geojay:Before u apply for your mum,I hope u got your visa for childbirth or atleast u have used it for the purpose it was issued if u didnt got it for childbirth. If not, better travel to the US first before she apply. because, i guess i have read here of one family or so that wants to apply for her mum or mum in law, after they refused her mum or mum in law visa and still calls the family back on appointment and later cancelled the whole family Visas. So pls be careful so as to avoid stories that touches the heart.Am just saying! |

My people, so i woke to see emails from GTB and Stanbic on non-usage of the Naira Mastercard abroad and reduction in the amount on POS and online. There is a caveat from Stanbic sha, that since i had pre-informed them of my travel itinerary, i'll still be able to use my card to withdraw and the new policy will take effect after i return from my trip (I'll still call their customer care to confirm). So i quickly rushed to Access Bank to pick up my Visa card and also entered FCMB to apply for a naira mastercard. N.B. FCMB no longer issue mastercard except you have evidence of your trip i.e. Travel ticket. I got it activated immediately. So pls, for those travelling soon, pls have Plan B, C and even D. God help us all. 4 Likes |

Austine2020:Austine2020, we were given the visa since 2014 which we used for holiday with hubby, later we used same visa for childbirth last year, which we informed the embassy while going and all bills paid and sent to the embassy in nigeria. We renewed the visa by dropbox this year, hubby has used his, as me and baby are going now, i already sent letter to embassy again about the intention of going for delivery and reveived response. Hope that is ok? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Austine2020: 1:51pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
geojay:I think Its very Ok, since u renew through Dropbox and still sent change intent letter to the embassy. Most especially, its not your first visas and not the first time u or your family are traveling to the US,unlike the family i told u about,it was their first US visas and they got it for Vacation. but never travel for vacation and later wanted to use it for childbirth. And on the process of looking for her mum or her mum in law visa, wahala started. |

Hi peeps!!! My wife is just 4 weeks pregnant, this is our first. I wish she delivers the baby in the US. A friend recommended that I follow this tread. She hasn't travelled out before, kindly advise on what step to take (to include when to apply for VISA). Thank you |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by idonhear: 2:39pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
I am also thinking if we can apply for VISA before the pregnancy becomes so obvious...what do you think? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by TOKNOW: 3:23pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
idonhear: If you read through this thread, you will know that the best thing to do is never to conceal the pregnancy, make sure you tell them at the embassy that you are going for childbirth. It does not matter if she has travelled before or not, just read through to know what are required. It is also a good option to apply now for the visa, so that even if denied ( I do not pray so) you would have enough time to reapply. |

Austine2020:Ohh okk, thank goodness, this is not our first time, me and hubby went before for vacation the first time, then went back again when i got pregnant and came home with our first baby, now america baby is going on first vacation, with me for deleivery so thats why we wnat to apply for my mum so she and baby can have fun time while i face the delivery wakawaka and hubby just transit through usa too few months ago with his own visa. I just pray my mum get the utmost favour. Though a friend was telling me they wont bother her because of her age, but i dont wnat to take any risk. Also i dont know when going on now, will my baby use his america passport or nigeria passport as america passport have nigeria visa on it but nigeria passport doesnt have any visa on it. |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Mrsbrightside(f): 3:31pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
idonhear:it doesn't really matter, as long as you're truthful about your intentions. I.e you tell them your wife is going to have your baby. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Austine2020: 3:41pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
geojay:She will get the Visa for Sure by the grace of God.Your baby has to go with both passports unless the Nig visa in his US passport is still valid up to the time of your departure to US and your arrival back to Nig after birth, then u can go with Only his US passport, but if not, then u have to travel with his Both passports. |

Thanks for your response. What are the actions to take now, and the milestones to plan for? When does she need to start contacting a doctor in the US? justwise: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by justwise(m): 5:13pm On Oct 14, 2016 |
idonhear: I thinl she can start contacting Drs when she is half-way through the pregnancy and that is also when you are absolutely sure that you have the money to sponsor the whole project. Page 1 of this thread will help you with some info as well as the rest of the thread |

Extra Sometin happened at d POE dat rily Got me but I leaf am for God hand. After d 45mins wait at secondary inspection,I went to baggage claim. Saw my luggage & one trolley man came. I also saw d other smaller carts but I didn't have any coin as is done in UK nor did I have smaller dollar denominations. After I went to pee, tried my Atm cards to no avail, I realized it was such a short distance. I truly would hav done it myself but I was rily tired and didn't mind d Help. First thing I askd d Guy was how much? He said wotever comes from my Hrt. Dats wen I knew I Had entered American one chance. I told him specifically I needed to know cos I don't hav small notes, so dat I could ask d lady pickin me if she could Help. I had only $100 notes as I didn't envisage dis encounter. Wen my picker-uper came, I told her, she say make I no mind d man. Dat dats how dey extort money from visitors. Me I dey always carry my luggage myself o. But as a first time preggo, I no wan snap ligament for airport make dem talk say I no fit. Lol Anyway, d man eventually told me $10 and I'm like "wot?!". "U chop craze?!". U need to see d short distance. And my bags had wheels. I would hav wheeled dem wit little or no stress. Na so my family friend bring out $2 notes and d man frowned. Later saw anoda $1 note added it. Cos she also didn't hav any smaller notes. Na so d man start cursing himself. Started yapping. Dat dats why he can't trust Nigerians. Bla bla bla. I felt so bad. Person fart, dem call naija. Person shit, na naaija dem go call. See common trolley man wey com USA Hustle as I wan Hustle for my pikin, com dey yab me on top. Mnwhile na him cunny pass. $10 for trolley movement of 100meters? Multiply by currency exchange and u tell me if dats not enuf to take me to Abuja airport and bak! One luggage was 8kg. Second was 15kg. Twas actually 1 big luggage but I split it. I felt bad and stil feel sorry. Lesson: Pls try and break ur money to $10 and $5 and even $1 notes o. To avoid stories dat touch d heart. Esp if u hav luggage. I could hav prevented dis encounter but was taken unawares. I'm done ranting. Ciao! Conclusion He took the $3. I tot he wouldn't. Mschheeww 4 Likes |

The moral of the story: Hustle your own pepper so that you will not be "Oriaku" only... That way, you ensure that you can be in a firm position to join hubby in writing that "story" that may be changing... ozycy: 1 Like |

The man enter one chance. He must have thought that a "helpless" preggy mama was easy prey... Mine was on the reverse side. When i arrived our MMIA on Monday night, the trolley boys were like: "Madam, you need to hold something small for the customs guys so they won't stress you" Me: I dont have anything left o. I just gave you my last 2.5k for hiring the big luggage trolley. Trolley boy: ok, why not bring out something small like $20 to give them so that they can let you go? In my mind I'm like WTH??!!? Are these guys living in a silo or what? $20? Thats N10k... Is it that he didn't know or he was high on something? I marched him to the exit and when i was stopped, I told the customs guy that in case they are not aware, our ATM cards are no longer delivering dollar cash to us outside the country, so i couldn't even buy them the "chocolates" they are expecting... The guy then realised that he was dealing with an "alaye" like himself. The next thing i heard was "Madam na wah for you oh, dey go jor" > TripleKMama: 5 Likes |

Hello Nairalanders! FTM due in march'17 and i'm really happy to be part of nairaland, I have learnt a lot since I found out about this trend in July. I share experiences gotten here with friends that are also interested in giving birth in the US. Now my worries: i'm torn in between giving birth in Houston and Dallas but I have more info(I got here)on Houston than dallas. I just found out about JPS hospital in dallas but the issue is the hospital cost? if they still take foreign patients (I read somewhere here that JPS doesn't accept foreign patients)? a doctor' name or contact? I have contacted the numbers I got online from my research but it's not been fruitful. Please help a sister!!! I need useful comments. Thanks! |
