been accepted as having all of the necessary components to succeed at this top tier of club football. You could even make the case that without Sergio Aguero, Manchester City would be just fine. Look how well they did with Aguero out with suspension. Iheanacho has nabbed two goals and three assists in just 185 minutes. That’s a very healthy goal production rate, but I didn’t need to tell you that. Iheanacho’s progress is quite plain to see. His quality is permeating and when it’s his chance, he will prove himself like he always has. Alex Iwobi, the same age as Iheanacho, can seemingly be judged based on how he compares to his countryman. Internationally, the signs are starting to pick up. Iwobi has been matching Iheanacho goal for goal in the Nigerian international side, and this is with the knowledge that Iwobi is more of a provider where as Iheanacho is a scorer. It reflects in their club stats. Iheanacho has accumulated 11 goals and four assists. Iwobi has nabbed two goals and five assists. They’ve played a similar amount of time. All signs point to these two being on the same technical level. They are combining wonderfully at the international side, so why not believe that they are on the same club level? Iheanacho has had a system that is more conducive towards his piling on the hard statistics. Give Iwobi some more time to ingratiate himself within the Arsenal system and he can maximize his potential just like Iheanacho has. At just 20 years old, the ceiling is massively high on this young man, just as high as it is with Kelechi Iheanacho. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Iheanacho played out of position at Manchester City, says Taye Academy's Ezenwere By Tomiwa Babalola Goal.com Kennedy Ezenwere has told Manchester City that they are playing Kelechi Iheanacho out of position, claiming the Nigerian international performs better as a second striker. The Taye Academy handler said Iheanacho is also comfortable in the attacking midfield role, or on the flanks being a natural left footer. “Kelechi is best utilised as a support striker,” Ezenwere told Manchestereveningnews “He can play as an attacking midfielder, and also play from the flanks. He is a natural left footer so can play from inside left.” “He is good in taking free kicks,” he said. “It is 100 percent possible that he will score against Algeria. “When he was in my team, almost all the competitions we participated he came out as highest goalscorer. “Kelechi will tell me I will score two goals in this match and he always delivers. That’s a natural gift." 2 Likes |

ChrisKels: No body here is pleased with the situation at the RB and we have all agreed that the lasting solution is to scout for and groom natural RBs. However, for the Algeria game we may still have a make shift RB. Whoever Rorh wants to invite before or after the Algeria game, be it Mohammed, Brain, Tyronne, Odubanjo, Asoro, Maja, Osede, Lazarus, Sincere, Ekpolo, it is up to him. My own is we dnt want to see a "green horn" at RB against Algeria. One of our CBs preferably Omeruo would be more suitable. cc: forgiveness |

goldfish80: It can happen and it has happened. However, the rate at which the Brazilian league churns out talents is higher than us. It is not that we do not have talents who can not perform in these top clubs. I never doubt that and believe we have the talents. Grooming is another thing. Top teams in Europe spend a lot of money to groom their talents. That is why it is easier for a player from countries that invest to produce higher amount of top talent. If a talent like Mfon Udoh started as a three year old at Arsenal academy or Ajax, it is hard for such a player not to become top quality at 19 or 20. |

TheSuperNerd:If ot for Iwobi, I doubt Ozil, or any other European footballer would ever admit they styled their game after an African, or even loved watching an African star when they were kids. till date only Ronaldinho has admitted and it was in an interview on how he came to play the way he was then. 13 slots of Europe for WV should be reduced to 8. or even 5 from each continent, then we'll know how world football really is. |

Rohr should not gamble with his choice of players at RB and LB. I strongly aver that he go with experienced and tested players against Algeria not green horn because this is not the right time to gamble or experiment. For the right back position, he should choose between the Trio of Omeruo, Onazi or Balogun. Onazi fared well in that position in Afcon 2013 under coach Keshi against the Zambian when Ambrose was suspended. We all know the ability of Leon at Right back but his partnership with Ekong is just too perfect to be disrupted. Omeruo can cope with his versatility, pace, tackle and strength. So either Onazi or Omeruo should start at Right Back. At the Left back, Echiejele can do the job. Which Amuzie , we all saw how he was exposed constantly in the just concluded Olympics. Why gamble with such a player with the fire power of the Algerians?? . Will the Algerians sit back and allow us play just because we are host?, hell no. They will hit us with all they have got. Does Taiwo Taiye play competitive football? Let's move ahead joor. I would love to see more of Esiti in midfield. Iwobi can wreck more havoc if he plays from the midfield so also Ahmed Musa if he plays as the arrow head. 1 Like |

Are u saying that if yu get the right promotion at ur job u would pack it up and start partying? Do u lack ambition? I for one don't and so i know all Africans don't either. 2 Likes |

Daninya11: Onazi last played as a RB 3 years ago, this is 2016 incase the date in your phone isn't correct. And with the kind of misplaced passes he recorded against Zambia, we are going to concede from his poor passes. A defensive midfielder only needs to be able to chase the ball, but a RB needs to be able to pass well and sadly Onazi isn't up for that. Yes, Taye Taiwo plays competitive football and guess what? Echejile doesn't. He is a bench warmer for Standard Liege which is in which country anyways? Taiwo plays for Kemi Passa or so in the finnish league and is their top scorer, with Taiwo we get two things, a left back and a dead ball specialist. So yes Taiwo is still a better option than Echejile atleast and I have never mentioned Amuzie anyways. Yes, we can both agree on your last point. For me, Esiti starts ahead of Onazi. The Algerians are going to approach the game technically unlike the Zambians that came with physical strength and that suited Onazi's game. The Algerians will work with passes, not direct runs and it requires a midfielder who can position himself well, Onazi can't do this, he relies more on his pace and ability to chase down opponents, Mikel can do it well but our coach won't want to play him there so for me, Esiti is okay. He has long legs which he can extend to intercept passes and his passing range is okay |

Daninya11: Correct! I would rather love to see a continuation of Onazi and Mikel partnership at the midfield. Ekong-Balogun partnership, I cannot say is a perfect one yet cos that Tanzania game was the first they played together as CBs and we know they were not much tested. One of the reasons why i would want Omeruo at RB is bc the ghost of that Zambia error may still be hunting him. He might get jittery. Also i have seen Omeruo at RB before, under Keshi.I'v forgotten the game or competition though.I recall he did nt disappoint. Let us use the Algeria game to test Ekong-Balogun partnership to see if this is what we can bank on. |

This man knows a thing or two about politics. Rorh Backs Super Falcons To Win AWCON, Vows To Attend George Obi Complete Sports Nigeria | 12 Oct 2016 Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has advised players of the Super Falcons to "have fun but be serious" ahead of their defence of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month. Rohr declared on Tuesday that the Super Falcons can become the champions of Africa for the eighth time in Cameroon, where the 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 November to 13 December. "You must have a good team spirit because it is very important to not just play together but bond together and have fun in training and in the camp as well," Rohr said in a Nigeria Football Federation release on Wednesday. He visited the Nigerian senion women's national team at their training ground in Abuja. "To have fun but to be very serious. It is what we do in the Super Eagles team. We have the family spirit of oneness and togetherness. Not just like a team but to live like a family. With this, you can become champions again. And I am going to be in Cameroon to support you.
