Yes toluxa1 is right. In nigeria things are done differently.

For example there has been a rise in price of BTC Internationally but a drastic fall in price locally. In nigeria, bitcoin hasnt really come into play as a well needed legal tender aside the need by those so called MMM, Bitcoin doublers and all.

You hardly see nigerians using bitcoin to trade and all. Sadly, some of the so called african heroic bitcoins exchangers - likes of BitX and even NairaEx are not helping matters.

Am not suprise, i have learnt that its only in nigeria that economics laws are bull crap. Laws of demand is opposite and so also is supply.

I honestly do wish several nigerians can trade bitcoins internationally. It did be a good start for us all. I am so certain of this because of our so well grilled hoardling mentality can be a plus

Yes! Prices on BitX SA are also quoted in ZAR where I actively trade my bitcoins if I need Rand or move to Nairaland for Naira. I observed BTC was well over bought in Nigeria in the last 2 weeks and probably the price is being corrected automatically to adjust back to 510 to 520/$. As for the law of demand and supply, what we are seeing now is distribution of the btc that was accumulated over the past 2 weeks, that is why we have more sellers (RED) than buyers (GREEN) on bitx and even on Nairaland.
Maybe this recession will also help many of us to start looking at this trading to convert this worthless Naira to something good...

Oh yes, my bad. It came out of my head cos of what I was thinking. Thank God I didn't even type DDoS attack.
But even if it's an attack, Blockchain won't post so fast on twitter, "issue" will be a more subtle word to use to prevent panic. Personally I have been noticed some irregular behavior in the site about an hour before it went offline. There was a time I typed blockchain.info and I was directed to another phishing website. When when I reloaded it, it opened correct. Secondly I was trying to send $100 to someone and it was giving a particular error message, the next button wasn't working. And lastly I was trying to activate my 2FA but it just kept loading and loading. A site like blockchain definitely comes under daily attack, I'm sure they'll rectify whatever it is soon sha.

Sir although you are well experienced in this field
But i can tell you mathematically that you are wrong

As a seller you cant just come and say " i have $500 Btc for sale at 520naira" as a seller you have to specify the parallel dollar rate you want to use to sell your btc so the buyer can know the exact value of btc he is paying for.

If you go by saying you dont have a parallel dollar rate and that is the buyers concern, then you would agree with me that if the buyer calculates your btc at a parallel dollsr rate of 500, then you are obliged to agree to sell to him, which will be a big loss to you.

Bottomline is as a seller you must state your dollar rate, naira rate

Google rate could be lesser or higher dan blockchains rate, and if u leave d power in the hands of d buyer, den he will choose the lesser rate which will be a loss for u

It is suffice for us to say shocker007 is very correct

Hmmm, na wa o, e be like say you sef na Yankee you dey. Na Yankee people dis tin dey confuse pass.

Ask yourself, have you seen any of the local Nigerian exchange sites, naira4dollar, nairaex, Etradexchange, truexgold, instantgold etc etc stating the btc/$?

People here buy bitcoin in dollars not in btc (0.0xxx).

You don't go to naira4dollar and enter that you want to buy 0.238005 bitcoin. You state how many dollar worth of Bitcoin you want to buy and the naira/$ rate is what is on the site. That's how it is generally done in Nigeria.

The varying rates of different wallets is even a totally different thing all together that applies everywhere in the world. If you're in China and you use Blockchain and you're Bitcoin from someone in Russia using Localbitcoins, the variation in the rate being used by the two different wallets will apply and people are used to that already. You never get an exact value. Most bitcoin users are on blockchain and that's one of the reasons they have a lower rate. If you send from a waller with a higher rate to a wallet with a lower rate, obviously you receive lower amount in dollars.

Cheers.

Currently the US military is looking at using part of Blockchain's technology to secure their nukes. Alot of banks are also looking at incorporating it into their system. The system is one massively smart program hence the daily attacks they get. Some people even hack just to see how secure it is. While of course the criminals are looking for millions of bitcoin to steal.

Lol sir i am a nigerian
Well you are correct but i am just being skepitical

Despite the fact that you dont type 0.52155blah blah bitcoin on naira4dollar, we all know the fact remains the same that on the buyers end what he is expecting is 0.542658bitcoin

Now lets go into mathematics.

You toluxa wanna sell btc of $200 For 520naira/$, and the parallel worth of btc for that day was "1btc = $613" normally if you sold this your $200 Worth of btc to Me, at that parallel rate, it means i would pay you 104,000 naira and you are to send me 0.32626btc abi.

Now lets assume unfortunately, you did not sell it that day, and you decided to advertise it the next day, and the parallel rate has increased to "1btc = 650"
Now if i was intrested in buying it, and you failed to acknowledge the new increament in the parallel btc rate which has rose from 613 to 650.

Normally i was supposed to pay you "wait holup holup holup" lol wow this is amazing. I just noticed something now while doing the rough estimation on a sheet of paper.
I noticed even if the parallel price increased to even 1btc=$650, i, the buyer will still be paying you 104,000naira for the $200 Worth of btc.

Wow this is suprising.
Okay boss i think you have been correct all along.
I guess at some point the parallel rate is irrelevant.

But chill let us not forget the fact that
At parallel rate of $613, You will be sending 0.32626btc into the wallet of the buyer.
But at parallel rate of $650, you will be sending 0.307692btc into the wallet of the buyer.

Now lets recall that this decimal figures are very very important because that is what will turn 0.something something btc to a whole number of btc at the end of the day.

So we cant just assume that parallel rate is inconsequential.

With my example above, You would realise that The buyer who bought at the parallel rate of $630 Would quickly reach a whole figure of BTC faster than the buyer who bought at the parallel rate of $650.

Unless of course the decimals are not important in the world of bitcoin.

Now i would have laid another emphasis but i dont want ppl to insult me that my story is too much.

I tried to calculate with an instance whereby a seller wants to sell a whole round figure of BTC.
I realised that in this case, the parallel rate is very very important.

But well what do i know.
I doff hat for all of una oooooo.

Bro I can relate with what you are saying. The exact amount of Btc does matter when buying/selling because there is no guarantee that the per $ value of Btc is thesame on the wallet of the buyer and seller especially if they are not on thesame platform.

People should remember here that we are buying/selling Btc and not dollar.

If I want to invest in a portfolio that requires 0.05Btc, I have to go buy 0.05Btc from somewhere and not the $ value of 0.05Btc this because between d time I post my buy request n when the deal actually happens the $ value of 0.05 Btc maybe more or less.

For simplicity sake we just quote in dollars because that is what people can easily relate with.

Re: ➜ ➜ ➜Currency/E-currency Market Deals➜ ➜ ➜ by didymario7(m): 6:29pm On Oct 12, 2016
To add This- I think the source of the confusion is payment services such as PayPal, Skrill, perfect money etc. Because we are used to saying things like $500 Skrill available N450, $200 PayPal @ N420 etc we just switched to saying $500 Btc available N510. Lol!

This is wrong because while PayPal et all are payment services for currencies, Btc is actually a currency and not a payment service.

One good example is if I want to buy dollar (a currency) with my Naira (a currency). My buy request will read something like- "I want to buy $500", then different sellers will quote different rate. One will say my rate is N410 while another will say my rate is N420. Similarly if we want to buy 0.05bitcoin (a currency) with dollar/Naira (a currency) our buy request should be "I want 0.05Btc". The sellers should be quoting their respective dollar/Naira per Btc such as I sell @ $613 per Btc or I sell @ $620 per Btc or I sell @ X Naira per Btc (which is not convenient because of the double conversion involved).

While I admit I am guilty of selling it the wrong way eniolaamoda is correct in pointing this out. So that tomorrow if you decide u want to sell in the international market u don't start exposing your ignorance. Lol!
