If ot for Iwobi, I doubt Ozil, or any other European footballer would ever admit they styled their game after an African, or even loved watching an African star when they were kids.

till date only Ronaldinho has admitted and it was in an interview on how he came to play the way he was then.

13 slots of Europe for WV should be reduced to 8. or even 5 from each continent, then we'll know how world football really is.

Since the olympics Mikel has been walking on water. I don't care if he gets a second for chelsea to me he is still our captain and the only one capable of leading this youthfull setup that we have.

Rorh Backs Super Falcons To Win AWCON, Vows To Attend

George Obi

Complete Sports Nigeria | 12 Oct 2016

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has advised players of the Super Falcons to "have fun but be serious" ahead of their defence of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month.

Rohr declared on Tuesday that the Super Falcons can become the champions of Africa for the eighth time in Cameroon, where the 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 November to 13 December.

"You must have a good team spirit because it is very important to not just play together but bond together and have fun in training and in the camp as well," Rohr said in a Nigeria Football Federation release on Wednesday. He visited the Nigerian senion women's national team at their training ground in Abuja.

"To have fun but to be very serious. It is what we do in the Super Eagles team. We have the family spirit of oneness and togetherness. Not just like a team but to live like a family. With this, you can become champions again. And I am going to be in Cameroon to support you.

"I see some girls here today but I know that professionals will join them very soon. Very good players, some of them play in big countries like USA, Sweden, France. The other teams in Nigeria group don't have many of such players I think. So, it's a good team and you also have experience."

Nigeria are in Group B with Mali, Kenya and eternal rivals Ghana.

Yobo's performance dropped but Mikel is even getting better. He is more influencial than ever on the pitch. He leads by example, he has had the most shots on target in the last 2 matches. I mean did u see that last gasp, goal saving, award winning, OMG tackle that Mikel made against Zambia?

You think I didn't think of that? Loolll

It's no guarantee for that to work in a 4-2-3-1, the no.10 in the 4-2-3-1 does much more than being the passer. Depending on the various kinds of AMF to execute that role behind the striker, "passer" won't be his sole portfolio.

Such a "10" will also constantly move into the space quickly created by the no.9 or most-times roam from the left AMF (LMF) thru the central AMF and to the right AMF (RMF) position.

The two midfielders behind the no.10 in a 4-2-3-1 are usually the "distributor/passer" and the "marker/blocker".

Based on our team make-up, there's no way Mikel is the runner when his role in the CMF position is primarily to pass and organise play.

If the no.10 is "just the passer" then you're saying Mikel should be the runner and Onazi the blocker/marker or Onazi the runner and Mikel the blocker/marker...

In a 4-3-3, where you use two actual CMFs and a DMF, the passer-Runner-Blocker/marker gets fully applied not in a 4-2-3-1.

Mickael2:

what he said can still make sense in a 4-2-3-1. The 'marker' and the 'runner' will be positioned as the double pivot, obviously the runner will be the one who will move further up the pitch to intercept passes when the opponents are still in their half while also being able to come back and cover as the second DMF when we lose possession. The passer can be the person behind the striker which is still the AMF, while Iwobi and Moses will still occupy the flanks. Infact a passer, a marker and a runner can work in almost every formation except a rigid 4-2-4 formation, the only thing he did is that he replaced Ideye with Esiti unlike the like for like replacement i mentioned.

And if you consider this, it makes sense, somebody duly mentioned that when Onazi pushed forward he was able to intercept passes further up the pitch, something Mikel wasn't able to do for a long time, so let's play to Onazi's strength, he loves to run, let him cover more ground, once he intercepts the passes then Mikel(who is the passer) and any of the LMF or RMF(depending on the position of the play) can immediately come and take the ball from his feet, in this way he won't have to misplace too many long balls. It will get him into shooting positions too and maybe, just maybe he will injure Bentelab or whoever is their DMF like he injured Babatunde or better still, score a cracker. This works for me

WE PLAY WITHOUT FEAR NOW, SUPER
EAGLES STARS SPEAK ON ROHR’S MAN
MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Three players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria have in separate chats confirmed to
Owngoalnigeria.com that, Gernot Rohr has made a positive impact on their mentality when it comes to games.

One of the players said unlike past coaches of the team, the German coach gives them lot of confidence when it comes to games, and usually advised them to enjoy themselves on the pitch.

”He talks to every player. He doesn’t discriminate, to him every player is the same but the last two coaches of the team were not like that” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Another player said, he doesn’t give too much
instructions on the pitch, which has allowed the
players the freedom to express themselves
properly during games.

”One of our former coach, doesn’t stop talking
from the start of the game till the end he is
talking. It confuses us a lot but Rohr is not like
that, he give us the freedom to play our game bar little corrections”.

Funny and strict when he has to, was the
sentence one of the players we talked to use in
describing the German handler.

”You can’t have a friendly chat with him without laughing, he is very funny but strict when it comes to passing on team instructions”.

Brazil has a system that works-Nigeria does not have one yet.
Football is their way of Life.#Facts.

But since 2013, Nigeria has produced more talented young players than they've done.
You made mention that they are on the rise once again(citing their olympic gold achievement)... Okay!!! so we are. But don't forget Brazil's past achievement paved way for them. They still struggled on their way to olympic glory despite all the stars they got.

Imagine what could have happened if our own young stars(M. Mohammed, Iwobi, success, Nacho,s. moses etc...) were released by their clubs for d games just has d brazillians got theirs. Maybe t could have been Neymar's turn to cry.(E STILL DE PAIN ME SAY D WORLD COULDN'T SEE ONE OF THE BEST ASSEMBLED YOUNG TEAM play @ the olympics)

You can not say you are sure we have produced more talented players because their league gets this boys playing at a high level in a short time. That is all I am saying.

If Nigeria has a solid league, we will be able to groom talents better.

I think we need to have an under 17 league with mandatory MRI tests.. The results will be outstanding..

One of the most innovative ideas I have ever read in football. Bros, you are the bomb. I hope we keep that in mind and hope we have something like that in future. Although the MRI is expensive but the idea is amazing. We need to do more for our grassroot football and our league.

You're right Sir GoodJoe...... We need to really keep the pool running deep.

We can organise matches for them or hustle for invitations to youth tournaments that they can always compete in against top oppositions.

So much can be done to fill in the year gap that 2017 will give our football at the cadet and youth levels before we start putting together the next set of U-17s and U-20s by early 2018.

We also have Ovie Ejaria who I'm sure will be ours after featuring for England's youth sides grin

We won't lose all the quality English foreign-borns to England. That I assure you. wink

Several will still be lost but the few we do get will be "added bliss" smiley

EXCLUSIVE: MAN CITY SET TO EXTEND
NWAKALI’S STAY AT THE ETIHAD FOLLOWING
FINE FORM FOR LOAN SIDE

According to reports exclusively gathered by
Owngoalnigeria.com, Chidiebere Nwakali is set for a contract extension at English Premier League side Manchester City following his fine
performances for his loan side.

Since joining Manchester City in 2014 alongside
Kelechi Iheanacho he has struggled to make a
proper impact, with failed loan spells at Malaga
and Girona in Spain, where he failed to make a
single appearance for the team.

However Nwakali is finally making his mark in
Europe after a slow start to his career, as he is
has been one of the top performers for his loan
side Start.

The 19 year old has made 22 appearances for
Start, who are struggling to beat the drop to the
second division in Norway, but he is still by far
one of their best players in the team and the
league at large with three goals to his name from his midfield role.

Manchester City have seen enough to hand him
an extension to avoid losing him on a free with his current deal having less than 18 months to run, He will however head out on another loan spell when his current loan deal with IK Start runs out.

Looollll...... I get you okay. Just that Mikel is our midfield linchpin right now.

His replacement?? Truth is there's none truly. What we have are "manageables".

Mikel's true replacements are still young and maturing... The likes of Kelechi Nwakali and Ovie Ejaria, and a few others.

But I get you, the only way to play without Mikel is to play a style and formation that hides his absence.

Mikel is a general in that mid field. Whenever he's substituted in a game, the mid field collapses and there's no replacement for him now. The only player that can take his shoe would be Young K. Nwakali. But he need to be groomed up and expose, thank God Mikel will retire at the age of 35. BTW, Has Nwakali been loaned by Arsenal?
