Regular full cream like Nido, Loya and co right? Ok thanks a lot ma'am. I feel she doesn't need toddler specific milk anymore.
Exactly! You are welcome.

The cream is dope, it gives a perfect skin texture to kids... I used it for 3 kids and still using it for my new born. It helps prevent all kinda skin diseases or infections.

When buying, buy the locally made ones from your hospital and not the foreign ones that they sell in the market cause that one doesn't work rather it makes babies sweat alot there by causing rashes.

Onegai... Thanks for keeping the thread alive

Good day great mamas, please put me right, I have heard here that EBF lo can go days without poo. Even lo's doctor told me about it during her 1month appointment, but lo still poo consistently after feeding, i was so occupied with her immunization during 2months appointment that I forgot to ask dr. She is 9 weeks, on Ebf, growth chart is great.
Should I be worried with every feeding poo? Is it necessary calling dr.? Please help put FTM mind at ease. Thanks

If her growth chart is doing good. I dont think there is any need to worry.

Her system will continually adjust and change quite frequently over time. As her sysytem gets better at absorbing the nutrients from BM her pooing will reduce.

The first time she doesnt poo for a whole day, you will start wondering why, and if she is ok.... grin grin grin

Hi everyone I My 12months old daughter has refused to eat. In fact since 6 months, her weight gain has not been impressive.
I was feeding her mostly Gerber oats, cowandgate rice (blue pack) mixed with soybean, because she hated formula.
At 9 months, for 3 days straight she rejected her food. Took her to the hospital, when I saw the scale, I was shocked! Her weight was 6. 2kg.(At 4months she weighed 6ķg @ birth 3. 7)
Hmmm ran some test and every thing was fine her pcs etc.
Did scan tooo. Perfect.
I was told to start giving formula and pap (maize guinea corn nd millet) even if it's in small quality.
I was feeding her every 2hrs, also at night. It wasn't easy.
Now at almost 12months she's weighing 8. 5kg, since yesterday she has refused to eat her pap or any other food.
All she want is tiny plantain, Pringles B.Milk and fanta.
Pls I need advice and suggestions.
Going to d hospital 2 morrow to check her throat undecided

P. S don't know if it hereditary. I was a picky eater as a baby.
Pls 4give my typos

First thing to consider is that she may just be smallish in stature, and for people like that e no get as you wan feed them reach, them no go fat!

I may be wrong so please mamas in the house abeg correct me if i am oh. But It seems in naija, there is so much emphasis on cereals as weaning foods.? Things that can be mixed with milk? Fed with a bottle as well. All in pap-like consistency.

Perhaps that may be the issue with our style of weaning that a variety of tastes are not introduced early enough?

All cereals kinda taste alike, rather bland and milky except when you add banana, or apple or another fruit.

My dd started eating beans at 6 months, in fact it was one of the first foods she had along with purreed fruits mangoes, banana, avocado and sweet vegs, like carrot, pasnips, sweet potoato and plantain.

After the first beans her poo contained all the skins....very nasty to clean up! grin so we modified it and i press it through a seive to remove the skins and we have no issues.

By 8 months we were doing amala and blended okra soup( no oil, just okra, crayfish and some mashed fish) in fact it is one of her favorite foods. I can add anything to okra and she will eat it....lol!

I didnt start finger foods till like 8 or 9 months because i no get power to clean but we don become champion, infact she will grab biscuit from your own mouth if you are not careful. grin

I had avoided rice till now, but she happily ate jollof and moi-moi, and looked at me as if i had been depriving her all this while. I only stoped because it was a bit spicy.... the silly girl will cry, scratch nose, cough and after you give her water..... she will still open her mouth for more! shocked shocked

Infact now we are struggling with our morning cereal as she is kinda refusing that, so i have had to modify and give her other stuff, including fried rice for breakfast... i kent shout mehn!

Also i offered formular after we had established like 3 meals a day, only 1 being cereal and she accepted it no qualms, i guess in her mind it was just another food, and she didnt realise it would be the extingusher of her breastfeeding. grin

Does anyone have this same experience or is my dd just a one off?
Lets discuss, as it will be good to know where the issues are and how we can make weaning a better experience for mothers.

At d bolded, that's where am worried cos he hasn't started eatin other foods. I ve been trying to let him have a taste of other family foods, but he always runs out wen Eva he sees food. People said its because he s still breastfeeding that's y he s rejecting food. Yet now that am stopin d bm, he s still not attracted to food.

I ll try d sippy cup method, but am guesin he ll reject it as usual.
Nnaa eeh, d cry no b here oo, had to succumb as I got scared
I pray we get ova this soon n he starts eating like other babies.
Thanks 4ur response

Ma'am,

I thought to comment cos I have been in this same state.

Lo is super picky when it comes to food ( accepted only pap and BM till he clocked 1)but I kept trying in bits, he will even be turning his head side ways that he doesn't want ( can be super tiring/frustrating, arghhhhh)

I then left him and tried what I have been hearing here from the professors (Onegai and Alphahandmaiden).

I serve our food( DH and I) Lo comes and i noticed when I try to give him small sef, he turns his head and wants to take the cutlery.

I decided to give him cutlery and I had my way to feed him , he accepted and since then tried feeding himself. To say I was happy is an understatement.

Since then ehn, na to give him same type of cutlery we are using but in plastics( don't be using spoon and give him fork also, sometimes he doesn't gree for the plastics) and he eats wella.

He likes his food colorful and successfully feeds himself gradually( takes jollof spag, jollof rice, garnished indomie without the spice( with them vegetables), garnished rice sef) but plain spag, plain rice nah.

Beans is a plus too

For fruits, we are improving ( takes apple, pineapple and tangerine).

I want him to eat well then stop BM more so to perfect his gallant steps.

Hope this helps.

Me, I use only peak milk with his pap, shebi that's good mamas. Ehn hen, I introduced lucozade boost and ribena every other day( good or not)

Dr. Said her chart is good so far, was 7.5ibs at birth, lost 9% by 3days old, now 10.9ibs at 2months.

I have been looking forward to that day o; I guess I will call for a party o, since I see it as a mile stone o. grin

Thanks for being there always, blessings

I actually woke up very early this morning to call her. When she first started the thread, once I figured out her old moniker, I started reading. I'm upset for her, because I was once this girl: constantly making poor decisions and in my own case, I blamed God.

Respect ma'am. I doff my hat for both your investigative skills and your escape from the bad decision cycle

Good morning beautiful mothers and handsome fathers of great kids, finally caught up with this thread. I want to specially thank you yes "me" reading this for keeping this thread alive gracias.
Concerning weaning kids with my first lo I weaned him with just water(whenever he wakes up I give him water and he sleeps off,I guess I was lucky it worked for me but hubby never believed it will work,he wanted me to do the tea, juice thing naaaa),as for feeding in all sincerety I never bought a tin of any cereal for him,his meals where basically pap with formula, family meals with few twerks and we were just fine,he will be 4yrs by Nov 4th.Today will be the first time he will take cornflakes(dh bought it yesterday after he complained I don't give his children oyibo food lol) I hope he likes it.
For pp weight loss we cannot do everything but we can do something, personally am not a gym rat so I do home workouts. You can do skipping(jumping rope) with weighted jump rope(if you can get it its good if not use normal one) I use personalised one(money must be saved) old electric wire not in use,I walk at least 15mins somedays(indoor-walking to and fro of a long corridor, leslie sansone walk at home or outdoors),for arm exercise I use personalised dumbells(get two empty eva big water bottle, fill with sand and cover each should weigh 2kg or more depending on the type of sand, then two small fanta bottles filled with same sand for a smaller one(though I don't use it).
This is the almighty of them all portion control,if you exercise and you dont eat clean the weights will never fall off so in summary eat clean train mean. Good morning.

Good morning everyone.

Concerning Weaning, I started with Heinz cereals and fruit puree. Then my aunt gave Baby E fried chicken and jollof rice and whilst I was panicking, that one had discovered Heaven smiley. She loved Garden eggs and you know those peppered grilled fish? She would eat it and be sweating, but still continued. I mentioned a while back on this thread that we should pattern our weaning more like Indians and Asians, they give their children their local foods and spices to eat. Right now, all those cereals are bland and sweet, which is what Western style cooking tastes like. So, I'm sure plain boiled beans is nice, rice and stew with fish or meat too. Ogbono and Okra soup is nice, because babies like that draw-y, mucous texture. I even added small dried fish and fresh fish to her soup.

That's it. They sleep through out the night once they are weaned. That has been my experience. Congrats jare! Now you can enjoy your sleep.
As for that Moji girl, I don't think people like that learn. May be when she's old that's if the cycle doesn't continue with her kids. For Benin, girls like her full dey throwe.
Onegai, keep up the good work. If she's willing, she may be redeemed.

Don't hail me too much o, Soonest and Comtem2011 and co, if the people who were tough on me were closer to me physically, it would have been better.

When I found out I was having a girl, I cried. Because I didn't know if I could protect her. I wanted a boy first so he and I could protect her. One of my BiLs used to actively pray against having girls (he's a doctor and he would just see red about what he saw women pass through or do to themselves).
